I've owned about 5 of these things. I didn't look forward to buying another, but my VIA 1535 finally crapped out on me so I reluctantly searched for a replacement. My main concern about a new purchase was how to keep it updated. I don't use a PC anymore so I knew updating a new TomTom would be a problem. After a bit of research I decided to try the GO 52 because it promoted the ability to update via Wi-Fi. My initial impression upon purchase was disappointment. The screen is smaller than what I was accustomed to. Fortunately. that's the only negative thing I can say about it. The learning curve was longer than I expected. It took a bit of trial and error learning to correctly sync the GPS to my Android. (My progress improved immediately once I discovered AT&T was playing games with my data signal). Once I straightened that out it was smooth sailing. After several weeks of using the GO 52 daily I can confidently say it's the best TomTom model I've owned so far. * IT'S FAST. The GO 52 quickly determines routes. Alternative routes are determined just as fast. Very little lag in recalculating route if I deviate from recommended routes. * ITS LOUD. I don't have to strain to hear directions. * TRAFFIC DETAILS ARE SURPRISINGLY RELIABLE. I Ignored a recommended route home from work last week and ran straight into a construction detour. Glanced at my TomTom and there is was. Speed/red light cameras are acceptably current as well. * ADDRESSES/POIs ARE EASY TO FIND. The GO 52 often anticipates my desired destination. * Easy to navigate menu. * Hands free calling (though I don't do much talking on the phone while driving). * UPDATES ARE EFFORTLESS. Once set up, the GO 52 automatically connects to home Wi-Fi. "Updates & New Items" in "Settings" instantly alerts users to available updates. Simply accept and download. * Improved touch sensitive screen. I'm not pounding the darn thing like I did with the VIA 1535. Simply stated, the GO 52 is a great little standalone gps. Though I didn't look forward to buying a new TomTom, the features of this model is well worth the investment.

Bit of a learning curve getting my TomTom to sync with my cell phone. After that using the gps became effortless. It even anticipates where I want to go if it determines my route to be part of a routine. Traffic info is incredibly reliable. I'm learning to pay attention when it suggests I take an alternate route. Doing so prevents me from running smack dab into traffic jams. Best of all, it's so easy to update. Connect to wifi and the unit quickly notifies me of available map, speed and red light camera updates. I've owned several TomToms. This is the best so far. Bought a 2nd one for my wife, she was so impressed. Highly recommended.

Great navigation and super easy to use. I've always had a TomTom and this one replaced my old one which decided to give out after 5 years. On a long trip, I prefer to use this vs our car navigation.
