Good Lap Top System
Posted .Computer works with no problems out of the Box. The touch pad is placed to far to the left for me but this unit is fast and reliable.
I would recommend this to a friendRating 5 out of 5 stars with 1 review
For the price, EXCELLENT
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendThis Toshiba does not have the fastest processor available, it's an entry level Pentium dual-core - but it's based on the latest generation of processors = cool to the touch, excellent battery life, and better video performance. For those interested, the WEI (Windows Experience Index) scores are as follows: - Processor: 5.9 - Memory: 7.7 - Graphics: 5.1 - Gaming graphics: 5.8 - Hard drive: 5.9 Battery life is excellent on the 'balanced' power setting with the screen brightness turned down. I can get just over 5 hours. That rivals the battery life of my netbook! That to me is very impressive on a full sized laptop. Speakers are definitely on the better end. My last two laptops had tiny junk speakers, and they were fairly expensive, the one I just got rid of was a mid-range Core-i3. Speakers on this one are great that can get loud without sounding junk. For $350, performance is excellent. It can handle 1080p HD video, multitasking, Office, iTunes, email, Facebook etc. It's an entry level computer but don't let that fool you. This will be able to handle whatever you throw at it . My desktop is a quad-core with dual hard drives and tons of memory, but I'm still impressed by this Toshiba considering the price. I bought one for myself, then my girlfriend bought one, and then a family member bought one. All in all, this is a bargain. Great battery life, nice screen, stays cool, plenty fast, great speakers, and a good keyboard.

Great So Far
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI've only had this laptop for 2 days, but so far it has been flawless. If you're like me, you're very nervous about getting something like a laptop at a reasonable price because most deals are too good to be true. But, honestly, this laptop is great and available at a great price. When I was researching laptops, I read a lot of reviews. For the most part I could get a good idea of the sturdiness and quality of the display, keyboard, etc., but most reviews, I thought, were unsuccessful in describing performance with vague things like "it's fast" or "it's slow." To give you an idea of the performance of this toshiba, I played a netflix movie online as well as five different videos on youtube and playing music, and it was perfect. None of the videos skipped even once. I played one video and opened a second browser and loaded the second video and it worked the way it would if I wasn't multitasking. The only thing that managed to slow down this machine was my cheap not-so-high-speed internet. So, if you don't have to run some type of crazy demanding business software, or something of that nature, this laptop will handle almost any task you give it. As for the quality of construction, the keyboard is sturdy and has rather big keys which makes for a comfortable typing experience. The screen is clear with a wide viewing angle. The screen also holds in place well with little rocking. The touchpad has some texture to it, which I like. Overall, it is just great. It is, however, only day 2, so something could still go wrong. But, I have put it under stress and it handled it well, so I really think this machine can't be beaten for the price/performance.

Great laptop at an equally great price.
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI needed a laptop that had great specs, not necessarily top of the line as I do not game or edit multimedia much. As a broke med student, my budget was pretty tight and I really didn't want to have to go back and buy a brand new laptop a year later, this baby has to last. I've had this laptop for about two weeks now and couldn't be happier. The graphics are great for videos even in highest resolution youtube/hulu offers. It multitasks really well and doesn't seem to lose any speed when I have multiple applications running. The power up is quick but I only have my old PCs for comparison. One of the great things someone already mentioned is that this laptop doesn't have a lot of junk software preloaded that needs to be removed, my boyfriend was amazed at this particular point. This laptop is really NOT that heavy, any one of my school books would be heavier. I liked the silver/white finish but wanted to individualize my laptop with one of those skinz, since the laptop case is very light/nearly white, I had no limitations on the colors I could use...which is nice because the design I liked best has a white section. If I had written a review earlier, there would be a con to add: the sound seems "too soft" when using built in or accessory speakers. As someone who likes to listen to music on nearly highest settings, that was frustrating. Frustrating enough that last week I researched whether it is a mechanical or software problem. Thankfully it is software (the defaults are set to "surround sound" or something like that) and after changing the settings, the sound sounds impressive and clear. I cannot personally attest that this laptop will fit the last description, I know that Toshiba is top in reliability (along with Asus according to research done by squaretrade.com, an extended warrantee provider). I purchased a warrantee but I am confident that I am unlikely to need it. Here is the info http://www.squaretrade.com/htm/pdf/SquareTrade_laptop_reliability_1109.pdf I am sure if you put this machine through the hell and brimstone, you will find faults with its performance. If like me, you need a machine that can do basic entertainment/work/study functions and keep up with the time (the processor in this model is actually pretty new and even suitable for some gaming), this laptop is a good choice. Highly recommended.

