Hybrid
Posted .This was a purchase for husband who wanted a flip but needed more. This is an odd bird. It is also very big! It takes a little for those used to regular touch screen to get used to using both the touch screen and buttons on the pad but for those not used to a regular smartphone it should be easier. The only con so far is the low memory but most who want this type of phone are not the kind for apps usually anyway. There is an sd slot which helps. If you like the flip style and ability to dial from a traditional phone pad but need an android device for some things this is great choice.

OK for basic smart phone
||Posted .I bought this phone for my mother who can't use a standard smart phone. THE BAD: It is heavier than my moto x and far heavier than a basic flip phone. When using the phone function, there is no unique dtmf tone for each number pressed. When displaying pictures or video the screen cuts off part of the picture compared to a standard smart phone. My mother keeps turning off the ringer because she grabs the phone on the left side right where the volume controls are. When opening the flip, it is too easy to touch the screen changing the home screen to a different screen. THE GOOD. The keypad is easy to use to dial a number for those persons who can't use the touch screen. There is one customizable key which can go direct to the dial function. The speed dial keys work directly from the home screen, so no need to bring up the dialer.

Android In A Flip Phone
||Posted .I purchased the ZTE Cymbal T as a replacement for my old LG420G flip phone and I am very happy with it ! It runs Android Lollipop and has a touchscreen and although the screen is 3.5 inches, I can type on it fine... I also have email in addition to texting and phone calling. It gives triple minutes of calling minutes and texts (a 200 minute card will provide 600 minutes and 600 texts and 600 MB of data) if you buy the standard time card and not the smartphone card which won't give you the triple minutes... The screen doesn't auto rotate and there's no option for it in the settings... It's a comfortable phone to hold and the keys are large and you can text with them, but I find the on screen keyboard far easier to use... All in all, I love it !

Sampling smart technology
||Posted .It is a good cross-over for those not ready for a typical smart phone. It does chew up data when not on WiFi. And it will randomly open apps when closed in your pocket. The small screen is not easy to read without glasses. I only got it to have access to my e-mail, and a texting format that is easier to enter than the keypad and can show a 'conversation'. The camera is not the best quality, but not the intended use. REALLY not a fan of the Google and browser tracking, so I shut off & delete "Big Brother" whenever I can.

Great flip android fusion phone
||Posted .Bought for hub who did not want to let go of his flip phone. He is not a huge user but needs it to text and make calls when needed. He likes to keep in pocket when at work and flip open to make calls. Is learning how to use apps now as it is a full functioning android 4G phone. . My son, who is 15, thinks it is the coolest phone as well as it is the best of both worlds. The screen is a 3.5" so a little small for today's likes.. but when you open to make a call, it is a fabulous sized phone!! All in all I give it the full 5 stars now for its functionality and looks and use capabilities. It is a sturdy phone if you ever drop it by accident as the screen is protected. . He has been using for 2 weeks now so we will see how well it does. Price was right and it is a pay as you go phone so the service is super cheap as well!! A win-win for us and it serves us perfectly. Price was amazing too.

Its a nice phone, but short on space.
||Posted .It's a decent android smartphone that has a flip pone design. Its a durable phone as I've dropped it a few times with now damage to it or the screen. The biggest issue is its short on space at only 8gb, and half of that is used by the system itself, you're left with 4gb for apps. And since you can only use that space for apps it really limits what you can do. A small saving grace is you can move part of some apps to the expandable memory but half or more of that will still be on that original 4gb. I have a 32gb expansion card and with three coupon apps, Ibotta, Savingstar, & Checkout 51, The customery google apps, my prefered search Bing, Uber & Lyft, a news app, a weather app, a step tracking app, and two store apps, and a restaurant app all with half stored on the card I've run out of space and can't update them any more. So be warned if you're app heavy. Also a small issue I've had is when you close the phone it might reboot its not a big problem you just have to reopen it to fully reboot other wise it will turn off instead. Worth it if you are looking for a simple smart phone that works and can run apps, just not a lot though.

Great phone for older people
||Posted .My husband didn't like the touch smart phone I bought him last year. He had a hard time making and receiving calls. I bought this one since it was a flip phone and has a keypad. He has no problem using it.

just what I was looking for
||Posted .Phone works great, being a flip phone is the best part. Camera works good but it could use a flash for indoor shots. Nice to have information screen on the outside. 32 gig card holds tones of music and photos.

Q: QuestionExternal screen only showing a small triangle upper center. How do I get the time and date to show?
Asked by Scott.
- A:Answer It seems to be indicating an urgent alert. Try deleting any alerts in the Messaging app. I deleted an Amber alert and the display returned to normal.

Q: QuestionWill this phone receive an Android software update in the near future or will it be stuck on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop?
Asked by Cortese.
- A:Answer I don't know since neither Android nor ZTE has said anything... I also have the ZTE ZMAX PRO and did receive an update to its Android 6.0.1 OS ... The fact that the Cymbal T is a flip phone should not matter... As for me, the upgrade is not that important... I have an old LG420G phone with a proprietary OS and it served me faithfully for 5 years before Tracfone shut down its 2g network on 01/31/17... Seeing a flip phone with Android intrigued me and I bought it... The Cymbal T is my "going out" phone since I can put it in my pocket and nobody sees that I have a smartphone and thus become a target... I'm am looking to getting at least as much service from the Cymbal T, if not more... Since I'm going to be 64 this year, I don't need the phone to be anything more than a phone, texting, and e-mail phone... I'm not into watching movies, videos, streaming music, or gaming...

Q: QuestionWill this phone support Facebook Messenger? Thx.
Asked by tigers.
- A:Answer I think that it does, but I don't use Facebook messenger on it because Tracfone doesn't have an unlimited data plan, although you could "load up" the phone with minutes, texts, and data...
