This is a great laptop at a reasonable price. The only con about this laptop is that the mousepad sometimes doesn't want to act correctly.

I had higher expectations for a Toshiba product. I am a bit disappointed.

We'll get the bad out of the way first, like the other reviews, it's dropped wifi a little over half a dozen times in the week I've owned it. This seems to happen in waves, it's fine for a while and then loses connection a couple times in the span of an hour or so. The sound quality is not on par with the laptop it replaced, I would even go as far to say the Toshiba Satellite I have from '05 has better speakers. Even with the use of ear buds, the sound is quiet and not very impressive. It gets the job done, but lacks impact of any kind. A personal complaint, the shell of the laptop just gets finger prints all over it any time I decide to move it from its desk, but that can be overlooked. Now the things it does right, it's pretty fast. Boots (to the welcome screen) in less than 10 seconds and most applications are up in a matter of seconds. The APU is actually running R5 graphics, not R4 as listed here, so it's able to run most older games at a playable framerate (Fallout 3 runs around 40-50fps on high settings with AA turned off). Which I found pretty impressive for a laptop at this price range. The battery lasts for a little more then 4 hours when in moderate use and the screen brightness at 40%, so I'm pretty sure one could get 5 hours out of it. Shoot me for saying this, but I'm actually liking Windows 8.1, it's sleek and fairly easy to transition to if you're coming from Windows 7. The major difference would be the appearance of the start menu, but aside from appearance, it holds the functionally as it has in past Windows versions. All-in-all, it fulfills what I was looking for and is held back by the wifi connection and the unexceptional sound quality. With that in mind, I'll give it a 4 out of 5 stars. I'm pretty happy with my purchase and recommend this to anyone that's looking for a budget laptop.

I got this Laptop for my brother, who was looking for a decent computer on a Budget. Overall, It's very good for schoolwork, great for an office, and decent for gaming: Pros: -Decent APU: Although not the best performing Processor, It does do decent performance, whether for the office, schoolwork, and low-end gaming. -Decent Hard Drive: At 750GB, it will store files, programs, and yes, some Games you plan to play. -Good Webcam: Works great for Skype Video-chat. Cons: -Integrated Graphics: The R4 Graphics on this won't play games very well. You will have to turn down the resolution and quality in most games to get any playable frame rates. -RAM: While not really a con, 4GB of RAM is good enough for business and school purposes, but it isn't that good in terms of gaming. Final Thoughts: This Laptop is meant for the Businessman or student who needs a decent Laptop for programs, work, or light gaming. If you're looking for something that will play games at 720p on Ultra, look somewhere else. As for Businessmen or those on a budget, this is a decent choice. SoundFX09's Rating: 7.5/10.

I am impressed at the AMD A8 processor & 4GB RAM! It also has the CD/DVD drive which will be going bye-bye pretty soon. Companies will be going to USBs primarily. This came with three USBs (one being a 3.0), one HDMI & hookup for another monitor if I choose to. Also has a 750GB hard drive which is plenty for my use. My Windows XP finally went out on me so I bought this which came with Windows 8.1. I didn't have any problems switching over. It's my first laptop & happy with it so far.

I bought this laptop for my girlfriend at Best Buy for $350.00. It's a great laptop for the price! The AMD A8 processor is very fast, boots up quickly and the 4GB memory is more than enough for WIN8. Set up was a breeze and wireless connection was a snap. The case has great lines and is sleek and very light. For my girlfriend's computing needs, she probably won't need more than 4GB of memory. But, if you needed more memory, you cannot expand it. If you read the specifications under "System Memory (RAM) Expandable To" it says Nonexpandable. Also, this laptop does not have a touch screen but what can you expect for $350.

Runs Windows 8. IE11 constantly stops working when closing program. Screen goes green on video (ie facebook. and others), have to restart.. Touch mouse does not work properly most of the time. stutters, will not move. Bought to watch Netflix during traveling so works great once starting. (have not tried with low WIFI signal yet). Not lightning fast but good.

My second replacement laptop identical to the first, has operated much better but still not perfectly. I had to have Toshiba support address an issue where any video play was met with a blank green screen. After that problem was resolved I immediately began getting warning signals that my AMD driver was not matching the needs of my system. I am guessing the technician overlooked something in his repair process, which I then attempted to resolve myself. Overall it has been a very stressful start on a Toshiba laptop (my first experience with any laptop) and I hope the best is yet to come, as I do like the device when I can get everything to work properly.
