Great All Around GPS
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendThis is my 3rd stand GPS unit, and by far my favorite. The live services are great, in particular the HD traffic. It takes a minute or 2 to get synced, but then it works great. Lets me know where any delays are, and how long of a delay there is. Most importantly whether it's worth getting off the route you're on would be any faster or not. TomTom has always been very intuitive to operate, but the voice navigation makes it even easier, really works great. I have to say, I thought I was going to hate the fold and go mount because my previous devices have had issues falling off the windshield while I was driving, but this one has a great locking system which works really well so far. I do however wish they would come with a separate dock that is powered so I didn't have to spend time plugging in the device and taking it all down during long trips. Having the separate hot dock would allow me to mount permanently and hide the cable. So far battery life is just over 2 hours which is great for commuting and most of my driving trips, but longer life would always be better. Lastly I had an issue during set up. When logging into the website the first time they said I could create a new account, or use my pre-existing one. So I used my pre-existing login, and it just seemed to confuse everything. So it tried to give my free year of live services to my old gps. In the end I had to call TomTom and they nicely straightened it all out for me. But to avoid this hassle, I would sign up as a new user to avoid the hassle. Very happy overall though.

Good GPS, but not over the top thrilled
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI love the HD Traffic Alert, but when you first buy the Tom Tom GPD, the Go Live services are difficult and uploading features and maps very difficult. I plugged it up to my computer to set up the Tom Tom account and current maps, would not read the GPS then when I uninstalled and re installed the software, the GPS said no maps available and had to do a hard reset about five times. It took about three hours to update, but everything is working find as of now. Also it said free Gas Price Updates, not true you have to pay for it.

For the price, it could be better
|Posted .No, I would not recommend this to a friendBeing new to Oahu, I wanted to ensure that my navigational skills were maximized and accurate. After purchase I visited website and found that an update was required. This process took way to long. Getting from point A to B is easy with the device, as long as you can find point B on the GPS. As long as you have a complete address, no problem. Finding a business, park, or beach in another area is difficult at best. Having Yelp and gas price locator is good, but cameras, speed traps not so much. This could be operator error, but in a case like that "ease of operation" should be considered.

Would Not Recommend TomTom Anymore!
Posted .No, I would not recommend this to a friendAfter having owned a TomTom XL for many years, I decided to upgrade to a GO Live 1535. I have had the unit for a month and it has been one problem after another. First, the unit is prone to lock on the start screen, necessitating connection to my PC to unlock it (the soft reset procedure does not work). The PC interface software- MyTomTom- recently updated by TomTom, warns of "phantom updates"- a TomTom user's term for updates that aren't actually there. Your MyTomTom software prompts you to connect the device to your PC to download updates, only to tell you once connected that there are no updates. It is maddening. On the road I've had the device become confused and recommend impossible turns. When the GO is working properly, it gives mostly what used to be great TomTom routing. I've had it lock up. I paid $60 for a year of the HD Services only to have HD Traffic not work for hours (this on an interstate lined by cell towers). The Fuel Prices are apparently non-functional. The other Services are useful if you don't tend to plan ahead and want to look for a hotel, restaurant or nightlife when you get there. The Bluetooth is marginal. The GO cannot access my LG's phonebook, but can make calls of mediocre tonal quality using the phone. The voice recognition is also hit and miss. Be prepared to repeat yourself several times to frustration, and then give up and enter the address manually. TomTom support is poor. While the customer service people try hard, some of the persons I dealt with made conversations in English difficult. I had several issues with setting up my Lifetime Map updates and, while the people themselves tried very hard, the automated system TomTom had set up caused me to have to resort to multiple calls to resolve the issues. The company providing the advertised "Roadside Assistance" is a third party provider who STILL has not sent me any information on what exactly the do. Overall, I am sad to say that I would not recommend TomTom. When my subscription to the on/off HD Services is over, I plan on getting rid of this unit and going with my first Garmin. I know nothing of them, but their reviews seem quite positive. My old TomTom XL did fine service as a navigator for many years. It's too bad this GO Live 1535M apparently shares little to none of that pedigree.

Great product, works smoothly, cant beat for price
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI love the blu tooth capabilities, and the traffic updates. It also warns you when you are near a red light camera. The only down side so far has been battery life, and the search features are rather difficult. But overall great product

Great GPS system
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendThis was bought as my old TomTom system died and I have become a big fan of the HD Traffic feature of this and other of their systems. This system has a bigger screen which is easy to see and easy to use, the voice input is also accurate even with a range of different accents of myself and some of my friends who also tried it out! All in a good system.

Tom Tom Live Go GPS1535M
|Posted .No, I would not recommend this to a friendObviously, after using three TomToms, I liked their product. However, the other models I owned before this one were easier to mount on the windshield. The voice directions on this model are "tinny." Have trouble from time to time getting satellite connection (at the most inopportune times). Can't connect to Live Services regularly, which is annoying. However, I am familiar with the way it works, so when it does work, I'm happy. This is my least favorite model. TomTom customer support is excellent.

Great GPS
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI bought both the tomtom and the garmin nuvi last black Friday and I must say the tomtom comes out as a clear winner. Granted that this Mosel is more advanced in terms of having the go live features, but what you want most from a gps is accurate and logical directions and in that respect this is far more reliable than the Garmin. Also the interface is more intuitive so it is faster to load addresses. The things that don't work so well are the voice enabled commands. It's a great idea but I think the technology needs to improve. Also the gps doesn't automatically go to the map after you've loaded an address - you have to press "done" which is a bit annoying if you've already started driving!
Q: QuestionFor the 1605 model. Does the zip code need to be entered with the address? Also, is the satellite unit located in the power cord, making it not portable?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer No, you don't need the zip code to get directions to a specific address. And the GPS function is located in the device, not the power cord, so you can use without the cord (it will just work on battery power).

Q: Questiondoes it come with free lifetime hd traffic?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer No. The GO Live 1535M comes with free map updates, but this unit has subscriber services you must pay for. Currently, it costs about $60 per year. Once your subscription is up, it receives no further traffic. You can, however, purchase an accessory DC power cable/FM traffic receiver which will allow you to receive standard traffic. HD Traffic is much more detailed and samples app. every 2 minutes. FM is less detailed (but is better than nothing) and samples app. every 15 minutes.
