I needed an external hard drive to back up my mid 2012 MacBook Pro as my 500gb drive was running out of space. I knew based on my budget I'd have to settle for about a TB. However, after comparing prices on line, I saw that 3 more TB only cost $30.00 more, so I opted for the 4TB. Now, I have 1TB for my MacBook Pro, 1TB for my old MacBook, 1 for pics and 1 for music (for my USB DJ controller). The pro's are the low price, small footprint and transportability. The con's are slow read/write times and noise. However, for the price, this external drive is good insurance for back ups and the read/write time isn't so bad if you do regular weekly back ups. Would I buy it again? You bet.