Great purchase so far!
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendAfter spending countless hours looking at different laptops online, reading reviews, driving to stores I finally decided to bite the bullet and purchase this Toshiba. I couldnt bring myself to spend $500+ on a laptop and my netbook was in desperate need of replacement. Everything i read about this toshiba seemed great, I went to best buy and checked it out and picked it up for $350 and at the time they had a package deal for $400 I got the toshiba, a logitech wireless mouse and a new HP wireless photo printer. how could i go wrong! Ive had the toshiba just shy of 1 week and havent had any issues so far. they keyboard is solid, the added bonus of the numeric keypad is a plus for me, the display size is great, the charging cord is extra long. my only gripes so far. (which arent really a big deal) the sd memory card slot is a pain to grab the card to remove. everything i own releases a SD card my pushing it in and it springs out so you can easily remove it. on this toshiba it doesnt work that way (unless mine is broke?) i also love the feature of being able to zoom into the webpage you are on by simply "pinching" the mouse pad and expanding your fingers just like you would on a smartphone and the webpage you are on will zoom in.. pretty cool. overall, i would recommend this to anyone at this point. it looks like best buy raised the price because it was $349 just last week on the website and that was the normal price, no online sale or anything. but even at $379 its still a deal.

Wonderful! :)
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI wasnt planning to write a review but after reading some of peoples reviews I just had to. To every bad thing people have said I could easily give a rebuttle. But I wont go through all that... This is a great computer. Not just great for price but it is just great. People whine about the way it looks and how it closes... well then I don't understand why they would purchase it then? Anyways I'm a college student and it has everything I need It runs very fast. I can hold all my music, pictures etc. There is absolutely no problem with the keyboard it works great, the speakers work great. Plus it's really light! I have no muscle whatsoever and I have no problem carrying it. One of my favorite features of this computer has to be that the only time it gets hot is when its charging. But when you're just using it and its on your lap it feels very cool. No it's not a fancy Mac or Sony Vaio, which happen to be hundreds of dollars more! It has about as big of a screen as a person could want on a laptop, a full keyboard, and a nice shiny coat. All for 379! Don't waste your money on a fancy computer that costs more to get the same feautures. Trust me this is a good computer. I recommend to any and all college students looking to save some bucks!

Best bang for the buck!!!!
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendFor me its not about the money but the hunt. I did a lot of research and this laptop offers everything I was looking for. My goal was to find a laptop for under 400.00 with at least 4 gigs of memory, webcam, hdmi port and a full keyboard and this has all of that plus more. The only other thing I could of asked for would be a 17 inch monitor but this being a widescreen I am happy with the size plus with a17 inch you need a bigger carrying case and its more of a computer to carry around. I also like that you can upgrade the memory to 8gig. It also has an Esata port which I never used before but I learned it’s a fast way to transfer videos, pics and music to and from you laptop quickly. I am very happy with my purchase. With the technology moving so quickly I feel that this laptop will still be relevant in a couple of years.

Incredible Bargain for the PRICE!
Posted .I would recommend this to a friendThe only complaint is the speakers. Not the quality but the fact you can barely hear them. The tiny speaker on my cell phone blows these 2 speakers away. Everything else operates perfectly. It is reasonably fast for a 2.0 processor and the 4 gig of RAM is a major benefit too. Other users have commented how cool it runs and I can tell you after using it for 20 hours or so on my lap I never felt any temperature or heat on my legs. My little netbook puts out more heat than this thing. The screen and picture quality are also excellent. Overall this is a nice-looking, smooth operating laptop that should be selling for over $400 but at $350 is a great bargain for just about anyone who needs a new computer. I would take this over a basic desktop any day! If not for the volume of the speakers I would give this a solid 5 stars. I realize most laptops have questionable speakers but there's really no excuse for Toshiba to put something like this in their products. The speakers are plenty big enough. There just isn't enough power going to them. I would still highly recommend this laptop to anyone...buy a headset for the sound though.
