A good TV with only one sweet spot
|Posted .KEY FEATURES Quantum Dot 4k LED Display Compatible with Dolby Vision, HDR, and HLG Content Up to 2700 nits brightness Full backlit display with 480 local dimming zones Airplay 2 and Chromecast compatible Google and Alexa voice control compatible This isn’t an all-encompassing list, just some of the highlights. SET-UP This is one of those products whose packaging is impressive and very well thought out. There was no wrestling to get it out of the box. Inside the box, the TV comes in a large plastic bag with 2 grab handles built in. I will admit that I was very hesitant lifting a TV that heavy by the grab handles in a plastic bag, but it worked without any drama. While the plastic seemed to stretch an uncomfortable amount, it didn’t fail. A huge plus is that the screen comes with a padded cardboard cover affixed to it and really protected it from damage. I was able to lay the TV down without worry of damage to the screen. Initial set-up was very quick and completely pain free. Upon power up, the TV walks you through all the steps necessary for setting it up and getting it working. It took me approximately 5 minutes after plugging it in to watching content. That included downloading and installing a firmware update. PERFORMANCE This TV is a very strong performer and gives the big names a run for their money. Out of the box color and picture were not all that great. But, lowering the sharpness below 10 and using the Calibrated picture mode really cleaned things up. In my opinion, close enough to reference that most people could use these settings and be perfectly happy. However, if you are a perfectionist, Vizio includes a wide range of adjustments that allow you to get the color fine tuned to near reference levels. Vizio’s panel and color tracking were very accurate. I am in no way a professional, but I do appreciate a well calibrated, accurate display and own a colorimeter to calibrate my TV’s. As you can see from the photos, I was able to get the error rates of all grayscale measurements down to imperceptible levels. Outstanding! This is the only TV, other than my LG OLED, that I have been able to achieve a picture this accurate. Audio performance was also a welcome change. I use this TV with the included chrome, metal stands. You can actually hear and understand this TV without a soundbar. While I really disliked the Surround processing (it seemed to make the scenes way too loud), turning the surround off cleared up the dialog. NEGATIVES The major drawback I have with this TV is the poor viewing angle. If you really want to enjoy that perfectly calibrated picture in all its glory, the only way to experience it is right in front of the set. If you sit just slightly off axis, the picture quality rapidly deteriorates. I have included a picture with a dark screen to show the effect. If this set is for one person or a couple that sits right next to each other, great. If not, you most likely will not enjoy the experience in any other seating position other than straight ahead. The second drawback is the lack of Dolby Atmos support. While this isn’t a total loss, at this price point, I feel the TV should be able decode Dolby Atmos encoded soundtracks. Other manufacturer’s TVs will decode Atmos soundtracks, but Vizio seems to reserve this exclusively for their soundbars. My third issue is the performance of the Wi-Fi. 5GHz performance on this TV is very poor. This TV is only about 30ft away from my router and I am only able to get about 4Mb/s down, at best. Switching to 2.4GHz improves things substantially, raising throughput to 35Mb/s. This is not a function of 2.4 having better coverage than 5. I placed my laptop next to the TV and downloaded a file on the 5GHz band. My laptop was averaging 30MB/s. That is not a typo. I then used the Netflix tool to test speeds. Netflix speed tests also confirmed the speed discrepancy, averaging 80+Mb/s for the laptop and about 3Mb/s for the TV. That is a substantial difference in 5GHz performance. Using the ethernet connection is highly recommended and would eliminate these potential issues. CONCLUSION Do I like this TV? Yes, if I am sitting directly in front of it. The picture can be outstanding. The quantum dot technology makes the picture very bright and vivid. Colors really pop and whites can be so bright, they are almost uncomfortable. Out of the box calibrated modes are close to spot on and any discrepancies in the color accuracy can be easily fine tuned with the well designed Vizio software and a good colorimeter. The audio is equally impressive. This is one of the few flat panels I’ve had that can be heard and understood. The Vizio software is decent and easy to learn. The Smart TV functions are easily accessed with little to no lag. However, that viewing angle is VERY poor. You really need to sit directly in front of the TV to get the best experience. If you sit anywhere slightly off center, the image deteriorates rapidly. So, it all boils down to one question: Would I purchase this TV or a slightly smaller, similarly priced OLED TV? Unfortunately, I would say: OLED. If you are interested in a super bright, vivid image, shear viewing size and sit directly in front of this TV, you will be extremely happy with this television. It is very nice and has a ton to offer. But, if you truly want the ultimate in black level performance, the best viewing angles, and the most accurate image reproduction, OLED is superior. However, should Vizio be able to improve the off-center viewing performance of this TV, then that could be another story entirely …

