This is a great product, I've been using it for three and a half months now. The 27'' screen is great for a dual monitor substitute. It has all the features you could want in a monitor (even to turn off the power light if you want). The main reason I love this monitor is because I can view a life sized 8.5X11 PDF with all the bars that take up vertical space, the same can be done in Word but the ribbon must be minimized. I saw some reviews saying that the DVI connection had better picture, so here's the truth. The DVI does have clearer picture. I was using an HDMI connection (the picture wasn't bad) and my roommate had an HDMI to DVI cord, I tried it out and the difference made the picture of the HDMI connection look like it had been faded by the sun or in other words "washed out." The difference was enough for me to spend five bucks on a HDMI to DVI cord. With the DVI connection in place the picture is absolutely great, the HDMI wasn't bad, but seeing the difference made me buy the cheap extra cord. Unfortunately, DVI on this monitor doesn't support audio (most monitors don't, but some do), so don't be surprised when you stick your DVI connector in and the audio doesn't work. It does have an audio in jack, so you can have audio and DVI, but that's another cord to have to plug in (I use a laptop, if I had a desktop I wouldn't care). I gave this 4 out of 5 stars since I think I should get the same quality of picture through either HDMI or DVI and this doesn't provide that. At the end of the day though I would really recommend this monitor for someone looking for a 27'' display and is willing to spend the extra $5 for the HDM to DVI or plain old DVI to DVI (DVI-D Dual Link for all instance in this review). I would buy again.

Great monitor. Easy to set up. Crisp picture, large screen. Great value. Works with a MacBookPro. Great for gamers. One weakness is quality of sound from built-in speakers. Overall, very happy with this monitor.

I am a small time (beginner) photographer who needed a larger monitor instead of my 13-in macbook pro screen size. Since I did not have the budget for an expensive monitor, I had to choose this ViewSonic 27-inch with a great reputation. Although it is a great monitor and does what I expect it to do. The fact that the hight of the monitor is fixed. (it does not go up of down). having my laptop infront of it will block the view of a small portion of the monitor. You may need to set it on a something that is at least 1 inch thick. Or one may need to purchase adjustable monitor base that will fit the 27in monitor. although it came with a built-in speakers, I do not have a need to use it. Other than the ones I mentioned, the monitor is perfect for what I use it for.
