Yet another new singer, yet another great album

Attack Attack! - This Means War (2012) Rise Records This is Attack Attack!'s third studio album, and first full-length release with former keyboardist Caleb Shomo at the helms as lead vocalist. His voice and writing style brings forth yet another new image to the band's sound. Gone are the days of the bands self-described "crabcore" sound of incorporating electronic beats with their screaming rock. This could be due to the move of Shomo from the sole keyboardist to centre stage. Although I was initially excited to see another round of the last album, I'm glad to see the band has progressed and decided to go another direction, showing me that they are adaptable and not going to simply churn out a similar sounding record every couple of years. The riffs were angry enough to garner some fist pumps and energize my mosh attitude. The content provided a clear story of progressing through a war-like atmosphere perhaps based off of a broken relationship or the terrors of war between governments and the people. The album has a fluid progression and transition from start to finish. I've never been a fan for 10 track albums because I find myself always looking for more content, and much like A Day to Remember's What Separates Me from You, the final song seemed like it lacked a resolution as it fades into silence. Despite this ending, the album still leaves me feeling mostly satisfied. Favourite moments: Calebs two lines: "Can you hear me screaming, I've been yelling so much that my throat is bleeding" "I WILL FIND MY SON! SO GIVE IT UP!" Rating: 8 yelps out of 10. All in all, a very enjoyable record. I've had it on repeat for the past week and the more I listen, the more I have grown to enjoy the band's new sound. The only question is, with the band's turn around rate for vocalists, will this line-up be around for another record? I hope so, because of the talent, but then again I've said that about the last 2 records as well. Either way this band has continued to create good music. Shomo has a great voice, yell or sing, and I hope they can finally settle on one line-up to continue for a couple of records. - A

I love this band a lot and when I heard them that they broke up I was disappointed but their music still rocks.
