Great for Crossfit and more consistent HR

      Posted

I bought the Actionsleeve directly from the company as soon as it was released. The biggest frustration I had with the Apple Watch was that I couldn't wear it when the movements of the workout affect my wrist. Any type of push-up, ring dip, overhead squats, jerks, etc were all no Watch days. When I could wear my watch, the HR rates were inconsistent as the watch would lose direct contact with my skin depending on the movement. I would have a HR of 155 one minutes, then the next would be 77. It was a bit frustrating as I am learning how HR levels during workouts promote different aspects of conditioning. It also is rewarding to see the HR higher when you know you were pushing it or that it was steady for some of the endurance things. The action sleeve solved all my frustrations with the Apple Watch. I've worn it about 5 times now and it has kept consistent HR readings. It has never gotten in the way of a workout. The closest thing to being in the way was ring dips. Usually the bicep needs to touch the ring and I couldn't feel the touch on the side the actionsleeve was on. Still - it did not limit my range of motion at all. Overall, I would recommend this to anyone who is having the same frustrations I was having. It is a worthwhile investment and I believe the price is great for the results I've seen in using the product.

I've been a huge TwelveSouth fan ever since I discovered their products. Their products are exclusive to Apple and they have some killer designs (bookbook for example). However I have never bought any of their products... just love them though (but I've always wanted bookbook for iPhone) This armband is the first product they have that I *need* as I've started cross training and Olympic lifting for about a year now. Not only does this free up my wrist to allow me to wear wrist wraps for weight lifting... I have been getting more accurate readings during my "WODs". I use to range anywhere from 300-550 total Cals and average BPM around 100. Now total cals range from 450-700 and BPM around 120-135 Only one con though, which I hinted in the title.. quality. See attached image, did not expect the part you grab to undo the strap to come apart in less than 1 weeks worth of use. It doesn't not work as a result but I thought... prolly luck of the drawl, if it wasn't for bad luck I wouldn't have any kinda thing. Well I bought one for my wife and almost same exact thing happen to hers as well I'm not gonna put up a fuss but I am a little disappointed in it happening... I've still been using it regardless. And id still recommend it.

This product is well worth the price. I received mine the other day and it works great. I do a lot of high intensity weight lifting and boxing and the wrist bands didn't get a good reading on my workouts. My hbms would come out lower than my normal rate and it was getting frustrating. As soon as I saw this product come available I figured what the heck. The price point was solid and I figured it can't be any worse than the regular wrist band. Turns out it's been great. Much more accurate reads and it's comfy to wear. Slide right on and strap it to your comfort level. The screen is easily accessible and the protective casing keeps it safe and secure. I definitely recommend this for anyone who has been having issues with the wrist straps during workouts. You won't be disappointed. Great for weightlifting and boxing for sure.

Twelve South - Actionsleeve Armband For Apple Watch ® 42mm - Black vs genuine and aftermarket (Nike) Apple Watch bands. PROs: The Actionsleeve is far better for working out as far as accuracy of HeartRate (HR) monitoring and safety for the Watch. (primarily running/elliptical and weight /machines in my experience). Push-ups with standard band are uncomfortable and HR monitoring is very inaccurate - much better with sleeve. Holds the watch securely. Easy to rinse off after exercise and dries out quickly. CONs: Somewhat difficult to get watch in/out of holder (but very secure once in place - not a significant con) Band gets warm when exercising (so does the standard watch band) May be difficult to read watch when on upper arm for some (close focus)

Purchased this so I could track my stats while kickboxing. The first one purchased began falling apart after only a couple of kickboxing sessions. The band started peeling apart. Purchased a second one and noticed when I opened the box it was already peeling apart. Limited options available in order to track my stats when kickboxing. Purchased one of these for both our daughter and son-in-law and they too had the same problem. Give them some time to enhance or improve the product before trying another one.

I purchased the Apple Watch mostly because I noticed that none of the fitness trackers I owned and eventually got rid of did not provide the functionality I was looking for. With the various fitness apps that the Apple Watch supported I could achieve this, so when I bought my Apple Watch I also purchased the ActionSleeve armband. The armband has never come loose, supports the Apple Watch perfectly in a spot I can still access it, and is easy to swap the Apple Watch in and out of as needed. Excellent design and easy to use.

Being the only option I could find to move my Apple Watch from my wrist to another part of my arm I thought I would give this a try. I was constantly hitting my watch on my wrist during work outs with a total gym, the twelve south eliminated that problem moving the watch to the bicep. But there's some flaws, first the metal buckle is too wide and skin gets pinched, second the material used for the band does not stretch with the muscle, third the case is extremely rigid and makes it difficult to get he watch in and out.

It is a good band. Fits the watch head just fine. I have used it a couple of times between my other watch band depending on what workout I am doing. Sometimes when it is in my wrist, the hr monitor doesn't register. I haven't had any issues of it reading it while on my bicep but you have to keep the senor more on the inside of the muscle to hit the brachial artery. other than that it serves its purpose.
