Good size with clear bright screen
||Posted .I got the Motorola "Moto G4 Play" phone with Verizon carrier. This phone was for sale in the "prepaid" phone section of the cell phone department and it came in a box. This phone is big with a nice clear and bright desktop/screen. I like the numerous ring tones and sounds too. What I really needed it for was to book hotels for our annual road trips. The Best Buy tech set it all up for me at the store and then instructed me on how to use it. He was very nice and helpful; I needed that. I needed a case/cover for it too because I can be clutzy and fortunately he had a nice Incipio one for it. Ask for that if you are afraid of dropping your phone! I also got a glass protector for the screen and I prefer to use a stylus with it as well. As you can tell, I'm not very tech savvy but I can see its got Android operating system and a Lenovo/Motorola maker. One feature I really like is using your home wifi with it to avoid using up all the Verizon data. Even so, I did get a decent $40.00 a month pay as you go deal. So, overall the phone looks nice, sounds great, and it was on sale too at almost half off at Best Buy so look for a deal on it.

best phone for prepaid verizon
||Posted .i had a galaxy j1 for verizon pp but kept running out of space and had to keep deleting apps (even though i had a 32 gig micro sd card). some apps could not be moved from internal storage. the sales associate steered me to this phone, which had just become available. not only did it have more available on-board storage, it has expandable (so i could still use my sd card) storage, a removable battery (hello galaxy 7), but it cost less than others that verizon pp offers. verizon probably doesn't make much $ from we who use pre-paid and hopes that we will go over our allotted data, which might be why they offer few phones, but this really is a great phone. display is gorgeous, bettery is very good as is sound. very little bloatware compared to other verizon phones. seems sturdy and just the right size. i don't shoot many pix w/ my phone, but the few i have came out very well. this is probably the best phone at this price. the few features i missed, i was able to find apps for- like a notification light for messages. it syncs up to all of your google apps. even after 1 month i still find something new and cool about this phone. so glad i bought it.

Good phone for Verizon prepaid
Posted .First thing's first - this is for Verizon prepaid only. It can't be used on GSM providers, at least, not 100%. Some intrepid people have tried, I guess. This is a nice device, and the price is good. Sure, there are "edgier" and more fancy phones out there. This thing does 99% of what it needs to do, and does it fairly well. It will last at least a day on a charge, and is a decent machine. No, it will probably not play the latest, greatest, fanciest games all that well. That's not what it's meant to do. It's meant to be a good phone first. It should play games that aren't super high end pretty well. For really intense games, it will probably choke up. I don't game on the phone, though, so I don't care. For puzzle games, etc., I'm sure it's fine. The screen is good (even in sunlight), and is of decent size. Actually miss slightly smaller ones, but this one is mostly usable with one hand. It runs pretty smooth with 2GB RAM. Web browsing is decent, and it flips between a few apps pretty well. Time will tell, but the battery does seem to be good, as reviews say. Takes a long time to charge up, though, so it will need to be an overnight kind of thing which I'd bet most people do anyway. With medium use, it looks like it will easily last a day. If it ever gets Android 7.x, there are even more battery optimizing features built-in, so that would be really nice. Not holding my breath, but the word is that it should get 7.x in the near future. Overall, I'm pretty happy with this device. It is a nice upgrade from last phone. It is smooth running, long running, surprisingly lighter than I thought, and I'll get used to the slightly larger size. Makes reading a little easier anyway. Pros: - It's a good mid-range phone. - It runs smooth, and doesn't seem to get hot - The camera is OK. It should do well enough for random pictures. - It runs Android 6.x - and *should* get 7.x, but we'll see. - Long battery life. Much nicer than many other phones out there, especially in this price range - Price - you simply can't beat it for what you get - SD card slot. Easy to add a card for storing pictures etc. - Removable battery. What a nice thing to see. Not sure if replacements are out, or ever will be, but it's nice to see the choice - Moto notifications. Very used to these. Very convenient. - Very little "bloat" or junk. Nearly "stock" Android with no weird extra "skins" or other things that get in your way. The very few "Verizon" apps can be ignored or disabled if you want. - It's a Moto, even if Lenovo bought them out. That means it has a good radio chip in it. That means it probably has better reception than a lot of other brands, and that still matters in some places. Cons: - It's not the "best" phone in existence, it's a "mid-range" device. It's still better than a lot of others. - It doesn't have a 1080p or higher screen resolution, but the pixels are so small that the human eye can't see them anyway. - It doesn't have some features, such as NFC, or a fingerprint reader. Oh well. - It doesn't make you breakfast, but it could probably help you order food online. -...biggest con... it has a Snapdragon 410. This is already at least a yr. old chipset. It's not the latest. It's not the fastest. It is what it is. This one isn't great, but it's also not horrible by any means. It's efficient, and it handles "regular" things decently. It's an OK compromise for good battery life and usable performance. Overall - you can't beat this thing for the price. If you want to use it with another carrier, get the "unlocked" one. If you have Verizon (prepaid) and don't expect to need it on another provider, this is a great value, and it doesn't disappoint.

