Does precisely what it's supposed to do.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. To get it out of the way, I always deduct something from a product that has disposable anything. Adhesives fall into that category, so right off the bat the Upright GO will never be a 5-star product as long as they rely on such a method of application. You have to keep buying them and they aren't relatively cheap, the cost of which adds up over time. The Upright GO works great, just not a fan of disposable nonsense. As I said, due to the fact I refuse to buy refills for such a thing I have yet to use a single adhesive that came with this and instead made a small holder for the device and allows it to be pressed directly up against the skin. The Upright GO is used by my wife and the holder is something that slides into her sports bras, works perfectly and she has had zero complaints about it being annoying or bothersome. With all that out of the way, this thing works great. Setup takes only a couple minutes and the app is very straightforward, easy to navigate, understand, and helpful all at the same time. After the initial info gets squared away you have to set your initial posture then can go into training or tracking. Training holds you to a margin of error off your previously determined posture setting and will vibrate once you start to get towards the edges of that reading. Tracking still monitors your data, but won't do the vibration, it is more for you to collect data and see what your natural posture is and then compare it to data you collect later on. Example; I got this for my wife as and after getting it all squared away I suggested she use the tracking for a few days and get it to see what her habits are. Then she did training for a few days, followed by a few more days of just tracking. We were able to compare the data from the before and after and see just how much the training sessions helped. You don't have to do this, but I figured it would be interesting to do. While doing the training sessions you can adjust the duration, set goals, as well as do the previously mentioned monitoring of your posture. It's a very simple app, but also a very helpful and informative one. The Upright GO does precisely what it's supposed to do and for that I can easily recommend it to anyone that's looking to improve their day-to-day posture. If you sit at a desk all day, or even are on your feet but slouch, it's a small investment to help improve your health. Get creative with workarounds to avoid having to use the adhesives (all the while keep in mind you want the device to not be able to move around and be up against the back/skin as to not give false readings for the data sets) and you have a one-time purchase with no need to pricey proprietary adhesives.

Easily the best way to improve your posture
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this little device, and it is little. Even smaller than I thought once I received it and very lightweight. So if you're worried about sticking a device onto your upper back, don't. I noticed it there slightly when I first put it on, since it was something new, but after 5 minutes I could barely tell it was there. It didn't take long before I forgot it was even there. You do need to download the app to use this, but it's free and as far as apps go, simple and easy to use. When you first put the Upright Go on, you'll need to get into the correct posture and tap the button to calibrate it. This happens almost instantly and it's kind of neat seeing the figure on the app showing your live position. There are 2 modes you can use this in. First is the "Training" mode. In this mode the device will vibrate once it detects you've been slouching for about 5 seconds. The vibration is noticeable but not too strong. With the app you can actually choose different vibration styles as well. Combined with how small the device is, other people around you probably won't even know you're wearing something on your upper back. The app also provides you with daily goals that eases you into correcting your posture. First couple days you just need to hold the correct posture for 5 minutes, then it goes up to 10 minutes, then 2 sessions of 7 minutes, and so on. Of course you can go longer if you want. 5 minutes is over in no time. The second mode is "Tracking". In this mode it doesn't vibrate at all when you slouch, and this is when you really do forget it's even there. All it does is track your posture and let you see how good, or bad you're posture is throughout the day. I did find 2 negatives. First, this device really is best in an office type environment or when you're just sitting or standing. One day I needed to do some work outside, and after getting just slightly sweaty, it fell off. This was after only 3 days of use, so the adhesive was still fairly fresh. So if you want to work on your posture while on a treadmill, you might need to tape it on. Speaking of the adhesive, I've used the same one for over a week now and it's still sticking, but I can definitely tell it's starting to run its course. They say the adhesive is supposed to last at least 2 weeks, but that obviously depends on how long you wear it each day. In between uses, the small storage case this comes with protects it perfectly and has a plastic base for the adhesive side to sit on. Second negative, at least for me, is that since I'm on the tall side, 6'2", most sinks and counters are a bit short. So when washing my hands, doing the dishes, etc., I'm forced to slouch over, so when the Upright Go is in training mode, it can be annoying constantly going off, and can skew my results when in Tracking mode. Those negatives are pretty minor IMO and not enough to take a star away. Overall I love this device and would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to improve their posture. After only a few days of using this, I found myself trying to keep the correct posture even when I wasn't wearing and using the Upright Go at all, which is kind of the point. You want to use this to train yourself to have the correct posture, and eventually not depend on it at all.

