Excellent especially if you plan on getting the upcoming 2nd Part, The Mask of Truth. The story leaves off with a cliffhanger so playing the next game is essential to getting the whole story. Utowaremono: Mask of Deception is a visual novel with Strategy RPG elements. The SRPG battles are sprinkled in every 30-60minutes but you can replay them when at the camp. They are a good break from the constant flow of the story, especially when playing for an extended period of time. The battles include two difficulties normal and hard for an extra challenge. The visual novel aspect is rather bare meaning there are no choices that affect the story outcome, but the battles and voice acting make up for the lack of choice. Despite that, the story is well done. The occasional innuendo or erotic scene may upset some but they aren't too frequent. If you don't mind the lack of choice in a visual novel, I'd highly recommend this.

This game is a typical ATLUS JRPG. Lots and lots of reading carachter diolog but the storyline is really great so he reading doesn't seem to bad. I have been playing for about 8 hours now and have read for the majority of the time and have only had 3 actual battles where you can control you carachters and fight. I hope there will be more fighting and carachter leveling later on but so far it is a great game. I.E. for people that don't mind reading or if your child is a slow reader then I would also get this game for them to practice reading while not being to bored

If you set the dialog to auto-play and listen to all the (Japanese) voice acting, it's easy to go hours without actually hitting a button. Like the original (never sold in the US), it's a very story heavy game --- essentially a visual novel with bits of tactical rpg, slowly increasing in frequency until the game's end. While a relatively small part of the game, the rpg parts are well fleshed out. That said, it isn't too hard (even on hard mode) and you can rewind to any point in a battle without repercussion. Once a battle is complete, you can replay it at any point to grind. I only have two major complaints. 1) PS4 share is completely disabled after a certain point in the story --- mid-cutscene, not even halfway through, 2) Unlike the original, the story is not self-contained. While the length is fine, it feels like this is barely half of the plot.