Killer Display with Minor Drawbacks
|Posted .This Display, one of the most recent releases by Vizio, did not disappoint in many fields, but left me wanting some improvement for the price they are asking. Firstly, the packaging is fantastic, the screen is well protected and easy to remove safely from the box. Be very careful with the thin bezel, use proper lifting technique when removing it. Second, mounting, I first tried on the two base feet that are included. I was disappointed. They do not allow for moving or flipping the feet inward so there is only 1 correct way to install them. You need a stand almost the width of the display to safely have the feet stand on the tabletop without falling off. The feet jut outward not inward which creates the requirement for a bigger footprint. On the next iteration I would suggest vizio take a look at this. Wall Mounting - This is the method I wanted to use. I grabbed a 400x400 Wall mount that can hold up to 150lb. Drilled it into 2 Studs (16" Center) put on the brackets onto the display and mounted it without issue. Connecting a soundbar with an Fiber Optic cable was painless as I could easily reach the terminals on the display while wall mounted. The same goes for HDMI Video Connections. Quality of the display is impressive. The blacks are deep, and colors are vibrant. The only drawback which I wouldn't expect with a display of this cost is the amount of haloing I was seeing when Opposite spectrums collided. Such as White moving across black. The screen boast multiple dimming zones, however, when a white object crosses a black background, the bleed and haloing is quite evident and disappointing for a screen of this magnitude. Then again, it is not a pixel perfect dimming screen nor does it claim to be. The Airplay and wireless streaming feature works well, it'll usually choose a lower resolution first and then upgrade to full HD once the connection is stable. Finally the sound is pretty solid for a screen of this size but I am someone who likes a full sound experience which is not the goal of the display but if you are waiting to purchase an audio solution for your screen, the on board audio with the screen will suffice. Overall, this screen is a great addition to Vizio's line but if you plan on using the stand make sure you have enough real estate on a table for it.

Save your money and buy an OLED
||Posted .Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. The advertising and reviews for this TV by the “experts” were are positive. So, much that CES rated this tv one of the best at CES in 2019. But do not believe the hype I was impressed the level of blacks it can achieve. But the “slight” blooming is anything but slight. It makes the tv look worse than the traditional LCD. I still prefer my 55in OLED over this tv, so I am getting a 77in LG OLED. I am disappointed I had really high expectations for this tv. This tv is not worth the money, unfortunately.

Posted .Hello Anthony, Thank you for the feedback. A few things that might help you get the kind of picture quality you are looking for. First, make sure the Display is getting a hi-definition or 4K signal. This means making sure that your source device (like a cable/satellite box) is capable of HD or 4K, and that it's connected to your Display with an HDMI cable that can deliver the HD or 4K picture. You can also change between pre-set picture modes on the display by pressing the PIC button on your remote. This will toggle between a few picture settings that look good in different situations. If your display is in a bright room, try Vivid or Calibrated. If it’s in a dimmer room, try Calibrated Dark.

Brightness is great, backlight not so great
||Posted .Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. Some of the content looks great, but staring at the Xbox one home screen the tv can’t handle the grey screen with the backlight, will probably exchange for a Samsung QLED.

Simply Amazing
|Posted .I’ve owned a couple very high end 4K UHD TVs and by some big time brands, and I have to say, this Vizio PX Series TV is the best I’ve ever seen. The box is HUGE. Make sure you have at least two people to help with unboxing and mounting the TV. The packaging is very robust, the display has very ample protection, but it’s also very easy to unbox. Just slide the top portion up and off and the TV is packed inside a sealed plastic bag with top handles, meant to help remove the display from the box as well as move around the house/room depending on where you need to place it. I’m also impressed by the feet of the display. Very nice, heavy metal stands that fit inside slots on the bottom of the display, then secured with screws. There is no movement what so ever here, once installed, they are firm and the TV stands perfectly level and stable. Vizio touts this as a “bezel-less” display, and while the bezels are small, they aren’t significantly smaller than other top end TVs out there. The initial setup menus are a breeze, as the TV walks you through everything from basic setup features, languages, registration and then checking for firmware updates. Their built in Home OS is pretty clean, with a very simple and intuitive UI to browser built in apps and other digital channels that come installed with the TV. Display right out of the box was pretty good, I was impressed. I only needed a few minor touch ups in the Picture menu to get the display to be pretty good for most viewing. But the Picture menu goes deep, very deep. You have up to three menus to adjust picture quality. From basic color, contract and sharpness, to deeper settings like adjusting the local dimming, setting gamma and latency, to even an even deeper set of menus that let you fine tune each RGB color and contrast and gamma. Most people won’t ever need to go that deep into picture settings, but I’m impressed that Vizio allows the user to fine tune their display to that level of detail. they even provide built in color and display calibration tools, that walk you through many tests to help dial in the picture exactly as YOU want it, not what some algorithm thinks you should have. The TV is very bright – 2700 nits of brightness is more than enough to appear as bright as possible, even in the most broad daylight. I’ve found that having the backlight set to around 80-85 is plenty for most viewing, but also gives me headroom in case something needs an extra boost of brightness. The detail is utterly amazing. Watching 4K UHD Dolby Vision or UHD10 content makes it feel like you’re watching your own home movie theater. For a TV of this size, to have such superb and super detailed picture is incredible. Even when close to the display, the fine details are amazing. I also personally like to turn off the local dimming. This display can be set to very low to very high dimming across 480 zones. This is for the user to fine tune based on their source. For some things the high dimming is amazing, say when playing Xbox One X games like Fortnite, PUBG or Call of Duty. But it’s also not that great for other content that might display bright halos around white areas set in deep blacks. But you can turn this on and off on the fly, so whatever your source content is, you can always get the best picture possible. The display also has great motion control. From game latency settings for consoles or computers, to what they call Clear Action, the display makes fast action nice and smooth, no blurring or trailing. The picture overall is just amazing, plain and simple. You can stream content via the built in Chromecast, as well as Apple AirPlay 2. As well as the other built in smart TV apps mentioned already. You can also utilize Google Assistant or Amazon’s Alexa for voice control. The display can literally be a one stop shop for all of your content viewing without hooking up a single device. We use both the built in apps and an Xbox One X for 4K UHD content. Connections are plenty, with 5 HDMI inputs and 4 of them being able of displaying 4K UHD content. I even want to mention the remote control. It’s so nice. Nice and heavy, machined aluminum with super soft touch keys. You would expect a remote like this from a TV like this, and Vizio delivers. You have access to all the top digital streaming services right from the remote, like Netflix, Hulu, etc. It’s nice and big, feels good in the hand, and just a nice touch. I can easily say this is one of the best pictures that I’ve ever seen on a display, especially when that display is 75”. From color to motion to detail and brightness, Vizio has really delivered on this one. I can understand why CNET called this TV the best of CES 2019. You won’t be disappointed.