Great idea - still requires some self-disclipine
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm one of those people who spends a lot of hours hunched over a computer, desk and generally scenarios that are not upright. Always been concious of what this might be doing to my posture, so being a bit of a new-technology kind of person, I was keen to see the GO Posture training and get some evidence (as opposed to the usual 'stand up straight' comments I sometimes get). First lets be clear - this isn't designed to be worn all the time like a fitness band. You can do , if you were so inclined - but the idea here is to train you on a regular basis through awareness and a gentle nudge now and then. The device itself is simple enough - plug it in , charge it up and install the app on your apple or google device (there is also an apple watch app, but I didnt try that). The principle is that you begin a training program with the app, wearing th device for short periods of time every day and every ther day. During these times the app shows you in real time how you are holding your posture for some simple enough goals (10 mins at a time etc). If you stray from a good posture position, it'll give you a little buzz to remind you to get back into shape. My only critique here is the fixing options - you can either use a supplied necklace to hang it around your neck, or alterantively the sticky-pads where it adheres directly to your skin. The pads are designed to be used a couple of times and then replaced, but depending on how much you sweat / how often you wear it - I'm still waiting to see how long the pads last. The necklace is the probably the best, dependable option as long as you dont mind it getting tangled in any other jewelery you wear. Again though - back to the main point. You're not supposed to wear this all the time, so any fixing-method inconvenience is only short term. You can move the GO training into 'tracking' mode (instead of 'training') , at which point you might find you need to devise a more long term wearable approach. The tracker and the app themselves are what this review is primarily about and its as good as you would expect - easy enough to use, and informative enough to tell me that I need to practice. A lot. I recieved this unit at no charge as part of an evaluation program, but the comments and observations detailed here are all my own.

Almost Perfect
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was originally interested in the Upright Go because I sit most of the day and need to lean over often. People in my line of work are at a high risk for musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) caused by poor posture. In an attempt to prevent these types of issues, I got the Upright Go because it looked like a promising product. So far it has done what it is supposed to do. I'll start with the physical product. In the box, you will find the tracker itself, a charging cable (micro USB), a case, adhesive removing device (looks like a guitar pick), alcohol prep pads, and extra silicone adhesives. The case that comes with this device is small and easily fits in a purse or backpack. The inside has plastic on one side for the trainer to stick to when not in use. The other side has a little mesh pouch which is the perfect size to carry the adhesive remover, an alcohol prep pad, and an extra adhesive. Using the trainer is very straightforward seeing as it has one status light on it and one button to turn it on and off and toggle between its two modes (training and tracking). The paper guide provides clear instructions for use. With my testing so far (about a week), the silicone adhesives give roughly 4 full days of use before needing to be changed out, though this is dependent on how long you're wearing the trainer each day and your skin type. What really makes this trainer so great is the app. The developers have done a truly incredible job. The app is clean, easy to navigate, and gives you all the important information you need regarding your training and tracking progress in a well laid out, easy to read format. You can see the battery life of the trainer in the app, daily stats on your slouching, order new adhesives, and adjust training reminders, notifications, and vibration settings to fit your preferences. In training mode, the app gives you very achievable daily goals to hit and will notify you once you've hit your goal. This mode causes the trainer to vibrate on your back when you are bending forward beyond the set limit. Once you've hit your daily training goal, you can switch to tracking. In tracking mode, the device in simply monitoring your movements silently and does not vibrate to remind you to sit up straight. The one issue I have with this product is what it considers to be slouching. There is some give in movement before the tracker counts your bending as slouching and that's good otherwise you'd have to sit up perfectly straight all day, which is completely unrealistic. However, let's say you're bending over to pick something up, find something on the ground, or plug something into the wall even. The tracker counts this as slouching because you've gone beyond the bending limit. I think it would be beneficial to create a range that is considered slouching instead of saying hey, over this angle, everything is considered slouching. This gripe is minimal and doesn't detract significantly from the overall experience of using this trainer. I simply think it makes some of the tracking data inaccurate by saying you're slouching more than you actually are. Overall, this is a really nice product and you can tell a significant amount of time went into its development. It is sleek and it does what it's supposed to do. Would definitely recommend to those who sit the majority of the day and want to prevent back problems early.

