This is an unseen purchase for the Viper Smart start system...it allows the bypass of your anti theft device in your vehicle...I'm not certain of how exactly it works but I haven't had any issues as of yet. I also want to note it's a must in some cars. You will also need to have a secondary key (another unseen purchase for some). Recommendation if you want the Viper Smart System. It won't work without one.

It was needed for the installation of the remote starter and it seems to work correctly

Tag price seems reasonable, but when you purchase required extras, price nearly doubled. Product is great, works fine. Be sure to ask detailed questions about install if you have an older vehicle and even visit service department so you can have questions answered by an actual installer. I had to have a key made at the last minute to the tune of $80.00.
