Synopsis

The Rocky Horror Picture Show
This low-budget freak show/cult classic/cultural institution concerns the misadventures of Brad Majors (Barry Bostwick) and Janet Weiss (Susan Sarandon) inside a strange mansion that they come across on a rainy night. After the wholesome pair profess their love through an opening song, their car breaks down in the woods, and they seek refuge in a towering castle nearby. Greeting them at the door is a ghoulish butler named Riff Raff (Richard O'Brien), who introduces them to a bacchanalian collection of partygoers dressed in outfits from some sort of interplanetary thrift shop. The host of this gathering is a transvestite clad in lingerie, Dr. Frank N. Furter (Tim Curry), a mad scientist who claims to be from another planet. With assistants Columbia (Nell Campbell) and Magenta (Patricia Quinn) looking on, Frank unveils his latest creation -- a figure wrapped in gauze and submerged in a tank full of liquid. With the addition of colored dyes and some assistance from the weather, Frank brings to life a blonde young beefcake wearing nothing but skimpy shorts, who launches into song in his first minute of life. Just when Brad and Janet think things couldn't get any stranger, a biker (Meat Loaf) bursts onto the scene to reclaim Columbia, his ex-girlfriend. When Frank kills the biker, it's clear that Brad and Janet will be guests for the night, and that they may be next on Frank's list -- whether for murder or carnal delights is uncertain. And just what is that mystery meat they're eating for dinner, anyway? In addition to playing Riff Raff, O'Brien wrote the catchy songs, with John Barry and Richard Hartley composing the score. ~ Derek Armstrong, Rovi

I have had the printer for about a month now. The hardest part was getting it to connect wirelessly to the router. Instead of using the obvious choice given to connect, I had to go the Advanced route and it worked instantly since I knew the router password. As per some of the reviews, I will admit that it does take awhile to get going but it prints faster than some people stated that it does. I also put the printer in Quiet Mode. I have done that to al my previous printers too (Canon, Epson). It is a huge printer - not sure why it is so big, but it is. A primary reason I bought it over others was that it has the ability to print directly to a CD or DVD - for some people that seems like an antiquated thing to want, but for me it is great. I create music discs for people like at the holidays. Giving music is a great thing, in my opinion....and I along with people I know, prefer to give something tangible. I have not yet tried out this feature, but am hoping it works as flawlessy as my Epson did. Also, I tend to work in the same room where the printer is, so I don't know how well the wireless feature will pick up if I have my laptop on a different floor elsewhere.

The greatest musical of all time. I'm a huge fan of movie musicals. Growing up in the '60's, I was made aware of all the great musicals of the early years of Hollywood via TV. Fred, Ginger, Gene, Judy, Frank, Bing ... all made life a little more enjoyable through song and dance. For a few years the movie industry seemed to ignore "The Musical". Luckily, the success of Broadway shows started to bring the "greats" to the silver screen ... Funny Girl, Chicago, etc. But for us "rock and rollers" it was Grease that finally hit the high notes. Then one "midnight showing" of a little known (in this country) musical opened at the local theater ... and all the rest of the musicals of the past took a back seat to this phenomenon. I have bought this film in every format it has been released in ... and I'll be the first one in line when they re-work it into 3D format ... or holographic. For all of us "die-hard" Rocky Horror fans ... there will always be ... "a light over at the Frankenstein place."

Who hasn't heard of Rocky horror picture show? Okay – anyone under 20 years old. As an old geezer like myself, I grew up with this movie. I went to see a midnight show in Santa Monica years ago and people really did come in costumes. It really made it more fun when the audience "took part" in the movie (just like Mommie Dearest), But this one you can sing along with it. The very first version it came out for home use was on a VHS cassette and it was for sale for USD99 and people were buying them. It looked okay on DVD, but now it is on Blu-ray, and at a very reasonable price – it looks amazing on my big 4K 65 inch screen. You almost have to watch it with someone else, so all of you can enjoy together. There are a few "adult" moments and most likely this is not very appropriate for very young viewers, but for the rest of us. It is time to "time warp" again!

And again... and again... and AGAIN!!! Let's do it till the day we die! Right, this movie was a small budget movie, has lots of goof ups and goofy people, and sure, it bombed horribly in the box office back in 1975 when it debuted. But, it's a cult classic, and the longest-running film, going on 36 years, now. It's a great gift for anyone who's seen the film on the midnight circuit, with all of it's extra features, it blows the 2-Disc Anniversary DVD out of the water with ease! A must have for ANY Rocky junkie. Yes, the plot's thin, but the music and characters are great. And who can resist Tim Curry in his debut film in fishnets and heels!??

Okay, for the average individual....run away now. For any Rocky Horror fan, this 35th Anniversary edition is a MUST HAVE. The extras on the Blu-ray are worth the purchase price. Not to mention the quality of the picture. There are slight differences in this version as compared to your local midnight movie theater version. For example..."There's A Light" is sung slightly different. The passive fan will not notice, but when singing along (as I have for 25 years) you notice the difference. The addition of deleted musical numbers, outtakes, and "Rocky-oke" are wonderful. This is not just another copy of the same old film with 35 on the cover. This is the best version of the film that I have seen to date. Run, don't walk, and get this movie now!

Some have called this the "King of Cult Movies." This film is fun, but only if you attend an actual screening with an audience, who react to this film, its songs, & its characters as if they were cheering on their favorite sports team. If you simply watch the DVD at home, you'll quickly find out how stupid this film is. A couple (Barry Bostwick & Susan Sarandon) walks to a nearby castle after their car breaks down one stormy night. Before they can get to a phone, they encounter the castle's bizarre inhabitants who hail from the planet (not the European land) Transylvania, including the head of the household Dr. Frank-N-Furter (Tim Curry), who's a cross between Dr. Frankenstein & Beetlejuice-& bisexual to boot. My favorite song number here is "Time Warp," but this film, perhaps more than any other ever made, requires viewing with an actual audience in order to attain any enjoyment of it.

Unless you have been living in a time warp, The Rocky Horror Picture Show is time worn treasure that has probably been viewed at least once in your lifetime, if not too many times to count. Experiencing it in a movie theater with a participatory audience is the bomb. Owning this wonderful blu-ray edition will only enhance one's affection for this ahead of its time film since you can actually watch and listen to all the craziness unfolding without the distraction of a movie audience member misting you with water or blocking the screen while dancing in front of your seat. The video and sound quality of the blu-ray is exceptional. Don't wait with "an..ti,,,ci..pation", go buy this blu-ray (or DVD) immediately.

Yes, Fox is doing a live version of this cult classic later in 2016, but sometimes, you just want the original, and this one is about as original as it gets. It's the midnight movie we all know and love, whether watching on cable or taking in a floor show at the local theatre, hurling toilet paper and shouting back at the screen. Incidentally, if you don't get that, the Blu-ray has an audience participation track so you can see just why so many people see the movie in theatres all over the country. And it also includes a Digital HD copy for when you wish to shiver with antici ... pation away from home.
