Band Broke less than 2 months after purchase
|Posted .Does a nice job providing communication with & location of 10 yo. Best to charge it every night for full day's use the following day. The band breaking before hitting the 2 month mark is disappointing. Just superglued it together hoping that fix will hold. Pic shows where end superglued back to the band.

Gizmo Watch With Many Features – Parental Tracking
Posted .Features
Quality5 out of 5Value5 out of 5Ease of Use5 out of 5After much research my wife (Grandma) bought this watch as a Christmas present at Best Buy for my oldest Grandson, who is now in Middle School. LG makes this Smart Watch for Verizon specifically for kids and with parents and Grandparents in mind. Unfortunately, at my Grandson's school cell phones were routinely being stolen out of the kid's back packs. So, having this wonderful watch strapped to his wrist eliminated that issue. As a Grandparent this Verizon Gizmo gives me a 'peace-of-mind' that my Grandson can contact his parents or us at any time, or, wherever he needs too regardless of wherever he is. WooHoo! Why do I think Gizmo is a great watch for my Grandson? ** Communication – As far as Grandma and I are concerned this is the most important feature. This Gizmo features two-way communication, voice or text. Through the Verizon GizmoHub App parents can choose up to ten trusted and reliable phone numbers of their choice that can call the kids. Numbers not on the list cannot get through. How cool is that? Additionally, twenty pre-approved (by parents), pre-set, text messages can be sent from the Gizmo to parents. However, I can can send text messages of any kind on my smart phone to my Grandson, but ONLY through the GizmoHub App. ** GPS Tracking & Safety – As a Grandparent I am glad that Gizmo has this feature for obvious safety concerns. But, it is NOT my intention to track every movement of my Grandson. And, I hope that I never need to rely on this feature for his security. The GizmoHub App allows a limited number of people to utilize this 'tracking' feature' as determined by the parents. Boundaries can be set using the GizmoHub App. When my Grandson exceeds any of the geographical boundaries set by his parents automated alerts are sent, accordingly. ** 4G LTE Connectivity – This is an important feature for speed and dependability. While Grandma was doing her research on Kid's smart watches she found many of the bargain-priced watches were only 2G, and or, 3G. Since we are now in 2020 many 2G networks have been shutdown and, it is predicted 3G will soon follow the same fate. This watch is upward and downward compatible from 2G to 4G. ** Voice Quality – I was amazed at the crisp, distinct voice reception while phoning my Grandson on his new Gizmo. On his end he stated that he heard me loud and clear. This watch reminds me of my childhood days 60 years ago – The Dick Tracy Watch. YooHoo! ** Parental Control – Another strategic feature that parents can utilize almost completely, or, any measures of partial control. Parents can control when the watch turns ON and OFF through the GizmoHub App. His parents can create a 'To DO' list for my Grandson, which he can check off when finished. ** GizmoHub App – First of all this App can be downloaded for Android or IOS for FREE. Grandma has a Samsung and I have and Apple – both phones work consistently with this App. The Gizmo App gives us GPS tracking locations, set boundaries, 9 trusted telephone contact numbers in addition to the person setting this App up (10 total). Besides location, It shows us the parental 'To Do' list, battery charge info, number of phone calls, and number of steps taken if activated. It also allows parents to monitor other children and their Gizmo phones. It allows parents to set 'Quiet Times', when school is in session, etc. ** For Kids – The Verizon Gizmo allows the kids to select the various watch faces, colors, and the sound volumes. It allows them to record their verbal notes using their voices. It gives them a list of the people they can call, and, pictures of the folks to be called can be easily be installed. ** Recommendations: * First, consider replacing the furnished plastic watchband with a 20 or 22 mm standard clasp watchband. It will keep this watch from falling off. The original watchband has a tendency to unclasp easily. * Get a 'Protection' Policy from Verizon for this watch. Remember kids are going to 'actively' use this watch, and, who knows? * IP67 WP Rating – It has been my experience in the past that this rating will withstand water being splashed or immersed (up to 3 feet) in very shallow water on the device, like rain, hand washing etc., for a very limited time. However, you cannot swim with this device on, or submerge it into deeper water. Be aware! ** Summary – Both Grandma and I are pleased with all of the great features of this well designed watch. I highly recommend the purchase of this watch for Safety, Communication, and 'peace-of-mind'. It is a great alternative to a cell phone, but can be used in sync with one. It is inexpensive both as a purchase and as an added expense to your monthly cell phone bill.

Great Product for non-aquatic kids
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendGizmoWatch is a great product. I'd recommend it to a friend. The watchband needs to be replaced as it's pretty flimsy but the good news is the band is a standard size and only costs about $5-10 to replace. That being said this watch is NOT waterproof. I bought the previous version of this product used and it completely died after being placed in a bag with a wet towel. This latest version survived a jump into a chlorinated pool but the speaker is pretty degraded now. You can still have a conversation but the clarity of the words are heavily degraded. My guess is the water gets stuck inside and effects vibration of the speaker diaphragm... I keep hoping it'll improve but I'm not holding my breath. So, buy at your own peril if your kid is a water baby like mine. Other than that it works great, allows you to keep track of and stay in contact with your kids very effectively with only a $5/mo fee increase through Verizon. Water proof wise it seems to be improving by generation but you still need to have your kids be careful with it. Texting feature is also really neat but texts have to go through the GozmoHub app which isn't quite as convenient as normal texts but does allow you to control who can and cannot send text messages to your child.

