An Excellent TV at an Excellent Price!
|Posted .Bottom Line: The Toshiba 4K Fire TV Edition bundles an excellent viewing experience with the convenience of Amazon’s Fire TV at an unbeatable price. Pros: Great display, excellent audio output, fast and fluid Fire TV interface, good remote Cons: Best for people who are in or willing to be in the Amazon ecosystem, interface is mildly inconvenient when using connected devices, HDR-compatible but likely not a true HDR display Review: Setup is standard, and all of the important connections (HDMI, HDMI-ARC, digital out) run along the left side of the TV (rather than any on the back) making wall-mounting setup a breeze. Interestingly, the power cable isn’t instantly removable like it is on other sets, but this wasn’t an issue for my installation. I found the remote comfortable and easy to use, and it also conveniently includes dedicated buttons for Alexa as well as Netflix, Amazon Prime, HBO, and Playstation Vue. After a software update and brief tutorial, the TV opens to its native Fire TV interface, which incorporates all of the apps and live HDTV channels that can be scanned through the coaxial connection. Picture quality was very good (including 1080p upscaling) and exceeded my expectations for television at this price point. I was also particularly surprised by the volume and quality of the audio output, and I think many users will be quite satisfied with the built-in speakers. As one would expect, Amazon content is prime and center, and you’ll need to either have or create an Amazon account to get the most out of the device. The Fire TV interface is easy to navigate and popular apps for sports and other content are also available. The system, including app and input switching, feels fast and fluid. Alexa on the remote works well, and I have no issues with the voice recognition accuracy. You can also connect the TV to your other Alexa-enabled devices, which integrates the set into your smart home setup. Having said this, this set is really geared toward people who are either in or willing to be in the Amazon/Alexa ecosystem. Thus, my one minor issue - and perhaps I simply haven’t found the right setting - is that the set doesn’t power on and automatically switch to the the correct HDMI input when you turn on your connected device. This means that if you’re using a set top box, you will have to click the correct HDMI from the Fire TV interface after you turn on the set. This isn’t a huge deal, but it is annoying if you’re used to your TV automatically playing from your box when you turn it on. Finally, I believe this is an HDR-compatible rather than true HDR display (this means the set can read an HDR signal but the display can’t quite output the full range of the image). I didn’t see any HDR designations on the packaging nor could I find any specifications in the documentation. Based on my viewing, it looks comparable to other HDR-compatible displays I’ve seen, and I think all but the most discerning viewers would be very happy with this TV.

Nice TV with loads of Goodies
|Posted .The Toshiba couldn’t be easier to setup. Once it is out of the box the setup runs smoothly, takes very little time to be operational. The Quick Start Guide is well laid out and understandable. Gather your network Wi-Fi name and password if using Wi-Fi, if wired all the better. It does include RJ-45 Ethernet port. Mine is Wi-Fi and streaming has been smooth sailing. Grab your Alexa login info as well if you have a Echo account. Alexa/Echo is built into the system, just speak to the controller. Pretty cool dimming the Hue lights, checking the weather on my weather station, etc. all from the remote! You can also pair the TV to an Echo device if you like, I find the remote works much better as you can hold close to your voice. It makes a great Echo device, speak into the remote and the sound is supplied by the Toshiba’s Onkyo speakers. The Onkyo speakers sound quite good with DTS Studio Sound and Dolby audio technologies. Picture is crisp with good color - excellent. System runs smoothly, response time is exceptional with the Quad-core CPU/Multi-core GPU goodies inside. Graded a Four Star instead of Five because when I want to turn on DIRECTV must first use the DIRECTV remote to turn on the TV and the Genie together, does not start connected to the DIRECTV Genie you start on the Fire Home page. Step 2 use the Toshiba remote to select the HDMI for DIRECTV. Step 3 go back to DIRECTV remote to watch TV. That’s not fun. Hoping Toshiba adds an update soon that allows you to select where you land when you turn your system on. Bottom-Line, this is an excellent system and enjoy having it in our home. You would be very hard pressed to find more technology and a set of this quality at this price point anywhere. If this TV fits your needs and budget it should be an easy choice.

