One of the best Laptops for the Price (Gaming+)
Posted .Alot of you might be looking on here for a legitimate gaming review. Well here you go. I bought a copy of this and the Elder Scrolls Anthology upon arrival. I have played Morrowind, Oblivion & I have been playing Skyrim. You can play Skyrim on medium settings. It works fine with little to no lag. I have also played: - Smite - League of Legends - Unturned - World of Warcraft - Dragon Nest - The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth - Orion: Prelude - Amnesia - Far Cry 3 PROS: - Good amount of recent and previous titles able to play right from the beginning. - Fast speed - Quad Core A-8 Processor makes games run fast. - Good backlit 15 inch display - very functional keyboard CONS: - Touchpad is quite horrible - long startup time - Windows 8.1 - updates take a long time ADVICE: - Pick up a gaming mouse This is a VERY decent, VERY affordable gaming laptop. I have enjoyed it quite alot. It plays the games i want to play with little to no hassle. Of course this game isn't going to play brand new demanding titles like Far Cry 4, Titanfall, Dragon Age or high quality titles like that. But there are tons of games that work perfectly on this laptop. And at the price this is a steal. NOW if you'll excuse me I'm going back to playing Smite.

What a great laptop
Posted .I've had this laptop for seven years. I bought it brand new from Best Buy seven years ago. It's got me through working from home 40 plus hours a week to starting back college. I did upgrade the ram to 12 GB not the max 16 GB, but the laptop lasted me years without complaints. Even the factory battery lasted that long and would still hold a charge. It's sad to say they don't make Toshiba products at all anymore they're sold by Dynabook I'm not a fan of them. Anyway, after all of these years, I upgraded to the HP Desktop All in one, and what a difference in seven years of technology makes. After I dropped the Toshiba laptop on the hardwood floor making the laptop break into a flat pancake and breaking off the power source from the motherboard. I will miss this laptop and its worth every penny I paid for it back in the day.

Good Deal if U get it for under $ 300
Posted .This is the best value if you get it for under $ 300 on sale. I wanted an Intel based one but the price premium was too much. Besides, AMD graphics are superior to the Intel HD graphics. This PC worked out of the box pretty good. Uninstalled Norton, adjusted track pad settings, un-installed many silly apps. CONS: No Hard Drive activity light. This thing is sorta flimsy plastic. Be careful with it. it cannot take too many hits. Removing battery requires removing screws on the bottom There's no easy way to install Windows 8.1 32 Bit or windows 7. With laptops of just 4GB ram , 32 bit is faster.

I cannot in good conscience recommend this laptop
||Posted .I really really wanted to like this laptop. It had good specs, should have performed well, but has several glowing flaws that even the store display models have. 1) Green screen playing videos. Yes, even the Windows DEMO video plays in green!! How poor is that. OK, easily resolved by installing something like K-lite codec pack but this is real sloppy out the box. 2) Wi-fi connection kept dropping. Totally frustrating and almost unuseable. Fix involved installing new drivers for the wi-fi and disabling the power saving feature that was being too aggressive and turning the wi-fi off to save power lol. Once again, fixable but real sloppy out the box. 3) The trackpad. Good lord. I have NEVER in all my years of using laptops experienced a worse trackpad. It freezes, refuses to respond, and dissappears for minutes at a time on occasion (and yes, the trackpad was activated). At this point, as the laptop was for my wife we'd both had enough with a brand new laptop that can't even get the basics right. 4) Other observations and notes: There are around 4GB of updates from the get-go... I am certain people complained it was slow due to it downloading in the background and them not realizing it. AFTER all the updates were done/applied and update turned off, this machine still randomly froze, refused to respond even to key presses and just felt glitchy. It has relatively nice hardware for the price... not understanding why it performed so badly in exceptionally light usage. After reading countless other reviews of this and other similar Toshiba laptop, I happily returned it for store credit (outside the 14 days return period unfortunately). Replaced it with a Touch screen HP i3 with 6GB, and that has been an absolute dream to use for my wife. Totally flawless experience for her after setting it up :-) I do not recommend the Toshiba Laptop,

Crash Master

Posted .Thank you for the review, ADubb, and sorry to hear about the blue screen problem.
One possible source of the problem could be replacement of Toshiba-supplied and customized drivers with generic drivers, by using the Windows Update tool to update "optional" software. (Using Windows Update to install "critical" software should not be an issue.)
I recommend running a Windows Reset in this case. See the Toshiba knowledge base article and its embedded "how to" video at http://forums.toshiba.com/t5/System-Recovery-and-Recovery/How-To-Understanding-System-Restore-Refresh-Reset-and-Recovery/ta-p/342690 for more details.
If that doesn't resolve the problem, please contact Toshiba support at 800-457-7777 for more troubleshooting help.
Thanks again for the feedback and for choosing Toshiba.

Great daily laptop for many users @ a great price!
||Posted .Needed a new laptop after my Acer crashed - did a lot of research on what to buy. Honestly not sure if I could have found a better computer for the price. It has everything my family needs for daily e-mailing, book-keeping, schoolwork, internet use, and pretty great graphics for video and gaming. Only suggestion - if you are going to use your music player a lot, you may want to buy some portable speakers for a bit better sound quality.

Q: QuestionLaptop reboots with Firefox useOverall, this laptop works fine, however, I noticed that the system just shutdowns with the use of Firefox. Literally, it just shutdown with no warning, except for the message 'system thread exception not handled'. I wasn't sure whether it is a driver problem or not.
Asked by VinnyP.
- A:Answer This happens to me as well, & as a developer I see firefox having issues with a 64 bit system? I believe firefox will admit to that fact, talk to mozzilla.org for more insight into the 64 bit operating system fail with firefox, & perhaps better things will come of firefox!

Q: QuestionAnybody know if the AMD Radeon R5 card is the M255 or the M230?
Asked by orkin.
- A:Answer This isn't a dedicated card. It is an integrated R5 graphics card, so therefore, neither. The R5 M255 and R5 M230 are dedicated cards.

Q: QuestionUpgrading ramCan the ram in this system be easily upgraded to 8gig or more? I ask because some of the modern day laptops no longer have the easy access cover on the underside of the laptop and instead require you removing the keyboard and case etc to get to the ram.
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Yes. The back cover comes off when all the screws and battery is removed. There is a video on Youtube that shows how to do this on a similar model to this, just search the model # with upgrade memory hard drive. Anyway, it can be upgraded to 16 GB total.

Q: QuestionHow do I fix this blue screen?I ordered this computer and it arrived today, and with 2 hours of using it, after I sign in from just turning it on, there is a blue screen and I can't do anything. I can do ctrl +alt + delete but can't do much from there. Super frustrated and would love to know how to get off this blue screen!
Asked by Layne33.
- A:Answer Generally a 'blue' screen is a bad sign. Means there potentially is a corruption in the OS. This is often associated with a virus but if it's new then that's really not good! If it is new, simply return it for a replacement. If it's a refurbished/second hand unit check the return policy. In any case it will need a specialist repair. You can also reset the unit to factory settings, usually by pressing the F11 key upon starting the PC. But do check your laptop guide that should have accompanied the unit. I'm not an authorised expert and this is purely info. You should, in my opinion, get the unit checked over by an authorised dealer.

- A:Answer If the touchpad is unresponsive Try these. 1. Turn off the Laptop 2. Remove battery and accesories like USB 3. Hold the power button for 30 seconds 4. Put the battery and turn it on. If this doesn't work update the drivers and try these again. This video from Toshiba can help you. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kLruGEAcT_4
