Synopsis

Season 14 finds the Simpsons clan feuding even more than usual (which is really saying something). Bart legally emancipates himself from his family and moves into an apartment building, where his new neighbors include skateboarder Tony Hawk and pop-punk band Blink-182; Homer believes Marge doesn't love him and moves out to live with two gay men; {%Bart) and Lisa become rivals after they are both placed in the third grade; and Homer and Marge see a marriage counselor after Marge accidentally runs him over with the car. Thankfully, the finale ends the season on a more-positive note: Surly bartender Moe bonds with baby Maggie after she prevents him from going through with a suicide attempt. ~ Jack Rodgers

You know I have been a fan of the Simpsons since the first episode. NEVER did see it on the Tracy Oldman show. Now, I understood when they started releasing the seasons on DVD about putting supporting characters on the packaging. But since they started that the last few seasons have NOT been if this makes sense major minor supporting characters. Kang or Kodos? How about Barney, Moe, Mr. Burns or Flanders? Then making this themed after Kang & Kodos THEN releasing it December 2011? Sure, you need that to promote Christmas. And, why December 2011 & season 13 released August 2010? What was with the delay? At least they did NOT do what they did for several years-release it Christmas week. Aren’t we glad they stopped the starting each season AFTER Halloween making Treehouse of Terror the 1st episode of the season? This was 1st season they did this. Stupid idea, post season baseball but why miss September? This season was also the down fall I noticed of how funny the shows were. My favorite episode on disc 1 "How I Spent My Strummer Vacation" with Mick and Keith. Disc 3 "Mr. Spritz Goes to Washington" featuring Krusty is good as well. Now, the DVD packaging is TERRIBLE. Hard to get the discs out in this horrible design.

Every time I watch the Simpsons, it brings me back to when it first came out on the Tracy Ullman Show. Many may not remember those first episodes but it was brilliance in the making. This season just like all the other seasons of the Simpsons is well worth the cost and at the great prices Bestbuy sells them at, I will gladly return to Bestbuy time and again for another when available. Who doesn't love a classic comedy and even better at a great price.

The Simpsons are still funny, that's the good news. The bad news is they just aren't as funny or creative as they used to be. Seasons 3-10 had the Simpsons firing on all cylinders. The laughs came rapid-fire, and the writing and stroylines were next to genius. No one expected that level of brilliance to continue year after year. That being said, Season 14 is funny...very funny. A number of scenes required rewinding as I laughed too hard the first time to take it all in. I have to give the set 5 stars and am looking forward to Season 15.

While not the rock bottom of Simpsons seasons, this season is pretty close to it. Treehouse of horror is decent but the others range from mediocre to desperately forced. TWO 'Marge changes herself physically' episodes within close proximity. Very strange. A 300th episode celebration that's more about Tony Hawk than any simpsons character. Not great.

After the 14th season the simpsons started going down the hill in terms of writing. I guess after all of those episodes they ran out of ideas. But this season is great, still has the hillarious cartoon to it and doesnt deal with real world issues that much as the later seasons did. Reccomend it,

Okay. It's still funny, it's still witty, and it's still good TV. But it just can't live up to Season 3-10. The show isn't firing on 8 cylinders anymore, but it's running fine on 6...bordering bumpy. Good gags, good satire, good purchase.
