I got this fridge to replace a over 10 year old aGE french door however, I did not feel I needed so much space for the freezer area nor the water dispenser function, so I decided on this one because of the capacity and price and mainly because it was available at my local bestbuy store, I must say this is a pretty good looking fridge with tons of space and for the price of $649.00 is all I needed to make a decision.
Saw installers tip the unit backwards in road on metal dolly to remove bottom packaging before installing. They removed the cardboard perforated cover from water line solenoid bracket on back of refrigerator and brought it into home and installed knowing that the solenoid bracket was completely crushed and tubing damaged.
Went to inspect couple months after install because considering adding ice maker and this is what I found - ridiculous!
I already had problems with the refrigerator. I had been lost lots of food due some defects that already was reported and fixed once Even though still not working properly as it was before. I am not happy with it
This is the monochromatic model, so it's grey on the side and that is my only complaint so far, I wish the sides were black, but that model was much more expensive.
This fridge is very spacious but not obnoxious in its depth. It's about 65.5" tall without the hinges. If you're not putting this in a totally covered-enclosed cut-out space, the height without the hinges is what you should pay attention to. Hinges have clearance in an open space in the front.
All shelves are adjustable. I don't really trust the door shelves to put gallon containers on, although there is space for it. Wish it had a compartment for ice cube trays but since all of these newer models are equipped for an ice maker, I guess they assume everyone will splurge for it.
Other than that, it came in perfect condition, no dents, dings or scratches. Delivery men were careful and nice.
Temperature: Since it was just delivered, I have to give it time to cool but so far so good.
Noise: It's really quiet. I'm not sure about all this loud motor noise that people are complaining about. I hear a settling noise but other than that, it has a really faint white noise hum.
Fingerprints: yes, does show them.
Overall, I'm very satisified with my new fridge. Sleek and spacious!
The only reason we purchased this fridge was because it had the largest freezer. This is a secondary refrigerator for us in the basement.
So far the fridge has been fine. I did have to turn up the freezer temperature control as the normal setting wasn't cold enough (soft ice cream).
There is no light in the freezer (disappointing).
Nice LED light in the fridge. Also nice sliding drawer in the fridge.
Product quality from the warehouse is disappointing. We received two damaged refrigerators (see pictures). So we had them returned. From the time we purchased the first refrigerator to the time we received a non-damaged refrigerator (fridge #3), it was a month later. Best Buy's delivery took a week each time we received a damaged one.
One of the delivery people from Best Buy had no idea what they were doing. They hit our landscaping in our driveway. Couldn't figure out how to transport the fridge down to the basement with their straps.

Temperature control is a problem.

I bought this after our 20nyear old fridge started going bad. It's bigger than the old one which was nice because we have 3 people living here.
Anyway, quick pros and cons
1. Large fridge.
2. Decent shelving. You can fit gallons of milk in the door if you need to as well as the middle and top shelf.
3. Cheese drawer slides left and right. Neat.
4. LED lighting.
5. Large freezer.
1. The temperature control is kind of bad. We've had the fridge for a bit now and at full max cooling the freezer is at exactly 0F and the fridge is exactly 40F. That's not very promising. I would've considered that okay for the default setting (it's a little touch panel with 5 settings, 3 recommended), but at maximum?
I'm not entirely sure what to do about it. We don't have a space to put our food in order to do a refund, replacement, or an exchange. We intentionally bought a top freezer refrigerator because one would assume that they would've figured that out by now, given how old the design is.
I will likely reach out to best buy for an exchange on my purchase for something a little better, but I'm disappointed in Whirlpool. This is the same fridge design your great grandparents used. How did it manage to get worse?
Anyway, 2 stars from me. Nice looking fridge with good space, decent customization, and some fun little features. Minus 3 stars because my food might rot if it gets too warm in the kitchen. Fridges are a pain to replace and install.

A:AnswerThe refrigerator is MADE IN MEXICO. Whirlpool USED to make all their fridges in the US, now they only make their more expensive ones here. If you look closely (in VERY TINY PRINT) on the label on the inner-left side of the unit, you'll see Made in Mexico. You'll have to study it for a few minutes, it's so tiny, so as not to draw attention. By the way, I called Whirlpool the other day to ask about this (when they answer they say "thank you for calling Whirlpool in Michigan") -- and the customer service rep there looked up every single unit I asked about and verified with me that ALL of the TOP-FREEZER (old-fashioned style, like this one) WHIRLPOOLS are now Made in MEXICO. What's sad isn't so much that it's made in Mexico now (all the LGs and Samsungs are made there, some of the Frigidaires are as well) but that Whirlpool -- as late as a year ago (early 2016) was bragging that "80% of its appliances sold in the US are made in the US" in press releases -- and answer calls saying "Whirlpool in Michigan" -- but now the vast majority of their refrigerators (and ALL of them of top-freezer style) are MADE IN MEXICO. Including this unit. Again, have a look at the label inside, on the left hand side. You'll have to sit there for quite a while because the "Made in Mexico" is the smallest print on that label.
A:AnswerWhirlpool ice maker is available at Best Buy or $100. Water line kits sell for about $25 to tap into existing water lines.
Mounts on left side of freezer with screw mounts and rear water pipe block. Valve connector goes in bottom area in left rear.
