Best TV ever
Posted .I am really satisfied with this TV. I feel like I have my own movie theater in my house. It was just delivered and I decided to pop in Avater into my DVD player... The colors are great on this TV. I have regular satellite right now but will soon get HD so I can truly maximize what this TV has to offer. I think the sound quality is excellent. I don't have the volume really high and can still hear everything perfectly. Although I do want a sound system. I have hooked it up yet with the HDMI cables and it still is great. For the price you really can't beat it. Totally recommend this TV to anyone.

TV is Excellent for Skeptical Price
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI saw this TV for 999 on online and in the Black Friday Ad for 969 and I was skeptical at how good this TV was really going to be. I dont have much experience or hear much from the outside world on Toshiba Tv's. I really love Panasonic, Sony, and Samsung TV's but for the price and the size I just had to know if it was any good. I went out on a whim and bought it anyway and figured if I didnt like it I would return it and just buy something else. Let me tell you I am not dissatisfied. The screen is big just like what I wanted, 1080p is crystal clear on the screen, the color tones are natural, the black level is good, and its easy to mess with the setting without even looking at the manual. The only things I dont like about it is when you watch HD cable it still has a tad bit of pixelation when you get close to the screen. Ive seen TV's that have excellent processors in them that keep cable pxelation at bay but this TV isnt quite as good, However; with 1080p Blu-Rays and games there is no pixelation even if you put your face on the screen. The other minor iffy I have is the backlight can be too bright if you watch it in a completely dark room and needs to be turned down manually because that light can washout blacks. All in all its a darn good TV for a price tag below $1000.

Excellent TV! Much better than the LG it replaced!
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI ordered this TV on Black Friday and it finally came in last night. I had 2 LG flat panel's before, both 47", a 47LH30 and a 47LC7DF. This Toshiba 55HT1U blows them both away in every way. I would highly recommend this set to anyone, best deal on a 55" out there other than plasma tv's . The picture is amazing, I use HDMI only, so I can't say what the other inputs look like. Gran Turismo 5 looks amazing on this set, as does Forza 3, Bioshock 2, etc etc. I fired up the Avatar Blu Ray disc, and my jaw just about hit the floor. The picture quality and amount of on screen detail is amazing. Very satisfied with my purchase, I was not expecting it to be this good! One word of advice, if you plan to wall mount this unit or use a vertical mount TV stand like I do, where the TV uses a VESA mount and the normal TV base is not used, you will need a set of 4, 20mm M8 screws, you can get them at Home Depot for 76 cents each.

Great TV!
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendWent to the Paramus store yesterday and bought this TV. I was hesitant cause I didn't know much about Toshiba with regards to the new HDTV and LCDs, PLasma, ETC. But I took a chance, and figured that for the price it was worth takling the chance. I was right! Took it home yesterday and set it up in about 25 minutes. The picture is amazing. My parents spent $1000 more than me a few weeks ago for a different brand, and my tv looks just as good as theres! A great buy, and great price. Most definitely a "best buy."

Great TV
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI bought the Insignia 55" LCD TV. After doing some research I found this model at a competitor for $850. I returned the Insignia which had horrible game lag and purchased this model. I'm a very picky TV purchaser and a retailers worst nightmare. I will return a tv or any product if I find any little flaw at all. I found no dead pixels or anything to warrant not liking this tv. First of all if people are having issues with this TV most likely they have no clue on what they are doing. I have heard of the issue of the TV's turning on by themselves. Turn off Regza link. This is a feature that controls other HDMI connected products. Most of these products have a sleep feature which means these products will be on all the time, which sends a signal to the tv to turn on. Turn this feature off. Secondly, if there is video game lag use game mode and turn off the smooth motion 120hz effect. Most 120hz tv's will lag when they have smooth motion turned on. This TV doesn't have all the fancy internet functions. I don't think paying an extra $200-300 for these features when most Blu-Ray, Game Consoles, and other devices have these already built in.

Umm, Awesome
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendRight out of the box, this TV was incredible. Nice look to the outside (big fan of the piano black). Couldn't be easier to set up. I powered it on, it asked for the language setting, then asked what environment it would be used in (Retail, Home...), I selected the "Home" setting, and have made no adjustments since. The blacks are black, the whites are white, and everything in between is vibrant and beautiful. My wife is very technophobic. Her jaw dropped (there may have even been a bit of drool) and the only thing that could come out of her mouth was "Wow." A very quiet "Wow", but wow just the same. I have a friend that does TV repair for a living. Has for like 20 years or something. He said "I hate Toshibas." I asked him why. His statement "I hate Sony, Toshiba and Sharp. I never have to fix them." Pretty good reason to get one, in my book. There are some things to get used to. I do see some of the "motion blur" that some people complain about, even with a hi-speed rated HDMI cable. It is not bad though. I also do now understand now what I have heard about other larger 1080p TV's. On the real good HD feeds, the picture has a kind of, for lack of a better term, "Soap Opera" effect. It's kind of strange to get used to, but the picture is crystal clear. I watched CSI Miami on it the other night, and you could see the details on the latex gloves they were wearing. Like I said before, "Awesome" The sound does leave some to be desired for audiophiles. Get a sound bar or surround sound if it's a big deal to you. I have owned 720p, 1080i, and 1080p tv's. Don't let anyone tell you that they are all the same. On a larger screen TV (over 50 inches), 1080p ROCKS!!

Happy!
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendSo, my husband and I started TV shopping about a month ago. We weren't really sure what type of TV we should get (plasma, lcd, etc). We knew the LED were probably out of our league. The plasma tvs have a beautiful picture, but for gaming, we knew we could run into some trouble. So, we ended up with an LCD. This Toshiba was on sale and had excellent reviews. We are extremely happy with the purchase. The tv itself has a gorgeous picture, especially in HD. The only reason I gave the sound four stars is because the speakers are located sort of underneath the tv, so thus, it sends the sound down vs. out to the viewers. Sort of strange. We have the tv hooked up to surround sound, but I thought I should let those that may not have surround sound know where the speakers are at. It isn't awful, but a little strange. Overall, we are happy with the tv. My husband loves the gaming mode which allows the remote to send signals faster than when using the normal mode. Lots of different options under the menu as far as color, contrast, etc. This tv was significantly less than most other tvs this size. Good sale? I don't know. It's been at this price for over two weeks. So, knocking on wood, unless there are issues in the future, we are happy with our purchase and would recommend this Toshiba to others.

Our 3rd Toshiba-the best ever!!!!
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendWOW! Right out of the box and I am in TV heaven!! This is our 3rd Toshiba, our 2nd LCD (other in basement). We couldn't be more happy with this purchase! The color is amazing! Crystal clear!! We have surround sound but even without it the sound is very good! We replaced a Toshiba 52 ince rear projection which we had for 8 years and NEVER had one problem! My sister has it now. I am a true fan of this brand!!
