TP-Link Wi-Fi Smart Plug HS100 The Smart Plug works with your existing wireless network. Setup is pretty easy once you have installed the free Kasa app, which is how you will turn your smart plug, and anything plugged in to them, on and off. And yes, you will be able to control your smart plug from anywhere in the world with your smartphone, as long as you have internet access. And for those of you wanting to take the cool factor up a notch, by controlling the smart plug with voice commands, you can set it up with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant. If you are wanting to have multiple devices come on at once, like maybe a lamp and radio, or TV, whatever, plug a power strip into the smart plug, then plug those devices into the power strip. When you turn the smart plug on, those devices that are plugged into the power strip will come on too. I only bring this up for those who may have a hard time understanding just how a smart plug works, and what you can do with one. Not everyone is tech-savvy. Just trying to give them a basic idea of what can be done with one. You could also purchase additional smart plugs and have them all set to come on at different times of the night- turning on lights throughout your home or business, which gives the appearance that someone is there. Certainly won’t stop an intruder from breaking inside if he or she is determined to do so, but it may just give them a reason to stop and think about it. Just keep in mind, some devices may not work with a smart plug; meaning you will need to actually press the power button on them to turn them on/off. I know some TVs are like this. Smart plugs are pretty cool devices, and can be extremely useful around your home or business. If you need further info on this smart plug, and needing ideas on how to use it, search Youtube with the text below. TP-Link Wi-Fi Smart Plug HS100 Happy new year, and enjoy your smart plug! I was given this HS100 - N150 Wireless Smart Plug as part of a free sample program. Yet, it is one of the coolest items I have placed into my house! A large statement, I know, but it has added a lifestyle ease that is simple to justify. Bottom line is my wife loves it and uses it. As a tech power user, I’m constantly trying out new items in my house. But, what made this a success for my wife is her ability to talk to our lights. I use that as a way to hook up our table lamp to our home network through the Smart Plug. And tp-link has made it simple and compatible to Google Home and Mini (which I personally use) and also Amazon Echo products. Thus, my wife comes into the living room to sit down on the couch and instead of reaching down to flip the switch connected to the lamp cord, she simply says “lamp on” and BAMM! It turns on! Ok, how about ease of use? I plugged this into the socket and held the connect button and again BAMM! It automatically linked into my home WiFi network. I then connected it into tp-link’s mobile app Kasa which identified it and gave it access into my Google home devices. This may have been the quickest and simplest install I have ever experienced. Bottom line as noted above, if you want to please your wife, get this product. I’m going to get several more! I may be a reviewer of products, but this one really solves problems and is not just a nice to have.

This was recommended by the tech wiz to use with my amazon echo+ & echo dot... it has the worst connectivity problems! TP-Link customer support walked me through the simple instructions I had already completed several times then suggested I call Amazon support. Amazon walked me through the same steps several more times, had me delete & re-install both apps... we walked through the same set up again & still a failure... but after deleting Alexa app as instructed I had to then re-install all my smart products already installed . Then Amazon told me to call back TP-Link support again. Yeah still did not work with Amazon Echo + Product is bulky & covered most of outlet making 2nd outlet unusable & is unsightly. There are much better products sold in bulk from amazon that will enable two smart outlets & blend seamlessly with Amazon Echo products! My rating is negative 1star!

      Hi HBonNB,

Thank you for sharing your experience with our smart plug. In your case we first recommend ensuring your smart plug's firmware is fully up to date using the steps outlined here: http://www.tp-link.com/us/faq-1256.html

We also recommend using the Smart Plug in the upper outlet, which should leave enough room for a small or standard plug to be used in the lower outlet in some cases. However, if space is tight, our HS105 Smart Plug Mini might be a better option.

Our Support Team is always happy to listen, and answer any questions you might have about our products. Please feel free to e-mail Kasa.Support@TP-Link.com and we'll gladly have a Support Agent follow up with you directly.

      Best Regards,

    I Love This Plug!

HS100 Smart Plug I am so heavily in the TP-Link and Alexa universes that I can never have enough TP-Link smart devices. This Wi-Fi smart plug is now also compatible with Google Assistant. You can group a series of these plugs via the Kasa app (for iOS and Android) and Alexa. (I can’t comment on Google Assistant because I don’t use that.) I love that I can use this smart plug as a timer, setting up individual on/off for each day of the week, or use it to power on devices remotely or via Alexa voice control. The “away” mode turns the power to the plug on and off at random times within a prescribed time period so that it appears that someone is home. All this is configured through the Kasa app. Alexa just gives you voice control to the on/off feature of the plug. Set-up is easy, and it requires a smart phone with the downloaded Kasa app. Submitted as part of a free sample program.

If you want to control a pluggable device via Alexa, look no further. The HS100 is what you need. It is directly integrated with Alexa and can be configured to work locally or remotely if you want to operate devices while away. The setup process could not be easier. The TP-Link Kasa application is used to control all of TP-Link's smart home devices. It walks you through the setup process. Kasa will also allow you to configure a schedule for when to turn your connected devices on/off. Additionally, there is an away mode which turns your devices on and off at different times to give the appearance that someone is home. Comparing this to Wemo, it has been more stable. I've not had any connection issues with this whereas I have had a couple with Wemo, especially when the device had been unplugged from the wall. This review was submitted as part of a free sample program.

I’ve been using a couple of TP-links Wi-Fi plugs including this one for the last few months. I love how well they work with Alexa and how easy the app is to you. I love it so much I just ordered another Wi-Fi set, smart light bulbs and one of their powerline kits so I don’t have to pay money for slow internet when I move into my new home in the countryside on June 1st. The voice commend on Alexa is great. You simply turn the bedroom lights on and they turn on. You do need to have an option for each device turned on to use it with Alexa. This option is called “remote connected” and you’ll find it in the Kasa app. You also get scheduling capability which is really useful. I’ve already saved money on my recent electric bills.

I held off on getting a smart outlet for awhile. How hard is it for someone to get off the couch and turn on a light? Well, I'm not ashamed to say Alexa had me spoiled before, but now I'm hopeless. It is so nice to be able to control a light in the other room. Set up thru the Kasa app was a bit difficult at first. I ended up having to delete the plug on my account, then finish setting up the cloud before adding it. Once I had a full verified account, integrating the app with Alexa was a breeze. I managed to use the top outlet so the bottom was free. I also got creative and plugged an extension cord so I could control 2 table lamps with the one plug. I will be buying more for additional outlets.

I bought this item to go with my Alexa Echo Dot. Pairing is very simple and straight forward. Once paired I can either tell Alexa to turn on or off a lamp, patio lights or front porch lights with a simple command. When I am out of town, these lights can be scheduled to turn on or off while no one is at home (Schedule times). It gives the impression that you are home. Also, I can turn on or turn off the lights through my cell phone from just about anywhere you travel with the Kasa App which is linked to these smart plugs. I would highly recommend this product.
