My buddy and I were literally throwing it to one another sitting out in the water and it floats with ease. The orange grip makes the pole visible at all times. Even with the pole extended it still floats! I got great footage using this surfing. The float doesn't get in the way or stand out in the video either so there is no tradeoff. I take it out to the lake and use it wakesurfing. Its nice to have a pole I don't have to worry about dropping! For any type of water sports/ activities this is a must have if you don't want to lose your GoPro.
