I have vivid memories of watching this movie in the theater when it first came out, and I enjoy it today as I enjoyed it then. Sandra Bullock is at her best—from all-out action to the more subtle and understated, always a convincing presence. Dennis Miller, whom I have seen mostly as a comedian, is also good (in a serious role). Mark Isham's music adds a nice layer of haunting undertones. All topped off by Irwin Winkler's good direction—a fluid pace, with successful transitions between more dramatic and calmer scenes. The image quality is up to par for a Blu-ray. It is probably due to the choice of black point that the image is a little dark, and also a little grainy when viewed from up close on a 4K screen. But it is clean throughout. The audio is flawless in quality and mixing; between sound effects and incidental music, the voices always come through. Finally, for all the advances in IT tech—this could happen today…and worse! Oh, and did I mention I enjoy this movie today as I enjoyed it 30 years ago on the big screen?
