Really a great little hard drive. Easy to install and understand how it works. It comes with some extra files and stuff that I don't know how to use or what they're for but it doesn't seem to be a problem overall.
Small enough to carry anywhere!

I bought thus during a sale at an excellent price for 1TB of USB 3.0 storage in a slim form factor. The device performs well despite negative reviews found on Amazon and Toshiba's website. I've had it for about 1 month and it hasn't died. It stays plugged in to my desktop and always powers on and shows up in my drive list in the file explorer. Transfer speeds were more than adequate with the included USB 3.0 cable. It draws power from the cable which is a huge plus. My much larger 2TB backup drive needed a bulky AC adapter. So long power cable hassle! Can I vouch for long-term? No. But it appears to be solid. Drive does include 143MB of pre-installed software, driver files, and PDF manuals. Total available space shows as 931GB. Long story short, 4 stars for the past incident-free 4 weeks of ownership.

I have purchased many of these USB Portable Hard Drives. They're great when you need to store and mail large files or to use as backups for your personal information.

We bought two of these little 1TB drives over two years ago, and have used them hard. One we use for movies when we go camping, and the other is used for backing up our photos when we travel. They are compact, lightweight and fast (for a mechanical hard drive). We have never had a problem with either of them. Note, we did recently buy a new Samsung 500GB external SSD drive as a second backup for our photos, and it is so much smaller, lighter and light-years faster, but it was also about four times as much! So for cheap, reliable external storage, I would still recommend these Toshiba drives.

Purchased this external USB drive for extra storage. It has a nice small size and is a USB 3.0 drive but numerous drive are about its size and can store files. What really pleased me was the included software. It included backup software but what was really a nice surprise was the lifetime PogoPlug license and software. It allows you to use directories like cloud storage but where your PC is the cloud server. No limit to the amount of files that can be made available remotely. Your computer has to be on, of course, to access the files since it is acting as the server.

I caught this on sale when I was looking for additional data storage to use with my laptop. Since color didn't matter to _me_, I got a blue one because the black one _wasn't_ on sale but the _blue_ one _was_. ;-)
I've already used this drive while at a SQL Saturday (okay, I'm a geek ;-) and it was as handy as I expected it to be. The fact that it is, as indicated in the summary, light weight and compact _makes_ it convenient and the fact that it is fast (I used a USB 3.0 connection) makes it really nice.

A:Yes (assuming the Mac Is recent enough). You will need to install the included software (an NTFS driver) on your Mac-based system. Then both devices will be able to read and write to the hard drive.
A:Bob,
The drive is not formatted out of the box to work natively with a Mac so it has to format it format first. Once you do that, then Time Machine will be able to use the drive AND you will be able to drag-n-drop files to it. I just did this process today. Before the reformat, Mac can read/write to it just because of the driver (software) the Mac is using. If you already have files on the drive though, be sure to copy them some place because formatting the drive so Time Machine can work will erase the contents on the drive first. After the format has completed, you can move the data back (just stay out of the folder time machine created).
