Perfect for Christmas Light Timing
|Posted .Owned for 1 week when reviewed.Features
Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5Easy set-up and seems like quality construction. We’re a week into using this for outdoor Christmas lights. The timer was easy to set up and no problems whatsoever. I will say, it seems there are a ton of options for scheduling, etc. with the app so I probably need to take more time learning what this is capable of.

Awesome Smart Plug
|Posted .Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.Features
Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5Pros mentioned:App, Ease of use, For lightsCons mentioned:Apple homekitPerfect smart plug for outdoor lights. I’m currently using this plug to control my outdoor LED Edison lights I have strung along my fence. I live in a cold/rainy climate and this plug is heavy duty enough to withstand the elements. I did have to purchase a separate outlet housing cover that I can lock, because I’m worried about the Kasa plug getting stolen. The whole WiFi set up took less than 5 minutes, the app has all the features I was looking for and has performed flawlessly. This plug is priced well below it’s worth, as it provides two plugins per outlet used. This is my first type of smart home device purchase and it exceeds my expectations. After I made my purchase and learned different ways I can transform my home with these simple smart devices, I do wish that it was compatible with Apple HomeKit, but there is a third party app that assisted me in connecting my Kasa plug with Siri. So now I can use Siri on my iWatch, iPhone, & iPad to voice activate the on/off features, so crisis avoided. I hope to make future Kasa purchases, I would recommend to anyone.

Very handy
|Posted .Owned for 1 week when reviewed.Features
Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5I have a couple of these that I use for various outdoor needs. Christmas lights, cafe style string lights, a heater for my aviary. They are all connected with Alexa, so I can conveniently switch these things on or off with my voice, in addition to setting up schedules to do this automatically. This is especially helpful with Christmas lights, because I used to use mechanical timers that were only good for a few seasons, and need the time reset after power outages. Now all that is handled from my smartphone! I am using each of the two outlets for different functions, each with their own schedule and Alexa name, very handy and for less cost that buying two of the single outdoor smartplugs. I especially like TP-Link smart plugs and switches. No hubs (unlike some other smart plugs), good app, standard WiFi instead of lesser used wireless protocols, and reliable.

Didn’t know my house would be smart outside too!
|Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed.Features
Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5Pros mentioned:Amazon alexa, App, Ease of useCons mentioned:PriceI have Alexa, Siri, Nest, Hue, and August inside my home. I wanted to get colored lights for outside like I have inside, but hue cost wayyyy too much for that in a house I won’t be in forever. Instead I found lights that change via remote, but thanks to this plug I am able to turn off and on the lights via Alexa! Since it’s a 2 plug, I also can turn on and off my water fountain. I set it up as “fountain” and “string lights” and created the room “patio” for the set. So saying something as easy as, “Alexa, turn on patio” sets the entire mood outside. My boyfriend loves showing people that my backyard is controlled by Alexa. I would definitely recommend. The Kasa app works well too, I just don’t have any other compatible devices and it’s just one more app to go through. Using Alexa is much easier, and when away from home I can just use the Alexa app to control everything.

Remote fun
|Posted .Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.Features
Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5Just awesome! Easy setup and each plug can be controlled separately, which is super handy. We bought two of them for Christmas decorations and now we have them scheduled to start and stop at different times. We can easily shut down the large inflatable decorations when it’s windy and the projectors that shine into bedroom windows when it’s time for bed. The fact that it works with Alexa allows you to stay warm and dry when you want to turn them on/off outside of your planned schedule. The temperatures haven’t been below zero yet, so I’m not sure if cold will cause issues, but I’m impressed. The only thing that I felt could use some work was the rubber plug protector that it came with. As I’m writing this, I’m trying to remember where they are, because they aren’t attached to the plug. Not a deal breaker for me at all, but may be something to consider if you don’t have some shelter for the plug location.

Smart Home upgrades
|Posted .Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.Features
Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5It works as expected. My outdoor plug is on the opposite side of the house from my front and back doors. I had a plug that came with a remote that I’d click for my holiday decorations to turn off and on but the range wasn’t great and I had to constantly go to the side of the house to get in the range. I was slightly worried about a similar problem because my WiFi router is on the opposite side of the house but it has been no issue. The whole Alexa smart home system is so convenient. Forgot to turn off the lights and already in bed? I don’t even have to open my eyes! Want to turn on the decorations for the evening but not home yet? Easy peasy. The two plugs can be labeled and controlled separately and/or together and with other “groups” of smart devices. Great upgrade!

TP-Link Kasa Smart devices simply work
|Posted .Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.Features
Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5I had purchased many Smart home devices. Only going through the pain of multiple brands did I finally settle on the TP-Link KASA. It works just as the app instruction shows. Before I purchased my first TP-Link KASA, I tried other brands that didn't work. I was instructed that the problem was my wireless routers (which they weren't). I even purchased new wireless routers to prove the point. Their apps didn't work. For the TP-Link KASA Smart Wi-Fi Outdoor plug, it was another easy install. App recognizes the new device. App connects new device to your wireless. App control finds firmware update and applies. App controls the device with an intuitive interface. Simple, and doesn't waste my time like the "others" did.

The best smart outdoor plug available
|Posted .Owned for 1 year when reviewed.Features
Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5I own numerous TP-Link Kasa smart plugs, smart power strips, smart lighbulbs and cameras, so this integrated nicely with my current setup. I've almost never had a problem with any of my Kasa devices. The Kasa app is great. Everything can be controlled in one place, and it integrates seamlessly with the Google Assistant for voice commands and Google Home app. This is one of the few name-brand outdoor plugs available. I've been using it outdoors for for over a year, and I've never had a problem. I use it to control my outdoor floodlights and holiday decorations. Each receptacle (there are two) can be independently named and controlled. Schedules can be set, including on/off based on variable sunrise/sunset times.

Q: Questionwhat is the maximum distance from the router, that this plug will work?
Asked by shelly.
- A:Answer My plug is by garage door and where the router is about 50 feet. It also depends of your Router signal as well. If you decided to purchase this plug, set it up near by your Router first and then move it to where ever you like to use within the strength of your Router signal. I hope this help.

Q: QuestionCan you use this for an above ground pool
Asked by Mike.
- A:Answer I bought it to use with our filter pump for our above ground pool too, but it doesn’t work like I wanted it to. Was hoping to be able to switch it on/off on demand, but once it switches off by timer or manually from the Kasa app, the GFCI built into the pump’s plug trips. In order for it to turn back on, the plug needs to be reset by hand - which defeats the whole purpose of the smart plug. I decided to keep mine for Christmas lights or other uses because it’s still a neat device.