Good reminder to sit/stand up straight
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For work I sit in front of a computer a lot, and my posture isn’t perfect all the time, so I decided to give the Upright Go a try to see if it could help train me to have better posture over time. For the record, my posture actually wasn’t as bad as I initially thought, but I still think the device helped “train” me to be more aware of when and how often I was slouching. The device itself is small and lightweight, about the size of an adult thumb, and it adheres to your back with re-usable (up to a few days) but ultimately disposable gel sticky pads, like the ones used in TENS machines. The device works by sending you small vibrations via haptic feedback, like the vibrate feature on your phone when it detects that you’re slouching. If you don’t like the idea of have to buy stickers that you need to replace, there’s a necklace accessory sold separately that you can use with it instead. This upright “metric” in and of itself is dependent on how you setup the device and calibrate it. Each time you put on the device you need to calibrate it to “perfect posture.” That is, after you’ve put on the device, with your back in an upright and straight position you’ll have to double-click the button on the unit or tap ‘set posture’ to calibrate in the smartphone app which pairs with the device over Bluetooth. My phone paired with the Go quickly and setup took only a few minutes. The app lets you customize the device's features, upgrade its firmware, check its battery level, and tracks your posture in real time as well as captures historic data over time displayed in daily graphs. There are two primary modes with this device: training and tracking. In training mode, the device sets up a training program and schedule for you to practice you posture with the device during 5 to 10 minutes sessions over the course of several weeks. Each day, you wear the device for at least the allotted amount of time to train (you can skip days, it just picks up where you left off). In training mode the device will vibrate if you slouch. You can customize how the vibration feels using the app: Short, Medium, Long, Knock Knock or Ramp-Up. When not training, you can set the device to tracking mode which will record data on your posture (how much time you spend upright or slouching and when) to be uploaded to your app for you to view the data later. This allows you to monitor your posture throughout the day without having to deal with the vibrations if you happen to slouch for a moment, but you also don’t get the benefit of correcting your posture on the spot. The second mode is useful for tracking your progress over time to see if your habits have changed and that your posture remains improved when not receiving reminders from the device. You can also set the sensitivity (amount/angle of the slouch) and a timeout period of up to 30 seconds before you start getting the vibration feedback. When I first started using the Upright Go, I felt it was buzzing way too often for even the slightest movements. I wanted to have good posture but also feel comfortable sitting at my desk, so I relaxed the sensitivity a bit and gave myself a longer lead time before it started buzzing. The various “modes” like stationary, standard, and active let you customize three presets for different activity styles so you can switch between them easily. Most of the time the device is pretty accurate; when I bent or leaned forward for longer than a few seconds, it would buzz until I straightened up. However some activities would throw it off like going up a flight of stairs, sitting in lounge chair, and driving. This also made training mode pretty annoying for common tasks like washing the dishes or doing laundry, but you can switch between training/tracking modes by double-clicking the button on the unit while wearing it to switch on/off the vibrations. For me, usually I got about 12-14 hours of use from the device on a single charge. It’s pretty comfortable and after a while you don’t even notice it’s there (unless you have it in training mode and it buzzes you!). It’s fairly discreet too and can be worn under most clothes unnoticed. For me, I think the device worked fine and did what I expected it to. The recorded data suggests that I really wasn’t slouching as much as I thought I was, but during those times that I did, I liked that the device gave me a little reminder to sit/stand up straight which, over time, I just started doing out of habit. I didn’t really have any back or neck pain to begin with, so I can’t really say whether or not this device helps with that. I did find it strange that the USB cable doesn't actually fit in the case with the device, so that was a bit disappointing. Also, you can reset the calibration of the device as often as you like, if it’s giving you false readings (thinks you’re slouching when you are not) but remember the effectiveness of this device is largely dependent on whether or not you’ve calibrated it correctly, so your mileage may vary.

