Set in New Orleans at the beginning of the 20th century, The Princess and the Frog concerns a poor African-American girl named Tiana who has a knack for cooking, and dreams of opening her own restaurant. Her best friend since childhood is a privileged white girl whose wealthy father employs Tiana's mother as a dressmaker. When the friend's family hosts a party for Prince Naveen of Maldonia, Dr. Facilier, an expert in black magic, turns the visiting royal into a frog. The now amphibious Naveen convinces Tiana that a kiss will reverse the spell, and if she obliges him he'll provide the money she needs to open her dream eatery. However, their smooch not only fails to turn him back into a human, but transforms Tiana into a frog as well. The duo then sets out to find a voodoo priestess who can set everything right.~Perry Seibert
Lovely SteelBook to a Love Letter to 2D Animation…

Love that this movie got the beautiful SteelBook treatment it deserves, in 4K/BD no less! While I was only able to indulge in the BD disc for now, that alone showcases the gorgeous picture and audio along with a fair share of special features as expected from a Disney release. A worthy addition for any Disney collector, harkening back to their golden age of traditional animation.
Princess and the Frog is a great movie in a lot of ways. I love the story, the setting, and the characters. It also has the distinction of being the last (or at least most recent) animated Disney film. While most other films have gone the CG route, this retains the classic look of Disney films. The presentation in 4K HDR looks great from the disc and a Movies Anywhere code is included in the case so you can stream in any quality up to UHD. Be aware that like most other Disney (and most other studios) this is a 2K upconversion, so you aren't getting the full 4K experience. HDR adds a lot to the presentation, but it's something to be aware of. All around I love this movie, and at this point this is the definitive way to watch it at home. The artwork on this Best Buy exclusive steelbook is also very good.
I love Tiana, She is by far my favorite Princess. My daughters love this movie. We watch it all the time. It's beautiful on 4K. I definitely love the new generation of Princesses. Tiana, Moana, Merida. I'm glad Disney is creating Princesses that have bigger dreams and goals than just marrying prince charming.
A person who loves food and their goal is to open a southern food restaurant. Like, how do you not love this lady? Whenever I watch this I crave gumbo and beignets. There's also voodoo, a frog, and a love story in there.
I've been wanting this DVD for my Disney collection for a long time but the $$ was always high. I got it now for a reasonab price. The movie itself is great telling the classic theme of - no shortcuts in life, love wins and friendships are golden!
I would recommend this to a friend
