Two young soldiers are forced to endure the brutality and horror that war creates firsthand in this drama from director Alexandre Moors. Bartle (Alden Ehrenreich), who made a promise to protect his teenage friend Murph (Tye Sheridan) before departing for Iraq, looks to survive the fighting and grueling day-to-day conditions while also dealing with the stern, unforgiving Sergeant Sterling (Jack Huston), who is haunted by his own demons. Jennifer Aniston co-stars as Murph's mother, Maureen. Based on Iraq War vet Kevin Powers' 2012 novel.~Tom Ciampoli
A bit of a downer overall as far as the story goes. Well written story about the life of soldiers in the Iraq War and how it affects them. Use of flashbacks is well done. Surprised by Jennifer Aniston's role as a soldier's mother.
My wife and I were not able to see this movie in our local movie theater and am happy we were able to purchase it at a good price from BestBuy and am looking forward to watching it as often as we want.
