Toscanini: Unreleased
This biographical documentary profiles maestro Arturo Toscanini (1867-1957) , arguably the single most important orchestral conductor of the Twentieth Century. The filmmakers shot original footage on two continents, in a number of cities central to Toscanini's life, including Milan, Lucerne, New York City, Riverdale, and Lake Maggiore. This material is bridged together with never-before-published photographs from Toscanini's archives, reflections from the conductor's descendants, and much more. It adds up to a portrait of an immensely talented but conflicted individual, who often achieved greatness but battled dissatisfaction and struggled for perfection in his music with the tenacity of a great artist. ~ Nathan Southern, Rovi
