Customers frequently mention the reliability and quiet operation of the Red Plus 6TB Internal SATA NAS Hard Drive. It is also considered to be a good value for the price. Customers have used it successfully in NAS devices.
This is an outstanding hard drive with which to upgrade your DVR. Very high capacity, quiet, and optimized for 24/7/365 operation. It uses the better SMR technology rather than the less efficient CMR tech used in many other “spinner” hard drives. Great for DVRs and NAS deployments and at a very good price point. Mine is going into a 10 year old TiVo so I can record and enjoy hundreds of hours of classic movies. And I’m considering buying several more to upgrade the capacity of my home office Drobo.

I have used WD, Toshiba and Seagate drives and these are the most reliable. But the drives seem to die just after the warranty expires, or three years, Granted, I run them 24x7 and some drives have lasted really long, some have died prematurely. Luckily, WD is very good at honoring their warranty. Seagate unfortunately warranties their drives three years from date of manufacture. So if you get an older drive, your warranty is shortened. The Ultrastore drives always seem to be sold by third parties and the warranties are not honored.
