Overall very pleased
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI know this will sound wierd, but this tv is actually a little too big for me. It didn't quite fit where I wanted it to. The picture is good, especially on the HD channels, the set-up was fairly easy although it took longer to get it to recognize the cable than I would have liked. My only complaint really is that it is a little slow to respond, and the remote has to be spot on to work. I bought a similar Toshiba in the 32" and it's pretty much the identical model just $200 cheaper. This model was cheaper than the Samsung and I don't fell like I sacrificed anything.

Good Picture
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendWe bought this TV for my son's bedroom. Mostly using the Tv for his gaming. Very surprised at how good the TV is with HD content. Picture is very sharp - bright and colorful. Sound is perfectly fine for watching programs. However the TV is light on the bass. Even with the bass on full you can just hear it. Ive just purchased an expensive large LCD 3D TV for the living room and to honest - the picture on the cheaper Toshiba is just as good. For the price I doubt you can beat it.

What I needed and what I expected for the price.
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI am perfectly satisfied with the picture quality. It's not "Pioneer Plasma" quality but it isn't Pioneer Plasma priced either. I fully enjoy watching it. I view it at a distance of about 9 feet and at no time do I find myself wishing it was better than it is. As far as having only two HDMI inputs...so what. I have it hooked up to an AVR with 4 switched HDMI inputs so in the end I only use one of the HDMI inputs on the TV anyway. I am glad it had a VGA input because I have an HP HTPC that is a few years old that I intend to hook up to it. Also, since I am using an AVR I don't use the TV sound much but I did find it to be adequate. In fact it also has a "half-mute" feature I kind of like but again, I don't use it much in favor of the 5.1 on the AVR. For what I paid I got every bit of what I hoped for. I use a Harmony remote so I have no opinion on the remote that came with the TV

Absolutely great Budget TV
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendThis was purchased to replace a Toshiba LCD Regza 720 37 inch which went into a cabin. After returning a couple of non-Toshiba LED models which had absolutely horrible sound or picture, I looked back into a Toshiba LCD. This model is very similar to the Regza if not slightly better and uses about 99 watts of power compared to the Regzas 145 watts. My digital feed comes from a outdoor antenna and the picture in this TV is full strength and A-1 perfect. Movies and Wii are also superb in picture quality and sound. This must be Toshiba's best business niche of achieving the excellent contrast to light ratio. The factory however must set it's shipping setting to "energy mode on" which turns off the backlight. YOU NEED TO GO TO SETUP AND TURN THIS SETTING OFF TO REALLY SEE HOW GOOD THIS TV IS. At first I also thought this was a very dark TV but thanks to reviews I learned about changing this setting. After that is changed then go into Preferences and adjust the backlight to your liking. I really wonder how many of these have been returned because of people not knowing that is a MUST DO on this TV. For budget price of $379 in-store I feel this TV offered the best picture/sound/size/energy efficiency out of similar lower end models. If you like fancy Remotes then stay away from this one because it is cheap. I also did purchase the two-year warranty because lower end models do have a notorious failure rate which should happen within that time. Manufacture warranty I believe is standard 1 year but have heard Toshiba is nightmare to work with.

Old school analog audio
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendIt was hard to find a tv in this price & size range that had old school rca plug analog audio out. This unit had it. Important for me as I use often use a wireless headset when watching. Hearing loss is my issue. This is good also if you are using a older receiver for sound. Also, if the picture is too dark, then there is a quick fix. Menu>Preferences> Scroll down to last entry (Energy Saving Settings)>Turn off Auto Brightness Sensor. Really made the picture a lot better in the room I use it in. Bottomline, value is here.

Product information not accurate!
Posted .No, I would not recommend this to a friendI purchased this TV last night on black friday (8 hours of standing in the cold) with the intent of getting it home and using it as a MULTIMEDIA device. I planned on having my PC, PS3 AND cable running on here and expected no issues. Well, I was wrong. The technical sheet claims this device operates at a native resolution of 1920x1080.....until you plug your pc into it. 1360x768. A bit disappointed by this. Even running at this resoultion using scaling to force 1920x1080 in games it looks horrible. Everything is very grainy and there seems to be a bit of refresh lag which is a shame being this TV isn't all that old. If you're just planning on sitting on the couch watching cable this isnt so bad (and not all that great either) but if you intend to do ANYTHING more than that please consider another device.

Decent TV for the money, no bells & whistles
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendThis is a decent 40" for the money. Good for someone who wants a basic 40" HD TV. What worries me is warranty service. Are you aware that Toshiba got out of the TV business earlier this year? This is left over stock. What happens if something fails on this unit? Will warranty service be honored, or I should say, will Toshiba be capable of honoring warranty service?

nice tv
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendMy wife uses this tv. It is ideal for our bedroom. It is not over baring. We purchase it for under $400 which I felt was a great buy. It is easy to set up. We have owned it for about a month now and have had no problems with it. I have owned several Toshiba products over the years and I have never had any problems with the company or its products. I would recommend any Toshiba product that I own.
