windows 10 Pro
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI had windows 10 Home addition and purchased Windows 10 Pro addition. I decided to purchase a new hard drive so the original hard drive in my Envy would stay as new in case there were problems upgrading to windows 10 Pro. Windows 10 Home addition was a lot easier to run and drive over the windows 8 addition, plus it had much the same feel as a window 7 Pro machine. I do networking and engineering so I wanted to upgrade to the Pro addition. I was surprised the pro addition came on a USB drive. I installed a new Hybrid 1 Terabyte Hard drive then loaded the Pro, per the instructions, setting the computer up to load from the USB Drive. I was amazed at the speed the windows 10 operating system installed. After 20 minutes it was up and running. HOWEVER, it only installed the Windows 10 Home edition, NOT the PRO addition. I went to best buy and asked why, but they couldn't help me. My son does computer networking and told me to use the license Key and change the key that was displayed when I looked at the computer info page. I saw I could change the license key and lo and behold it loaded the files necessary for Window 10 Pro. So if you buy the full blown version of Windows 10 Pro you don't need to reinstall the whole operating system, you just need to change the license Key and it will load those programs necessary for pro and you are ready to run your computer.

Better than every other version so far
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendPro - Better than Vista, 7 and 8.1. Soon this will be the norm. Has a lot more capability than the Home version. Con - You really need to go and check the privacy settings. Turn off Cortana if you don't use it everyday, it will read everything you own. Really check the settings carefully and turn off everything you don't need. Read online as well for other changes you should make. Privacy needs to protected and only you can do it.

Windows 10 Pro
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI have worked in the past for Microsoft. I am not a "Fan boy" of MS, but this review will sound like a fan boy wrote it. Window 10 pro is SIMPLY Fantastic! I simply plugged in the flash drive and entered the key. My 6 year old PC runs like a champ. I disabled windows defender (high recommend doing it as defender seemed to eat up a lot CPU cycles. Other than that, the purchase was easy, the install was a painless and 10 Pro runs like a top.

Great OS
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI recently built my new PC, and I went to BestBuy to and bought the Windows 10 Pro USB version. I just plugged the USB in to a USB 3.0 slot and let the computer detect the USB drive. From there It was just a couple key strokes and then a 30min wait for Windows 10 to download.

The Next Step For Windows
|Posted .I would recommend this to a friendI tend to sum up Windows 10 as the operating system update that Windows 8/8.1 was supposed to be. Windows 10 is the best of its immediate predecessors: 8's new features combined with the more familiar territory of 7. It'll be a less steep learning curve than Windows 8, too, I believe. It seems to run fine on older equipment if drivers are available, and it zips right along on my newer homebuilt AMD FX-8370-based box. A caution, though - pay attention during setup; Microsoft wants a LOT of your information - location, browsing history, etc., but that seems to be the trend with a lot of tech companies nowadays. My personal preference is to turn most of that stuff off.

Q: QuestionWhats the difference between this version and this one?: Theyre both 64bit and pro versions but why is the one on the link cheaper? http://www.bestbuy.com/site/microsoft-windows-10-pro-64-bit-windows/4379719.p?skuId=4379719
Asked by VladDT.
- A:Answer Tl;dr - The more expensive one is the retail version. The less expensive one is the OEM version. The retail version can only be installed on one computer at a time, but can be uninstalled and reinstalled on any computer. The OEM version is cheaper because it can only be installed ONCE to ONE computer. It cannot be reinstalled. The one that costs $199.99 is the retail version of Windows 10 Pro 64 Bit. The one that costs $142.99 is the OEM version. The OEM version is cheaper because there are disbenefits to this version as opposed to the retail version. The OEM version is a one-time use Windows license. It can only be installed on one computer, one time. If you were to uninstall the OEM version, you cannot reinstall it; not even on the same computer it was uninstalled from. The retail version can't be installed on multiple computers either. Unlike the OEM version however, the retail version of Windows CAN be reinstalled on any computer, so long as it is only installed on one computer at a time. For more information, I'd recommend reading this article before deciding whether or not it's worth it to buy the less expensive OEM version: http://www.worldstart.com/windows-10-oem-vs-retail-whats-the-difference/ Hope this helps!

Asked by sed.
- A:Answer Hello sed, The Windows 10 free upgrade is for Windows 7 or higher PCs and is available for the first year of its release. After the first year, folks who did not take advantage of the Windows 10 free upgrade will have to buy it. If you have already upgraded to Windows 10, you will not need to purchase it. We hope this was helpful to you.