High Spec Cell At An Affordable Price
||Posted .For those of you looking to break the leash on contract phones without sacrificing all the top features, this prepaid cell from Verizon is a top contender. The Moto G4 Play smartphone has all the up-to-date features including a fast quad-core processor for multitasking, e.g. browsing websites and streaming movies, a large 16GB internal memory with an expandable 128GB SD card slot, and an excellent 8.0 MP camera. All of this is orchestrated on the huge 5" clear screen with Corning Gorilla Glass for the ultimate protection. Best of all you get all of these features at a super affordable price. This is definitely a top contender in the high end prepaid phone market.

Ok for basic needs
||Posted .The Moto G4 Play is a good phone for basic needs such as Internet, talk, and text. It tends to struggle at times with video on Facebook and Instagram stories. Also my Bluetooth headset has connection issues with this phone. When I turn the Bluetooth headset on it won't automatically connect to the phone. I have to pair it everytime when I turn it on. I never had this problem with other devices. I don't know if it is because I also have a smartwatch connected to the phone.

Good phone for what I need it for
||Posted .So far this phone has surprised me! It isn't too big for my small hands to use. I am using this for my business and so far so good. I need to check my e- mail, social media and have the best connection wherever I go to pet sit. I need to be reached at any moment for prospective clients and this works perfect. I would have given it a five star, but there are some things that could be improved. For example, the rotating from horizontal to vertical & vice versa sometimes does not work with apps. I had to download a better camera because I take a lot of pictures & like to edit them for posting. One thing that I wish was better was the battery life. It can last a full day, but I have to remember to charge it every night. Other than that the phone and for the inexpensive price it works great. I did not want to have to be on a monthly plan; I like doing prepaid so I am not stuck in a contract. I did a lot of research on Motorola phones before I decided on this phone. I was surprised that the phone had good features without having to fork out hundreds of dollars for a smartphone. I am type of person that does not have to have the newest phone that comes out. I need it for e-mail, social media, talk, text, messenger, maps, and weather. Overall, I am pleased with my purchase.

Q: QuestionIs this phone unlocked?
Asked by Mortimer.
- A:Answer Yes after getting it. Verizon told me their policy changed as of Sept 1 and all phones are locked up to one year. Returning the phone. Verizon wireless support does not know anything.

Q: QuestionIs there 16GB's of memory or 8? Everything reads 16 except for the descriptions below the image which reads"The quad-core processor lets you browse websites or stream movies right in the palm of your hand, and there's 8GB of memory" Please clarify.
Asked by Diane.
- A:Answer It does have 16gb. I'm not sure why it says 8gb, but I purchased this phone and am actually using it now. It does have 16gb's of memory.

Q: QuestionWill this work work with just wifi without setting up a Verizon account?
Asked by Gene.
- A:Answer Yes - it will work with just WiFi. Before turning it on the first time, remove the back & remove the Verizon micro-SIM card. This will prevent you from being forced into the process for activating the Verizon service as part of the setup process.

Q: QuestionWill this plan work with a regular Verizon plan (not prepaid) Also does it come with the usual fun assortment of Verizon nonsense? (VZ Navigator, VZ bloatware, other space filling Verizon fluff) Thanks!
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer If you have a Verizon sim and an active account it should work. It worked for me. It does have some VZ bloatware, but some of it can be disabled in App Mgmt.

Q: QuestionI noticed this phone has 2G wireless technology while most others have 2G, 3G, 4G, 4G LTE, LTE. Does that mean this phone will be slower since it is only picking up the 2G band?
Asked by Bob.
- A:Answer It is NOT just 2G, it is NOT only picking up the 2G band. It is fully 4G LTE. I suppose you might be getting the wrong idea that it is only 2G from this Best Buy web page, where it says: Specifications > Key Specs > Wireless Technology: 2G . I don't know why they say that, it might be technically correct in some way, but it's certainly misleading/confusing, Notice that this page does say elsewhere: 4G LTE speed, and Data Transmission Operating Band LTE Band 4 . If you want further assurance, just Google the the model number.

Q: QuestionIs it CDMA phone or GSM phone? Can I unlock it to use on T-Mobile after a year binding service with Verizon?
Asked by wangphy.
- A:Answer Per motorola: XT1609 for Verizon has only LTE 2/4/5/13 and CDMA. Yes, they will unlock it after 1 year if you activate it. No, you cant use it on t-mobile voice. It has 2/3 bands of LTE compatible, but t-mobile has VOLTE in limited areas.

Q: Questionwill this phone work with net10 prepai plan
Asked by healthnut4.
- A:Answer Verizon prioritizes the phone and it will only work on their network initially. I understand that after 3 months or so you can change from Verizon to another network. However you will be better off to get an unlocked phone. Check first with your provider for the units they use.
