Overlooked horror gem!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not many are familiar with this Canadian production (most of which was shot in Beaver Dam Wisconsin) but now that it is on Blu-Ray hopefully it will reach a wider audience. A troubled boy confuses his budding sexuality with weird 'troll' like creatures that live in the titular 'pit.' Are they for real or is it all in his head (considering his teddy bear speaks to him!?!)? Also watch out for a slam, bang ending! An absolute gem this disc has a wealth of extras including a great interview with Sammy Synders who talks about his role in the film (acting as a youngster).

From a Former Horror~Hound of the 1980's!!....
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I used to enjoy watching this movie via ~gorgeous VHS transfer~ /rental, as a child during the 1980's. Next to the live-action movie version of the Swamp Thing, the Troglodytes were an impressive design for the time period of which the movie was availed(movies such as 'From a Whisper to a Scream' Starring Vincent Price, were also one of those extremely macabre and dark disturbing horror movies to have been released in select theaters as well!!). The basic plot and creature design would make for an excellent James Wan/Eli Roth re-imagining in modern cinema form. Albeit, I can only fathom just how AWESOME a modern take on the Troglodytes would be.... perhaps even a Guillermo Del Toro take on a neo-The~Pit would also suffice, on account of Del Toro's extensive usage of sculpted physical creature FX designs and animatronics via his former directorial endeavors. The~Pit, with a bit of story alteration, is a prime candidate for a modern retelling! Because.... Teddy says SO! ~RaptorLEE~
