    Synopsis

The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor
The Fast and the Furious director Rob Cohen continues the tale set into motion by director Stephen Sommers with this globe-trotting adventure that finds explorer Rick O'Connell and son attempting to thwart a resurrected emperor's (Jet Li) plan to enslave the entire human race. It's been 2,000 years since China's merciless Emperor Han and his formidable army were entombed in terra cotta clay by a double-dealing sorceress (Michelle Yeoh), but now, after centuries in suspended animation, an ancient curse is about to be broken. Thanks to his childhood adventures alongside father Rick (Brendan Fraser) and mother Evelyn (Maria Bello), dashing young archeologist Alex O'Connell (Luke Ford) is more than familiar with the power of the supernatural. After he is tricked into awakening the dreaded emperor from his eternal slumber, however, the frightened young adventurer is forced to seek out the wisdom of his parents -- both of whom have had their fair share of experience battling the legions of the undead. Should the fierce monarch prove capable of awakening his powerful terra cotta army, his diabolical plan for world domination will finally be set into motion. Of course, the one factor that this emperor mummy failed to consider while solidifying his power-mad plans was the O'Connells, and before this battle is over, the monstrous monarch will be forced to contend with the one family that isn't frightened by a few rickety reanimated corpses. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

      Simply disappointing

Too often in cinema in recent history, audiences use terms like "cheese" and "popcorn flick" to describe a poor attempt at a disappointing action movie. It can be said that "The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor" is a simple popcorn flick not to be taken seriously and just to be enjoyed. If that is the case, than this is the blandest, stale popcorn I've ever tried, and no amount of salt, butter, or reheating can salvage it. Sadly, the 3rd installment in The Mummy series falls flat in nearly every area where the rest of the series tends to work. Nearly every moment of this film screams of bad pacing, poor acting, and terrible writing, and to those who would say that good writing is missing the point, I would simply say this; How many 3rd grade boys did the studio employ to have dialogue like "the Yak yakked" written into their screenplay? Despite being a fan of the first film in this series, I can only say that I was hugely disappointed in this movie. For those who say that this is simply stupid fun, I would say that there is a place for that in cinema, but even stupid fun can be written well and acted well. For those of you thinking about checking out this movie, please trust me when I say that the third time is not the charm.

I now buy Blu-ray Dvds because of the PS3. The graphics and images are clearer and only certain films I buy because of the price tag. This is the first time I have been dissapointed, mainly because the film was okay. It didn't suck, but it wasn't good. The story line was good, but it was too short of a film. I htink it was a little over 90 minutes. The battles weren't like the ones from the first two. They were too quick. The graphics were great. Getting rid of Rachel Weisz was upsetting because she was key in the first two. The son went from 6 years old in the The Mummy Returns......to 26 years old in this film. The acting was way overrated. It seemed like they were trying too hard in many parts of the film. It was a good film, but I wouldn't recommend buying it if you loved the first two films.

Better than the other Mummy movies

If it wasn't for The Dark Knight, this movie would've done a lot better in the box office. Unfortunately, because of timing, it got buried and forgotten rather quickly, which is a shame. I actually enjoyed this movie more than the second one and a whole lot more than the Scorpion King. Although the kid of the O'Connells grew up too quick, (without the parents really aging at all), it's a really enjoyable movie with some fun tongue-in-cheek moments.

This is the newest installment of "The Mummy" series (Brendan Fraser), this is my favorite of the series. With Jet Li (one of my favorites) as The Mummy and Michelle Yeoh in a supporting role, you have a great cast! This movie is almost in the league of the Indiana Jones movies. Great fun with lots of action and adventure. Did I mention the battle with the Yetti? This movie is worth watching!

Maybe it's the new director or maybe it's the absence of Rachel Weisz, but this third installment of the Mummy series doesn't live up to the standard set by the first two. It's a good story, there's plenty of action and there's still moments of humor, but it just seems to be missing something. Even so, it's still worth watching because Brendan Fraser is Rick O'Connell.

This movie was great. I had never seen this movie before but my dad loves these movies. Great for the family. The quality of the visuals and sound were great. Oh and did I forget to mention that Jet Li and Michelle Yeoh are also in this one!? Love them.

The original Mummy trilogy, staring Brendon Fraser, are some of the greatest films to come out in the late 90's and early 2000's. Don't let Tom Cruise's garbage remake leave you with bitter beer face. Do yourself a sold and pick up the original Mummy trilogy.