Nice for kids with some limitations
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendPros: Great way to stay in contact with my grandchild and cool design that he likes wearing. Kid-friendly operation. Cons: As others have mentioned, it's ridiculous that you have to buy a new watch to get another charger for it. And the design puts the watch face in a vulnerable position to break. So while a nice product, probably not totally ready for prime time. Wish the recommendation button had a "with reservations" or neutral opinion options. So yeah, recommended as long as people are well aware of the limitations.

Nice phone watch for kids

Quality4 out of 5Value4 out of 5Ease of Use4 out of 5We had the gizmo pal 2 and the gizmo gadget. This is better than the other two, but not perfect. Pros - better than the older models in terms of the ability to switch the bands to a generic band, 4G vs 3G (i did some research and I think Verizon is going to stop supporting the older models in 2021), there are more options in the app with this device and the data is quicker to load with the new device (even in the same app), you can actually add this device to your account and you cannot add the older gizmo models (because they are 3g). Cons - texts can only be sent to adults via the app (if you don’t watch the app then you miss the texts), kids can only send pre-set texts and cannot input their own texts. With this said, they can send voice recordings instead of texts, I am not sure if this device is different than the older ones, but the older ones didn’t seem like the manufacturer could change the functionality with an update (like Apple does). It would be nice if they could do this. You can only load a very limited number of contacts (10 I think) it would be great if it could hold 20-25 contacts especially if friends also have the device. With all of this said, it is a kids phone watch. It is not an substitute for a real phone so it is not fair to compare it to a real phone. It is a lot less expensive and unlike an iPhone, I can strap it to my kids when they go out to ride their bikes and not have to worry about them dropping an iPhone or losing an iPhone. Finally, the original watch band is junk. I replaced it (ordered it online) right away before it had an opportunity to break. It seems like it will break easily and it was hard for my son to put on.

Great Watch that has trouble with kids
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI love the functionality of this watch and so does my daughter. If let’s us communicate with her, and know where she is without giving her a phone. The watch band isn’t the best, but it was easy to find a better replacement on the internet. The biggest issue is that the glass watch face sits above the bevel. That leaves the glass in a vulnerable place. We found that out when our daughter, being a kid, broke the face on the second day. Nobody replaces the glass. So, the watch has to be replaced if the glass breaks. Make sure you get a replacement plan if you get this watch. I’d recommend this watch, with that in mind.

Much better than the Gizmo Gadget!
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendBought these as an upgrade to my Gizmo Gadget and so far it has not disappointed. Changing settings, adding todo's and contacts is so much faster. In the old version it would take quite a bit for every change which was bit of nuisance. I do also like that they finally added real time tracking which is a nice plus. Just make sure if your upgrading from the old devices to reset or delete them first from the app. It will save you a lot of trouble linking them to the app!

AWESOME!
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI bought this for my 6 year old son. It's perfect for our needs! No games on the phone (although, to be fair, it has a step counter and a jump counter)! It has GPS, allows phone calls to/from the people you put on the contact list (no telemarketers, or anyone else you don't want calling). It also allows texts, but they have to go thru the Gizmo app (only Mom and Dad are going to do this with him)--texts are selected on the watch from a bank of messages. Anyway, the Gizmo is really amazing and perfect for our purposes. My son has literally been calling me from his room when he wakes up, calls me from the basement, etc--he's so excited to have it and loves that he can call me from his friends house. I also love that I can call him and tell him it's time for him to come home too--instead of having neighbors relay the message to him. Definitely a winner!
Q: QuestionCan you get this if you aren't a Verizon customer? We have sprint as a carrier, but cant find a watch like this that has these features. Can you just pay verizon $5 per month.
Asked by Hannah.
- A:Answer Yes you can, but it's more than $5. I have a friend that does this for her daughter, but I think it's $15 if you don't have other services with verizon.

Q: QuestionWhat is the difference between this and a gizmo gadget?
Asked by Momoftwo.
- A:Answer The biggest difference is the fact that this is LTE vs 3G. So response time will be much faster especially making changes to the gizmo. Outside of this the new additions is additional preset text messages and realtime tracking. With now the ability two have two primary caregivers (Finally!) So it's a step up in peformance and location tracking.

Q: QuestionCan you set an alarm with this watch?
Asked by Cc.
- A:Answer No alarm but you can use the To-Do list as an alarm. I use it to notify my boys when it’s time to come home when they are playing with friends. Or a reminder about a school project. You can set it as a one time event or reoccurring. And you can set the “alarm” to go on until the child presses the button to stop. That way they can’t say they didn’t hear it or didn’t see it.

Q: QuestionDoes the kid that’s wearing this have to have a smartphone on or near them like the I watch ?
Asked by LALA.
- A:Answer No, the watch will operate on its own without a cellphone.

Q: QuestionDoes this kid watch allow kids to free text back to parents or is it pre programmed texts?
Asked by LSHELDON69.
- A:Answer Only pre-programmed text. You can create your pre-program text if you like. But the kid can also leave voice memos. It’s a great product. Only watch phone available. Only $5/month. Great to communicate to kid and parent at anytime. Great for kids that have lots of activities, pickups, errands, etc... I had the Gizmo Gadget watch, they are really cheap now, it will stop work at end of 2019. I got my Gizmo Watch in sake from BB for $110, never pay retail.
