I enjoyed the movie much more than I thought I would after reading the book. It is an excellent work by Graham Greene. The movie scared me initially because I did not think that Brendan Fraser could play the role of Pyle well and was right, but he did do much better than I expected. The adaptation changes the character a little bit and fits Fraser better (I do like the Pyle of the novel better though). However, Michael provides an amazing performance and although it is not dead on, it is as faithful an adaptation as is willing to be produced by Hollywood.