Amazing!
|Posted .I will start this review off by stating that I am not that person that chooses a tv based on super technical analysis so if you need a review that will break down all of the Tech specs that are important to you then my review will lack what you’re looking for. I never thought I would want or need a tv of this size but to be fair I felt the same way about needing a 4K tv before I got one (because I felt like my previous tv was perfect and I never felt like it was lacking...until I got my 4K!) and I won’t even get started on my late entry into smart TVs. Out of the box this tv required going through the somewhat tedious steps to set up. It wasn’t difficult at all just time consuming when it comes to signing into your WiFi and signing into your various apps and streaming services. Color is rich and beautiful on this thing. Streaming is smooth (will depend on your WiFi network though). I wish it allowed you to download more apps but when you click on “more apps” it just takes you to a screen letting you know that you can cast to it from your smart devices. Casting does work flawlessly (so far) but I’d personally prefer being able to download additional apps directly on the tv like I can with my other smart TVs. Many people don’t touch on the remote but I really like this one. It doesn’t feel cheaply made like many do (I know a lot of people never bother to use the original remote anyway) and it has direct buttons to some of the apps on it including their “watch free” option. So far I haven’t had any issues. Visually it’s perfect to me but again I’m not one to look for technical perfection. If it looks good to me and works without me saying “My old tv was much better” then it’s pretty good. Watching a few things to get a good representation (an action movie, a replay of a NFL game from last season, an animated movie with lots of color, and a sitcom I watch often).

Worthy upgrade!
||Posted .Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. So I previously had the Vizio P 75" from 2016. This TV has ridiculous color saturation and brightness. Black levels are fantastic...I think if I didn't know, it might fool me that it was an OLED. Some very slight blooming is present but I have not noticed it in actual content, only in testing. Definitely an upgrade although I am still forming my final impression of it. I am about 95% "keep it" at this point.

Q: QuestionYou said that the tv legs are 54 inches apart but how can this be when the tv has a 75 invh screen and clearly the legs arr both at outer edge. Of screen
Asked by Vizio.
- A:Answer First, 75" is the diagonal dimension, not the horizontal width of the screen (which is 65-3/4"). Second, the legs don't go to the outer edge of the screen. Third, the legs are actually 57" apart. They attach on the bottom of the TV approx 54" apart but they flare outward a little bit.
Answered by cfishrun
Q: QuestionDoes this tv have an “ambient mode,” “art mode,” “picture frame mode” or similar where the screen can display an image while otherwise not in use?
Asked by Lenmon.
- A:Answer This television has a Backdrop option in the Extras menu on the SmartCast input. This will allow you to set a timer for when the ambient pictures will display.
Answered by VIZIO
Q: QuestionHow long are the legs from front to back? Wonderin if my stand has enough depth. Thanks!
Asked by Tom.
- A:Answer The television feet are 13.39" depth.
Answered by VIZIOEntertainmentExpert
Q: QuestionCan someone please tell me the outer footprint of the 75 inch model? Not just the distance between stand mount as the legs point out. The longest distance on the legs, outer distance. Thanks
Asked by Axr.
- A:Answer The distance between the outer sides of the stand legs is 54.80".
Answered by VIZIO
Q: QuestionIf the tv is mounted over a fireplace will the heat from the fireplace eventually affect the performance of the tv?
Asked by Eva.
- A:Answer Short answer is yes. You don't want electronics to get hot. This is why computers have fans. If you mount a TV above a fireplace it must have a mantel above the combustion zone to deflect the heat away from the TV. The farther the mantel sticks out, the higher it will need to be (which could make for awkward viewing). Newer gas fireplaces include all this information to ensure you comply with local code and you don't end up catching your mantel on fire. However, if your fireplace gets cranking then it will warm up the entire area (possibly including the wall behind the TV) which could jeopardize the electronics inside the TV or at least decrease their lifespan.
