Synopsis

The Protector 2
Director Prachya Pinkaew and star Tony Jaa reunite for this sequel that finds Kham (Jaa) on the run after being blamed for the murder of elephant-camp owner Boss Suchart. When all evidence points to Kham as the killer, he must clear his name and find his elephant with Boss Suchart's vengeful twin nieces (Jija Yanin Wismitanan and Teerada Kittisiriprasert) in hot pursuit. Fortunately for Kham, Interpol agent Sergeant Mark (Mum Jokmok) is willing to lend a helping hand. But things get complicated when ruthless crime lord LC (RZA) attempts to add Kham to his prized collection of world-class fighters, and send him on a secret mission. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Thai martial-arts maestro Tony Jaa’s newest film overloads on terrible F/X that rob the film of the actor’s usual brute-force balleticism. Ong Bak on The Protector was AMAZING. This movie is the opposite of what made him popular in the first place. This movie not only uses wires, but horrible looking CGI and scenes obviously shot in front of a green screen. Not only does the CGI look bad in this movie but Jaa's fighting abilities seem to have taken a hit too. He looks slower and even a little sloppy at times. JeeJa Yanin is completely wasted in this movie too. Why even put her in the movie just to get beat up most of the time? And the RZA? He took an already bad movie and plunged it to the bottom of the barrel. He's a terrible actor and shouldn't be anywhere near a fight scene.

I loved Tony Jaa in Ong Bak and The Protector. However, Ong Bak 2 and 3 did not do much for me. The Protector 2 had me regretting my purchase the entire time. The film was apparently a commercial success in Thailand, but I just couldn't understand why throughout my entire viewing of the film. What's wrong with this film? - Wires used by the actors EVERYWHERE. - TERRIBLY CG effects. Absolutely terribly. - Forced 3D. I actually enjoy 3D when it's done right and not forced. This movie absolutely forced it on. - The RZA shouldn't act. Ever. I can't even recommend this as a rental. It's just so bad. And not in a so bad that it's entertainingly good way either. It's just bad. Pass.

OK I was totally looking forward to this, I love Tony Jaa and I enjoyed the first Protector. But this is definitely a case to more money being used and bringing you an inferior product. I guess with Tony's new popularity the films he is in are getting bigger budgets, but that is not always a good thing. The movie is filled with cheap made for tv level of cgi effects and green screen shots which kind of ruined it for me. Alot of the scenes where Tony Jaa is doing his own stunts it is clearly a green screen set with things he is running and jumping on or off of so to hide what I would assume is safety equipment I don't know it jsut ruined the feel of the movie for me.

Like "The Protector," this movie comes down to a search for an elephant, which has its own culture clash in terms of empathy. But that's not why you watch a tony Jaa film anyway! You're there for the action, and Jaa delivers in 3D no less. Said 3D is rarely gimmicky and looks as good as a Hollywood joint. Rza is the villain; he's gotta have a stomach ache from all that scenery he chewed up. His henchwoman is woefully underused. Overall, a fun ride at a reasonable price compared to other 3D blu-rays.

Tony Jaa is back after 2 failed films that is Ong Bak 2 and 3. The Protector 2 for me was good at points but wont blow you away like his older films. the film still is a fun watch and a step up from his last. The protector 2 has good action just not the hard hitting stuff we are use to. Overall the film is good and if a Tony Jaa fan it should be in your collection....Tony Jaa and Jija Yanin are bad a**, just wish there were more scenes with both of them fighting.

Liked that there were plenty of fight scenes, nicely done to boot. Was surprised to see the RZA get more screenplay AND a fight scene. If your expecting any kind of plot, forget it. In India you might believe that an elephant is sacred, and that a person would go through so much to recover one that had been stolen from you. But here in the USA it's just an animal and not many people would risk life and limb. You'll ask yourself "why?", more than once.

Tony Jaa has made some awesome movies in the past and although I don't feel that The Protector 2 was as good as the first one as far as brutal action goes, I feel that the 3D effects made up for the lack of action in my opinion. I was also impressed with the RZA and his performance, I feel he is finally getting the hang of this acting thing. Over all I feel it's a good movie to sit down with some friends and enjoy. Cheers!

Tony Jaa is awesome. You already know this, or you probably wouldn't be looking at this movie in the first place. I feel the first movie was better overall, but my main complaint is the 3D. This is one of those films that has a few piddly 3D moments and that's it. The fight scenes are still great, but if you were looking for a full encompassing 3D experience you're going to be a bit let down.
