Thumbs up!
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI almost didn't buy this for my daughter's birthday. She was fine with the phone she already had (an LG Volt) and I wondered, why buy a new one if she's happy with what she's got? I'm kind of in the "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" line of thinking when I see people ditching their (still working) "old" phones that they've only had for a year or two for the latest, newer upgrade. It may not make sense to me, but I admit I'm an old fogey when it comes to this stuff. But I put aside my old fogey-ness and did some research trying to find a good quality upgrade, no contract phone for my daughter anyway. I was thinking of getting her the LG Volt 2 (seemed logical), but opted for the Samsung Galaxy J3 instead. It has 16GB internal memory plus micro SD slot compared to 8GB for Volt 2. And the slightly more favorable reviews the J3 receives here and on other sites helped me decide as well. The camera on the J3 is 5MP compared to 8MP on the Volt and Volt 2. I don't think this is much of an issue with my daughter since she's not much of a selfie/photo fanatic. The 5" touch screen display is nice, battery life is very good, runs smooth and quick and overall, my daughter gives her new phone a thumbs up. I guess I'm 2 for 2. I bought my youngest daughter a Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime for her birthday last September and she loves it too! Not bad for an old fogey if I do say so myself!

best Virgin Wireless phone available right now
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendMy last two Virgin Wireless phones were LG brand and I was looking for something with similar battery life. I was also looking to upgrade to 16 GB on board memory. This phone meets both of those criteria. I was also pleased to find out that this phone comes with Microsoft Office Mobile Edition (which is great for opening up word and excel attachments in my work e-mails.) On my old phones I had to "open as a web page" which did not always allow me to filter or modify the document. I can also plug in my phone to import/ export from Microsoft Office. The signal strength is excellent and the WiFi reception seems to be better than any of my prior phones. This is my first Samsung phone and certainly not my last. Bravo!

Great Phone!
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendUpgrading from LG Tribute. The phone performs great. The phone runs smoothly and quick. There are lots of storage for apps. After all the mandatory apps from Samsung and virgin mobile. There is about 10GB remaining. There is also the ability to move the apps to SD which is located in the app manager through the settings. I do recommend a case and screen protector as the phone itself does not look like it can take a beating from daily use.

Pretty Good
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI've had the phone for a couple months and no real issues as of yet. Camera isn't as bad as some are saying. It gets the job done. No real issues with talk or text other than the ONE issue everyone seems to be talking about and that's you can't download picture messages on wifi which can be quite annoying. Just to disconnect and reconnect to download a picture msg is a bit much but not a deal breaker at all, especially if you have unlimited data and don't spend all your time on wifi anyway. I got a really good deal from best buy mobile. It was advertised on sale for 129.99 and I called several stores to confirm and after finally finding a store about 20 mins way I show up and they told me that it was only if your signing up on a new plan with virgin mobile, which I was not as I already had virgin mobile, so it would have been 149.99. I explained that I called several times and no one said anything about that detail of the promotion and they agreed to give me the sale price. It's a great phone but I would have to say if I paid $150 or the full price of $180 my rating would probably drop at least 1 star. The value is really in the sale price. Not to take away any features of the phone. Some are saying not enough space but I honestly don't see it. I have all the basic apps (Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram, Youtube, Netflix, HBOGO, etc.) and still have a bit over 7 gigs left, which is plenty for me. keyboard works good. lots of things you can adjust. Overall just a really great phone. Again, if I was paying more than the $129.99 sale/promotional price it would drop a star. And I'd rate 4.5 if possible for the picture message issue, but 5 feels more accurate than a flat 4. Really can't get a phone with more features, or less problems for a better price.

Decent, but still has a few issues
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendBought the J3 to replace an aging S3 that was beginning to act a little funky now and then. The J3 does just about everything the S3 did, but it seems that some things are amiss. For instance, some apps dissappear from the homepage after a restart, so I fixed this by downloading a different launcher, and this seems to have fixed that issue. Also, it can randomly restart on it's own for some unknown reason. Cannot assign a custom ringtone to individual callers, as the S3 could. Maybe a software update is needed to address these things? Regarding the mp3 sound, when I plug it into my car audio, I occasionally have to press the "Cast" button in order to get full fidelity from the mp3's. Otherwise, it sounds hollow and tinny through the car speakers. All phone functions are fine.Size is great - not too big- not too small. As a new phone to the market, there are not a whole lot of accessories available yet, other than a couple of cases. Hoping that will change.
