Toshiba - Satellite Laptop with AMD Turion™ 64 X2 Dual-Core Mobile Technology TL-60

I purchased this laptop on yesterday after ecxhanging out my Gateway. My family and I perfer Toshiba for laptops because of the trusted quality and experience we've had using them. The screen is very brite and the pointer is easy to navigate. The pocessor is fast. Most of all the Toshiba comes with a recovery disc as well as plenty of information about this specific laptop and Toshiba as a company which is very helpful. More included info- accessories catalog, quick tour guide which defines a lot, warranty information and skype set-up. I love everything about this laptop. The design is very nice and looks very expensive. I especially like the lit keyboard as this can come in handy. Unlike the Gateway this Toshiba has no screen glare and that is a major A+ for me being you can view the screen form many angles. I'm not to big on speakers but the built-in Harmon/Kardon stereo speakers will blow your mind. My laptop did not get very warm or hot and I don't think the keyboard is "flemsy" at all. The keys are just shiny and smooth so this may take some time for others to get use to but it doesn't pull from the quality. As with many laptops they will get warm and this is the same as the hard drive on your desktop computer. You just notice this more on laptops because it sits in your "LAP", while your desktop/hard drive doesn't. The Gateway I exchanged ran very warm and the fan was louder than this Toshiba, so some will run warmer or hotter than others.

I usually don't write reviews, but I depend on them a lot before making big purchases, so I thought I'd contribute. I've had many, many computers in my day, and after having some successes and some failures, I looked online and did homework on the best laptop for a smaller amount of money. After doing much research on this website, this Toshiba laptop was NOT anywhere near the top of my list. Finally, I went to Best Buy to purchase the Vaio that I originally wanted. While waiting for a Sale's Rep to help me, I had a customer in the store personally take me aside to tell me how she bought this Toshiba and how it was a great purchase. I didn't listen, and when I got a Sale's Rep to help me, I made him take me to look at the Sony Vaios. I was ready to purchase one, but the model I could afford was out of stock, so I annoyingly asked, "Is the Toshiba any good?", and the Sales Rep informed me that the Toshiba was actually better than the Vaio I originally picked out AND a more expensive model. Everyone in the store praising this laptop made me reconsider and take my chances on the "cheap" computer... and let me say I am SO glad I got this laptop! I have had no problems whatsoever so far. The first great thing about this laptop is the price, and then the nice design. This laptop boots up nice and quick and has a great display, and the web cam is a wonderful feature! This laptop has been nothing but wonderful since I've purchased it, and I'm actually embarassed to admit that I considered this laptop to be "cheap". I'd never say that this laptop was "great for the money," because this laptop is great, period. If I absolutely HAD to complain about something, I'd complain that this laptop seems to attract fingerprints easily, which a few people have mentioned. It can get a little annoying, but you are given a cloth along with your user manuals and the like to gently rub the fingerprints away. I really don't mind wiping my computer off after each use, it makes it look and seem new that way, anyway. Another thing is that when I tried the web cam, I was very disappointed with the bad quality... until I opened the Properties menu and tweaked the settings, now the web cam looks very crisp and clear and high quality! This is the smartest purchase I have made in a long time and am very happy that I actually went against the bad reviews. If you ask me, having to wipe off a few fingerprints with an included cloth is a small price to pay for such a great laptop at a GREAT value.

This laptop is nice. Got it for what I would think is a bargain price. The screen is sharp and bright. It has lit-up icons all over the place but you can turn them off in the BIOS and save some battery. It has all the usual peripherals and the four USB connectors are conveniently located at both sides (2 each). The keyboard feels flimsy overall. After using it for a while you get used to it, but it definitely feels weird. Mouse pointer and surface are solid and buttons are sturdy. Not really a music fan, but I has Harman/Kardon speakers so it should not be too bad. I am an IT guy, and this laptop is definitely good if you can overlook the keyboard feel, which is the main reason I gave it four stars. I decided on this laptop against others at similar prices because of the dedicated 128Mb graphics ram and the fact that the video card is a bit of an upgraded version, but don't expect gaming quality. It would've been nice to have HDMI output.

This computer is the best laptop value that I have been able to find. Great looking computer with awesome speakers for impressive sound. I purchased this computer because of its great touchpad. It doesn't stick when the air gets humid like a lot of touchpads. The touchpad does get a little warm though. This laptop looks very sharp but does fingerprint very easily on the keyboard and top cover because of its glossy finish. For this reason I wish it had a satin finish. This is a great computer that I would recommend to all my friends.

My last laptop was a gateway..which lasted me two years before it had major battery problems. Also it was heavy, slow, and the screen was coming apart. So far this computer has shocked me..the style is nice, I love the keyboard and i like taking video, pictures and sound clips using the webcam which has a speaker as well. There is also a sound control pad that reacts by just touching it! for example you can mute your speakers. The speakers so far haven't impressed me..the sound seems to cut in and out a little and volume control is kind of weird cause you can't really tell how loud your making it or lowering it. Also in my cons i put battery life confusion..by this I mean that my computer is telling me that i have 24 hours and 30 min of battery life...uhm that i find impossible..considering other users here have said max battery life being a little over 2 hours..also it loses an hour of his battery life every couple minutes..like now its down to 16hrs? idk why its doing that so i just go by the percentage..which is now 41%. But besides battery issues (which is what almost all laptops seem to have) the computer is great! Probably the best priced one out there for this much memory and hard drive.

I got this laptop 2 weeks ago... and I loooove it! Its really fast. I got it optimized by Geek Squad and that made it that much better, because it comes with alooooot of useless stuff. The keys are nicely spread out so typing is easy. You can't hear the processor or fan. The speakers are out of this world. The screen is beautiful. The built-in webcam is awesome. The 4 USB ports are useful. Etc etc... the list goes on. Some "bad" stuff is that there is no backlighting on the keyboard, making it difficult to use in the dark. Also, because of the fusion finish, the laptop tends to get extremely dirty, I thought this wasn't going to bother me, but it doooes. And, the only part of the laptop that gets somewhat hot is by the Touchpad.

Purchased this laptop for $599 (what a deal) August 08. Did a lot of research and read the reviews, very helpful. Wanted something of good quality, lots of memory and fast. I believe Toshiba has captured all these features. The laptop was out of stock but I received it in about 10 days took it to Best Buy and had the Geek Squad remove a lot of the trial software and it's running great. I even had to download a file so I could connect to work. At first I got a message from the operating systems that there was a known compatibility issue with the software but I proceeded to install and it worked anyway! I don't understand why people don't like Window's Vista, first time I've used it and I think it's great. I did get the warranty (I hear laptops can be expensive to repair) but not the accident insurance as I'm the only one using this and I'm careful and don't travel with the laptop. I like the mobility of being able to use the laptop anywhere I want and no longer feel like I'm at work in front of a desk. Thank you Toshiba and Best Buy for the great deal.

This new laptop is so awesome and very user-friendly! The first time I used it ( immediately after I bought it) was like using a familiar gadget because its features are so impressive yet easy to navigate with. Much more, the built in web cam, microphone and its software support makes it convenient for me to keep in touch with my relatives and friends scattered all over the globe. Mom bought it purposely for my 21st birthday and to anticipate my going back to school by fall semester which will surely demand for the constant use of this unit for my researches in school. I am so thankful to have this laptop. Indeed Mom! Knows What is Best!!!
