    The September Issue
Vogue has been the most powerful and best-respected fashion magazine in the world for decades, and each year the journal devotes a fall issue to the designs and designers that the editors feel will be influential in the coming year. The September 2007 issue of Vogue, that year's annual Fall Fashion issue, became the biggest single issue in the magazine's long history, and filmmaker R.J. Cutler was given unprecedented access to Vogue's creative team as the issue was being prepared. The September Issue is a documentary which focuses on Vogue editor Anna Wintour as she visits the annual Fashion Week shows, accepts or dismisses the latest creations of the biggest names in fashion, works with the models, photographers, and writers who help bring her vision to the page, and labors with her staff to determine what the world's fashionistas will be wearing for the next 12 months. The September Issue received its world premiere at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival, where it received an award for excellence in documentary cinematography. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

Fashion is a religion: This is the Bible

This documentary is an absolute must for fashion junkies. It follows the September Issue of Vogue from runway to publication, from the tents at Bryant Park to glamourous shoots at Versailles in France to the choices for the final layouts. The clothes are fantastic, and of course, Anna Wintour proves herself worthy of being an internationally recognized style icon and is endlessly quotable. Fans of "The Devil Wears Prada" and it's thinly veiled references to Wintour won't be disappointed in the way she comes across here, but there are several moments when we get to see the very real human being behind "Nuclear Wintour". But the real standouts here are Fashion Director Grace Coddington and Editor-at-Large Andre Leon Talley. Their love of fashion and larger-than-life personalities give the film its heart and draw the viewer in. I have been a devoted Vogue reader and follower of fashion for many years, and I found this very realistic and revealing documentary a fascinating look into the enormous effort it takes to produce the work of art known as the September Issue

A Glimpse into the Fashion World

This documentary film is all about how a fashion magazine is put together. From visiting designers, to laying out the spread, to photo shoots and creating the final copy. Anna Wintour comes off bossy, but she really is just only doing her job. She is very decisive and direct and you need to be when you are part of such a major global industry. Grace Coddington is pure genious when it comes to directing photo shoots! She has such a creative eye for it! I would highly recommend this DVD to become a part of your collection if you follow fashion as much as I do. You will leave with so much insight.
