Good wifi hotspot
|Posted .The pay as you go with no contract is what I needed for my business. It's very useful when I work my events and the wifi is weak or unavailable.
I would recommend this to a friendRating 5 out of 5 stars with 1 review

Great service.
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI've been debating ordering this prepaid device to use to play games online. I live in the country and can only get satellite internet which is not able to play fps online. Bought this device and payed $60 for 5gbs. Works great so far. Been playing on my ps4 and xbox 360 with little to no issues. Wouldn't recommend to use for updating large files but for gaming and browsing it works great. The verizon online account allows me to monitor by usage as well. Great product. Data is pricey though.

Disappointed at First
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI purchased this in Tallahassee, FL for a trip to Montana. I used it with my iPod to link it with my GPS to get traffic and weather updates on my trip. It worked fine at first but between Bainbridge, GA and Dothan, AL it constantly stopped working and I would have to turn it off and back on. I later realized it was not a fault of the device but of the cellular system and not switching from tower to tower. When we got near Montgomery, AL it worked like a charm and continued to woirk all the way to Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, and back. When we got back to Dothan, AL the problem began again. As we left Alabama it started working as it should. Great device, not as fast as land based wireless but not bad. It was great to have in the hotels that charge for wi-fi. I will certainly continue to use it while traveling.

Hotspot Worked great
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI purchased this mobile hotspot since I did not need to sign up for a contract. The only problem I had was during setup, I called customer service and apparently the unit was not activated at the store to show it had been purchased, so while I was on travel I had to go to a different best buy to get assistance. Once the sales person told the Verizon customer service rep that I indeed purchased the unit, I was able to setup the device to receive internet service using the prepaid data cards. You will need to create an account online after a phone number is provided if you plan to just purchase prepaid data cards. I rated this four stars, since the clerk where I purchased the unit did not activate the unit by providing me additional information that I would need.

Internet data with limitations
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendVerizon Ellipsis Mi-fi unit does what is supposed to do but has limitations. First is owners manual which doesn't detail all features and capabilities. Wanted similar characteristics to a router but no details of doing so are in manual. However found through usage that the unit allows individual connected phones, tablets and computers to "talk" to each other like in router LAN/WAN. Not sure though if there is a data usage (cost to me) connected with using hotspot unit as a router like device. Next is VERY limited battery life. Charged battery with charger only to find battery charge lasted less than 12 hours! Using local hotspot device in present location requires 24/7 usage so device has to stay continuously connected to the charger. Also have tried several times since setting up usage two weeks ago to use built-in readout to view data usage. Just tried again and still get same indication: "Data usage is not available at this time"! Looks like Verizon will get some additional data usage from me as I'll have to go on line to access the account to monitor current data usage rather than get a free usage count through the device. Lastly was a concern regarding whether planned usage location did in fact have 4G coverage as this device only works where there is 4G/4G lite signal. The Verizon coverage map had some questionable notes and symbols at planned location. Found unit through use that worked fine at the location. So overall device works as advertised but has some limitations with workarounds.

The device worked well, the plans were horrendous
|Posted .No, I would not recommend this to a friendI was looking for an easy to use temporary internet connection while in transition between full-time providers. The device was easy to use and set up quickly and offered decent coverage throughout the house. However, the data usage was just beyond belief and extremely expensive. In two weeks of use I burned through three bundles 16 gigs worth costing way over $150. This was no live streaming, no music just basic data searches, email and social sites. Never again. Beware of these bundle plans.

Does the trick
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI switched to prepaid wireless with the major pink carrier a year and a half ago and have had a great experience...in the city. The issue I had was when I would get off the beaten path, my data uplink would drop and that was problematic. I needed something to supplement my data when my primary carrier data coverage was sketchy. This device was the answer. I have historically been wary of the red carrier's contracts and high cost plans. It wasn't a good value for my situation. But on coverage area, they simply can't be beat. This device was very reasonably priced out-the-door and with the newly revised data plans, I decided to go with it. It has worked wonderfully. I am.happy with my purchase and with the overall service, especially with the coverage. I haven't even found a place where I didn't have reception. The only complaint I have which isn't a huge deal is that the device itself can never seem to determine how much data I've used. The feature is there on the device, it just doesn't work. To view my data usage I must log into the red carrier's web portal, which isn't a big deal, but it would be nice if the device's built in feature worked. That being said, I would buy this again in a heartbeat. Works great tethered with my laptop and my various other mobile devices. If you're on the fence, go ahead and pull the trigger, you won't be disappointed.
Q: Questionwhat is the monthly charge for this hotspot
Asked by wc.
- A:Answer After you purchase the hotspot there is no monthly charge for it. What you pay for is the data and the cost depends on the plan you get. Please keep in mind that the data does not roll over.

- A:Answer You purchase the data plan through the Verizon prepaid cards. They have 3 different amount of data you can purchase. I got the most which is 10GB for $90 amd the data is good for 30 days.

Q: QuestionDo I have to have an account with Verizon, or is it stand alone service?I'll be traveling and would like to have mobile wi-fi but I don't have internet service with any company. I'm just hoping I can find something I can use.
Asked by JamminGeorge.
- A:Answer It's no contract. So no you don't have to have previous service. It's just a prepaid account. You pay for an amount of GB and fire it up and go.