My journey to better posture started here
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you’re looking for an effective and fast way to correct your posture, this Upright Go is what you’re looking for. I’m in my late 30s and my wife constantly tells me that I slouch. It’s also evident in videos and photos that I have a posture issue so it’s no new news to me. Knowing that most posture correctors are some kind of strap/brace you have to wear, I was super excited to try this Bluetooth device that sticks to you with no forceful corrections. Having an apple watch that tracks my activity to sleep trackers to monitors my sleep quality, I’m not new to health wearables. Anything to help better myself right? This Upright Go was easy to add to my daily routine. The battery life lasts a full day of work and then some. I charge it overnight and place it on my back after my morning shower. The app has you calibrate the sensor and you will be tasked to do the daily challenges. There is two modes to the device. Active monitoring and passive monitoring. Active monitoring will vibrate at you when you are slouching. After a set period of active monitoring, the app would recommend that you passively monitor for the balance of the day so you can build a baseline on what percentage slouching you are. On day 1, I started with 50% slouching. By day 9, I was down to only 17% slouching. That’s a huge improvement! I know my brain and my back muscles are relearning because my back would be sore the first 10 days of training with the Upright Go. It comes with everything you need straight out of the box. The app is intuitive and the sensor was easy to setup with my iPhone X. It comes with medical grade adhesive that feels like the glue that holds credit cards in envelopes. They say each adhesive should last up to 10 times before needing a new adhesive. My back is hairless and I place it on cleanly showered skin so its been over 10 days per adhesive. With that kind of usage, it came with 10 in the box so I should easily get over 100 days without the need to buy more refills. And most importantly, its not bulky so its very discreet when worn. I do recommend this non-invasive posture training to anyone with a slouch issue like me. Everyone at my work notices my posture change and is also inquiring about the device. I highly recommend it.

Great posture trainer!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent for anyone that normally hunches or seats a long time (at least like me). I don't see why anyone else can use it. I work 8 hours in front of a computer screen and I tend to hunch up, leading to neck pain. This little device definitely helps. I can see how many times I'm doing it during the day and helps me keep my posture with its alerts. The device itself is made of a soft plastic, almost has a 'velvety' feel to it. It comes with a USB cable to charge it, several adhesive pads and some cleaning pads, which were welcome (you want as little as no skin oil on your back when attaching it). Its so small and weightless that I did not have a problem wearing it at work, nobody noticed it and it did not bother me after a while, I got used to it. I highly recommend this device to anyone looking to train themselves to keep an upright and correct posture, not doing so can lead to pain and deformities on the spinal column. It has a companion app that can be downloaded from the app store or play store. Setting it up was easy and pressing the button allows you to switch between modes. Great little companion!

Q: QuestionHow come this UPRIGHT product only supplies a select number of adhesives? What happens after 50 days? Do I need to purchase additional adhesive patches?
Asked by Whitney.
- A:Answer Hi Whitney, that's a great question! As of now we sell replaceable adhesives on our direct website. We will have the replaceable adhesives setup on Best Buy for purchase in the future. Kind regards, Upright team

Q: QuestionMy husband's posture over the years has gotten worse---now his head &'neck are slouched forward. He is 80 years old.is it too late to retrain?
Asked by jeanka.
- A:Answer I'm 66 and am seeing good results. I plan on giving it a year before I pass judgement on the effectiveness. The app maps out a training plan based on your age. It would have to be something that he really wanted to work on or it would just be an annoyance. Hope this helps.

Q: QuestionHow well does it stay on? If you work an outside labor job where you sweat a decent amount will it stay connected to your back?
Asked by Mavic2Dude.
- A:Answer The instructions specifically say NOT to wear it if you will be sweating, such as working out in a gym or running or jogging. I would think getting sweaty while working at an outdoor job would fall into this same category and not be recommended.

Q: QuestionDoes the radiation coming from the device create any health risk for the people using it?
Asked by Agui.
- A:Answer Hi, That's a great question. The device has Bluetooth radiation. We use 1mW for our Bluetooth, which is much lower than a cellphone, and considered safe. In any case, if you are concerned, which is totally understandable, we have an 'airplane mode' which you can switch on to avoid any kind of radiation :) Thanks! Your Upright team

Q: QuestionAn ad for this product on Instagram prompted me to search more here. The ad showed an alternate option to the adhesive, almost like a necklace type design that holds the tracker in place. Does this come with the device? Or is it available for purchase?
Asked by Lindsay.
- A:Answer It is available for purchase for $19.99. The sku for the original model necklace is 6402239.

Q: QuestionThe adhesive is ok to wear in the shower? How much are the additional adhesive pads?
Asked by Misty.
- A:Answer The adhesive sticks to the device, not to your skin, so I'd say you wouldn't be able to wear it in the shower. The replacement adhesive pads can be purchased directly from Upright, and they have some different package sizes, so the price depends on how many you purchase at once.
