Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got this drive installed and Windows installed and I am now getting close to the speed specs after having to change a couple things. Please read my tips, it may help you and save some frustration and even maybe save you from returning it. To get that max speeds this needs to be installed in a PCIe 4.0 compatible motherboard with a PCIe 4.0 compatible CPU. I am using this in an Asus X570 Tuf Gaming Plus with a Ryzen 3900X. This also needs to be installed in the M.2 slot closest to the CPU which has a direct connection to the CPU, I initially had it in the bottom slot below the PCIe slots and that one is connected to the chipset which is slower, I was getting like half the write speeds at first until I switched it. You also need to download and install the WD SSD Dashboard so you can enable the Gaming Mode, otherwise again, speeds won't be as fast. After those couple things, I am now getting closed to advertised speeds and I am happy.

The only thing to note is that you’ll need to buy a heat sink for it. I picked one up separately that fit and installed it into my PS5 without issue.

File transfer multi 100gig files in a matter of a minutes. You won't be disappointed.

I got the 1tb and wow it runs fast and loads the games quicker than the original SSD on the ps5 and make sure you buy a heat sink for it and I got one for it and very easy to install.

Silly fast drive, looks solid

Can't really tell the difference when booting, but it benchmarks almost twice as fast as the other drive. You will need PCIE 4.0 to see these speeds, I used a B550 motherboard. Benchmarking this drive I see read speeds of over 7GB/s, and write speeds of over 5GB/s, see the benchmark output for details.

One of the best SSDs for your PS5

With a $12 heatsink bought elsewhere this installed very easily. Speed test after formatting was around 6500mb/s. I've been using it for about a month now and have had no issues with it. One of the highest rated SSDs to install into a PS5 so I highly recommend this instead of other brands.

So far, so good. No problems putting it together with heatsink and then installing it into my PS5. Got more space to install more games!

- A:Answer No, it does not come with a heatsink. From the reviews I have seen a heatsink is recommended. This drive does get hot in use. If there is one on the motherboard use that slot or buy a heatsink. You can use it without one but may run into thermal throttling issues with large data transfers and a shortened lifespan.

- A:Answer Your read speed is correct, your write could be related to programs running in the background or something like your OS being run from the drive you're testing (the SN 850) last but not least - if you're on a a PCI-Express 4.0 motherboard that isn't an x570 (like B550) it could be that you're losing some lanes to the combination of a graphics card in your PCI-Express 4.0 slot in addition to this card. For optimal performance a x570 motherboard where the drive is being run by the 4.0 lanes provided by the chipset versus the alternative M2 slot that is run by the CPU can give small gains!
