      Audio/Visual Treat - with excellent 3D

First off, this movie gets a 10/10 in the WOW department, for audio and visuals. Flawless video, sound, and 3D. Don't listen to people complain about the lack of 3D. Yes the beginning and end are 2D.. but do people complain that the beginning and end of the Wizard of Oz wasn't all in color? No. The 3D portion sucks the viewer into the grid, as the main character was in the film. That moment when he enters the computer, that extra dimension pops out at you! That is movie magic (lame phrase whatever)! I think people are too harsh on the film. It takes a few viewings (and maybe some internet research) to really understand all the workings of the plot. It does have a shiny exterior that will please most fans; but also has a really intelligent core that might pass over some peoples' heads. There aren't many extras, something which I am willing to forgive; but would have truly enjoyed. The pacing isn't the best, and that's just a small gripe considering the spectacular action sequences scattered about. Here's what I want to say now that I'm on my soapbox: when you watch 3D movies, you aren't going to see a soccer ball fly into your face (as the 3D demos at Best Buy would have you believe). Sure it was fun in My Bloody Valentine and Piranha 3D, but they were gimmicks. In Tron: Legacy (or many other films), there's no point to have something "fly" into your face. It's the sense of depth that really adds something to the moviegoing experience. And I think that's lost on most 3D movie-goers today. This is coming from a cinephile and home theater aficionado. If you want to believe the 1-star reviews from the n00bs, you're going to be missing out on a stupendous 3d experience!

Blu Ray is the current benchmark for image quality, but when the image was taken with a film camera and or focused by a human the limiting factory isn't the medium, its the person. Well it's very safe to say that a high percentage of what on the screen at any given time inTRON is CGI, therefor being pure digital form creation to presentation the result is basically perfect. Combine that with Disney using the latest state of the are digital cameras mic's etc.. TRON on BLU-RAY is an ABSOLUTE STUNNER!! 95% chance your TV will be the limiting factor on how this looks. This movie will really highlight what it means to have a tv with truly impressive "grayscale" performance and "deep blacks". The better your TV the better this will look.. Same goes for the sound so much of it was digital in creation that the better your system the better it will sound. TRON is impressive, found my self watching scenes over and over again just because of how REAL they looked.. If you liked the movie, its absolutely with picking up on BLU-RAY. Attached files were taken with an iPhone 7 while the movie played ( did not use pause) on a 4K Sony. What blur you see is my fault and not the disc.

I would HIGHLY recommend if you are a Blu-Ray movie collector with only the BEST movies, best stories, or just a fan of the old TRON and want to see an updated film. I like Sci-Fi and FUTURE stories and this one is based on TECHNO, inside the mainframe type stuff. I loved it because it's not your typical overdone story and had relation to the old TRON movie. There is alot of cool especially affects having made the main character (Jeff Daniels) look YOUNG again as well as the EPIC graphics and music. The music makes this fil worth owning because the ultra lounge type music as well as Daft Punk and the fight scenes and light cycles are great! This is a great film if you want to collect and ADD to your 3D collection. If you are looking for academy award type plot and acting, story line, this may not be for you, but if you enjoy trance and techno music, futuristic and just EYE CANDY like Avatar, and enjoy 3D, this is a GREAT film to pop out to entertain guests and have a "escape the moment" TYPE movie night, especially in 3D with a great surround sound, sub-woofer and dim lights and great HDTV. I am happy to have bought this during Black Friday for less than $20. :)

      Gets better every time

The first time I watched this, I rented the Blu-Ray (2D) and was not very impressed. It was fun because it was TRON, but I felt the acting and writing wasn't that great. It was okay, and felt like what TRON was supposed to be, but I felt a little let down. However, I decided to spring for the 3D copy when I got my new setup, and I'm very glad I did. The writing and acting seemed to really grow on me the second time around, and the difference the 3D made elevated this movie from "all right" to "very good". I'd also like to counter all of those complaints about the 3D aspect. Everything before and after "The Grid" was shot in 2D on purpose (and they even say so before the opening credits). The entire "Grid" section is shot in 3D and is done very well. You can see the difference immediately when it shifts. Just because you don't feel like something isn't flying out of the screen constantly and hitting you in the face doesn't mean it's not shot in 3D, and not shot in 3D very well.

When I first saw Tron Legacy in the theater, I wasn't all that impressed by the movie as a whole, even though the visual presentation was really nice. After renting it again to give it another shot, I liked it a little more the second time. As somewhat of an impulse buy, I picked up the blu-ray after purchasing a new TV, since I figured the visuals would be a good test for the TV's performance. Third time's a charm, I guess, as by then the movie seemed to have grown on me a bit. While I still find the story only average, it does its job for a sequel, and I was able to look past my initial impression and pay more attention to its more redeeming qualities, such as the father/son dynamics, and the meaning behind the finale scene, despite its odd execution. Visually, I can't deny it really is beautifully done, a work of art at times, living up to the original Tron's unique style, while boosting it with a major upgrade to today's VFX standards. Very sleek.

      forget the 3D

I have watched a lot of 3d movies, and played several 3d games on my setup, and Tron was very disappointing in 3D. Half the time it didn't look 3D and when it did it was more distracting than anything with out of focus backgrounds and images that did not pop in 3d. For a movie that has a ton of CGI they could have done way better. Resident Evil Afterlife was awesome in 3D so I expected Tron 3D to be even better and wasn't even close. By the end of Tron I didn't even consider it a 3d movie and if I watch it agin it will be in 2d. Movie was ok, some will like it some won't. Felt they had a huge world to use with the Tron universe and they didn't take full advantage of everything they could do. Should have been epic and it was just ok.

Loved the first Tron which was quite groundbreaking back in its day, so I had very high expectations for the sequel. The overall look of the Tron Game Universe is incredible. The effects are dazzling, however the story tends to be a bit bland. The CGI Jeff Bridges made sense in the Tron Universe but I'm not quite sure why the director Joseph Kosinski chose to do the same in the "real world" flashbacks. It just looked to cheesey and cartoonish. Hopefully, this idea could be rectified if there ever is a Tron 3 by having it explained that Flynn's clone managed to cross-over in the past? I don't know. Oh last thing...the Daft Punk soundtrack was amazing. Reminded me of Blade Runner's Vangelis.

Tron Legacy was an roller coaster ride full of thrills that you never want to get off again. From beginning to the end this movie was just extremely mind blowing. I saw it in IMAX 3D 5 story movie screen that just changed your perception of watching movies. Even though it was PG this movie was a dark film, which made it gnarly and wicked. This will be one of my top Blu Ray movies that I can watch over and over. CGI was great and the best part was Daft Punk worked on the whole entire soundtrack. Do yourself a favor and go BUY this movie!!!!
