Very pleased now that I’m used to it.
|Posted .Had the following set-up: basic cable, antenna-DVR, Roku with Amazon Prime, Netflix, HBO Now, Hulu with Showtime, & DVD player. My wife was extremely irate about so many remote controls (had another one just for the TV), so I bought a TiVO Bolt. There were some beginning problems - it takes about 30 minutes on the phone with your cable provider’s tech dept., after you trade in your cable box for a different one. The TiVO remote was malfunctioning, BestBuy wouldn’t replace the remote only, so I had to call TiVO before I disconnected the whole set-up to return it. TiVO mailed me a new remote. While I was waiting for it to arrive, the Bolt came disconnected from its power source during the cable box switch. Reconnected it & the remote worked fine. Had to d/c the HBO Now service & get it thru Amazon Prime. We’ve had the Bolt connected for over a month now & we both love it. The remote for the Bolt controls everything but the DVD player, but we haven’t watched a DVD in months, so that’s ok. Our previous DVR would only worked with the antenna, and reception was spotty and channels limited. Now we can record any channel we get on cable, without a monthly DVR payment to the cable company. The Roku had a lot more apps/channels than the Bolt does, but most of the missing ones we never watched anyway. The Bolt remote controls the everyday functions of the TV (channels, volume, power) so that remote is in a drawer. I am SO glad we made this change & got the Bolt. It’s so much better than what we were using.

Loving TIVO
Posted .Kick out your cable box. TIVO is way better hands down. And I saved money every month. I got rid of 3 cable boxes and my bill wen down $52 per month. I did have to buy the TIVO Bolt and two mini's but in 12 months it will be money in the bank. The service is way better and I love the remote. It has RF mode so I don't have to have it pointed exactly at the box. Kick cable boxes and get your TIVO

Incredible Upgrade to a Great System
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendThe TiVo BOLT is an incredible upgrade from the Roamio series. It incorporates the ability to use either an antenna or cable. As we decided to ditch the cable, this was a great option. The footprint is half of the old machines. The speed at which it works is very fast, and incorporated into our home with TiVo Minis seamlessly. The only drawbacks I see to the machine is the need for HDMI inputs (for Disc player or video games or other settop boxes like Roku or Kodi)) and more streaming support. We use a Roku in conjunction with the TiVo, and we now have zero need for cable. I have been a TiVo user since1999, and would not consider another system. If you are stuck with cable, this device works great, despite the hype the cable company will give you. It is far superior to anything else out there!

Great Buy First time or Exist Subscriber
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI had reservations about upgrading existing seven-year-old Tivo HD. I am a Time Warner cable subscriber and had lots of issues when setting up my first TiVo HD. It was basically getting a cable card and tuner box which was the hassle. I bought a Tivo Bolt on 8-13-2016 and using TiVos online instructions and Time Warner cable's instructions did the installation myself and had it up running that day. The only mistake I made was I had forgotten to call TWC to pair the cable card and the Bolt. Most Of the channels came thru certain ones did not without pairing it up. Over all great device easy to use and to be fair the TWC Reps were very professional and courteous when i called.

Almost Perfect
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI love the Tivo bolt. I replaced my cable box with it and have zero regrets. Everything just works better than any cable box I have ever used (Cox, Xfinity, Verizon, Time Warner). There are too many great features and advantages to list here. Unfortunately, I mentioned almost perfect because there is a fan that makes an annoying noise. This is really a problem if you want to use it in a bedroom, especially because there is no on and off switch and Tivo support told me that the box has to stay on 24/7. However in our living room you do not notice anything. An other disappointment is the Amazon app which seems to be an older version or made for Tivo. It is not as intuitive as the current Amazon app for smart TV's. YouTube seems to be the same, so I am hoping for an upgrade to Amazon soon. (not tried any other apps).

Best ever
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendThis is my second purchase, I bought my first one about a year ago this one is for my son. When I bought my first one I wanted to get rid of cable/satellite. I had DirecTV which I loved but I didn’t love the price so I wanted to cut the cord but I rely heavily on recording my shows. The Best Buy member recommended this item. He said I could use it on antenna and record my shows. What he didn’t mention was that I can add my passwords to Hulu, Netflix and Amazon prime. When I add shows to a one pass list to record it will also tell me if that show is available in and in which app and how much it is to either rent or buy in every app Whether or not It is on an antenna TV channel and I can still stream it. I have now use that search or one pass to check and see if movies or shows are available on the specific app instead of checking all of the apps to see if it’s there or to find out which way is the cheapest to rent or buy the show. This particular model cost 150 a one time annual charge to use the specific models features. But, when you figure 150 year versus 142×12 year I’ve saved a lot. I stopped to pay for Hulu prime and I stopped to pay for Hulu prime and Netflix, But, I was doing that anyway and I was only watching one or two shows that I could not get on antenna and I have always seem to find a way to stream it. The only thing this box does not do is let me have, or add my passwords for other streaming things like the network apps or Crunchyroll ( my sons) Or my biggie Apple TV so that I could find any movie or compare any movie or show across all devices to search for a movie or its price Or my biggie Apple TV so that I could find any movie or compare any movie or show across all devices to search for movie And or Compare their price.

DVR
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendBolt is an a great way to save on Cable equipment fees. I have it paired with four TiVo minis running on a MoCA network. Watching cable on of my TVs is awesome. Amazon Prime is also pretty cool.

Great DVR system
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI used to have a Tivo series 2 box back in 2004, and I love their user interface. I purchased both the Tivo Bolt and the Tivo mini so that I could get a whole home setup in my house. Setup was easy, you just need to make sure you have a wired (Cat5) or above ethernet cable available so you can setup the whole home environment. The only thing that doesn't work with my cable provider (Spectrum) and the Tivo bolt is the on demand channels. You will need rent a box from the cable company in order to receive those channels. Would be nice if Tivo could add that functionality. The thing I miss most about switching from Directv to the Cable/Tivo setup is the "Favorites" channels. With the directv remote they had a button where you could set about 6 favorite channels for easy access. Tivo has a filter you can set on the guide for favorites, but it takes many clicks to get this view setup.
Q: QuestionDoes this unit work with OTA ?
Asked by Airman.
- A:Answer The Bolt can be used EITHER with OTA or through a cablecard provided by the cable company but not both. Thus a cable user today can be an OTA user down the road. NOTE: The new Bolt + model released on 9/16/2016 has 6 tuners and 3 TB of storage but does not have the OTA capability that the Bolt has.

Q: QuestionCan I use it for 3 TV's?
Asked by Fred.
- A:Answer No, it is connected to one tv. However, you can purchase two TiVo Mini's for your additional tv's and they connect to the TiVo Bolt. Just note that all of the TiVo devices must be connected via Ethernet as the Mini's don't have wireless capabilities. The other option is if you have an MoCA network.

Q: QuestionWith a TB of storage, how much record time with HD and with 4K?
Asked by Jim.
- A:Answer 1 TB of storage is about 160 hours of HD. In my experience HD television uses between 1 - 3 GB per show. 4K shows are generally streamed. When 4K is offered by cable you can get an expansion drive that plugs into an eSATA port on the unit.