Great quality tv!
|Posted .This is a no frills tv. It has a good interface, Fire tv. You can install many apps, including the basics like Netflix. It has currently retired my roku 3 since all the apps are in this tv and in 4K. I didn't see any indication of HDR enabled in the box, however some shows in netflix do show HDR in their description, however when launching the show, there is no way to know if HDR is really working as there is no visual indicator in the tv. There are some quirks in the interface, in example, you can only see the video info when you just switched to the input, you can press the 3 lines button and it will tell you the resolution, the audio format and just that. If you wait until later, it will not work and will not display it. Other quirk is you cannot change your picture settings once you are viewing your program, you have to all the way out to main menu, then select the input and then you can change your picture settings. Hopefully this can improved in future firmware updates. Other than that, the 4k picture is great, hdmi ports are indeed 2.0. Great little tv for the price, I now have 4k on my kitchen!

Posted .Hi,
Thank you very much for your review of our Toshiba Amazon Fire TV Edition TV. Following up on your comments around how to check if HDR content is playing - While playing HDMI or streaming content, press and hold the Home button on the remote and then select "Info" on the overlay menu. This will show program information including "HDR" if the content is HDR enabled.
This method also can be used to quickly access Picture, Sound, and other settings too while watching content.

Excellent bedroom television
||Posted .Owned for 1 week when reviewed. My old flat screen TV went out after 4 1/2 years of good service. Took a chance on buying a TV with Amazon Fire Stick built in but I haven't had any problems and love it. Only thing I wish the TV would allow is when you power it on, it would go right to HDMI 1 without selecting it. I have to use 2 remotes when accessing my digital cable tuner.

Lovely Toshiba
||Posted .I purchased this smart TV 43” for my bedroom. The size is quite nice which I plan on hanging it on the wall, picturing is terrific, and the many channels that is installed makes me love my tv all the more. This TV offers sling tv for 30 days, Netflix, allow fire stick capability with ease, moreover a voice remote. I am really pleased that I choose the Toshiba 43” Smart UHDTV 2160 as my personal brand for my bedroom. The sound system is also very good, especially that I’m not using it with a surround system.

No wires!
||Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed.Because we use the Amazon Fire Recast to view local over the air programming, nothing has to be plugged into this monitor other than power. The monitor looks great and is very light so it mounted on the wall very easily. Oh, and better yet ONLY NEEDS ONE REMOTE!

Love it!
||Posted .I purchased this item a few weeks ago to replace a Ruku tv that I purchased from Walmart and returned the next day. Went to BB and purchase this tv for a few bucks less than the other TV. I have used a fire stick for the last 3 years and it has saved me countless dollars on cable and this tv has the fire stick menu and I was able to load my apps for watching TV and movies. I love the picture and the sound isn't too bad although I use a sound bar for tv. I also like the Bluetooth capabilities so that I can pair my headphones to the TV at night and not disturb others who are sleeping. So far a great tv and worth every penny I spent. I purchased my last tv from BB almost 7 years ago and although it is slowly going out it still works. This TV was upgrade for sure from both my old TV and the crap one from Walmart. I usually purchase all of my electronics from Best buy because a family member that worked at Walmart told me they do not take care of their stuff as it's being unloaded and stocked so things get damaged before we buy it. I've never had that trouble with Best Buy so I continue to purchase all my electronics from them. Thanks Best Buy!

Good for the price
||Posted .Owned for 2 months when reviewed.I like all of the featured apps this tv comes with and the size and price. Comes with the Amazon fire stick remote control w/Alexa voice control. This tv has live playback/pause...Wich is pretty cool. The only things I don't like is if you don't have Wi-Fi every time you cut the tv on it changes to the xfinity WiFi screen....also when using an antenna the channels are not numbered like on most tv's they're displayed by the syndication channel ex(WHDH,PBS,MTV ect.) You WILL NOT get the full enjoyment of this tv unless u have internet access!!

- A:Answer I have chosen basic on my new TV, have done all the steps, put it on HDMC1, when we go to put it on every morning it does not turn on automatically go right to cable. We have to go to settings and put it to HMDC1. Is there a way to not get that screen when turning on? Spoke to a rep yesterday and was disconnected and did not receive a call back. 43LF621U19
