I had high hopes for this game. And I’m glad they were fulfilled. It’s semi linear but feels open world in the way that you can chose your style and path. The graphics on the one x on my 77” oled tv are absolutely stunning. It’s a smooth 60fps. Lighting and ambient occlusion are spot on. The voice acting is what makes this game shine. It make you feel like you are part of the story. It’s interesting and engaging. Over all if you are into story driven FPS campaign games this is one you shouldn’t pass up.

If you loved Wolfenstein The New Order or The Old Blood, you are totally going to love Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus. This is an old-school, single-player shooter like they used to make back in the 90s. The levels are well thought out and complex, and the enemies are smart and require strategy to beat. It's not like the open-world or online-based shooters most people are used to today. But this game is sick, if single-player is what you're in to. The action is hardcore, fast-paced, and pulse pounding. You will be shooting bad guys fast one second, then hiding out using stealth to sneak around them the next. The controls are tight and responsive, and the graphics look great on the Xbox One X. The villains in this game are really horrible, and you really grow to hate them as the game goes on, and it's so satisfying to finally face them when the time comes in the game. If you like first person shooters with a serious, lengthy, and involving single-player campaign, and don't want something full of micro-transactions and online death-matches, you will love this game.

If you liked The New Order and The Old Blood, then Wolfenstein 2 is not going to disappoint. It amps everything up and does great job of blending the arcade-style shooting with a deep story and some memorable characters. The way the game plays and the story it tells seems like they would be at odds with one another, but somehow they make them work together perfectly and neither ever sacrifice for the other. The game puts you in control of BJ Blazkowicz again as you fight to liberate German-controlled America. The story picks up where The New Order left off in an alternate reality 1961 where Germany was able to conquer the world using secret technologies from an ancient culture. The main villains of the game have strike a good balance between being frightening and almost cartoonishly evil. It feels like sort of a silly story on the surface, but it has some real depth and a lot of uncomfortable commentaries about the realities of living in a world ruled by the Reich. The controls are intuitive and everything does what you'd expect it to. The game tends to skew toward the run-and-gun style of play. There are some stealth elements, but it doesn't feel quite as natural in this game, which is a shame because I preferred to take the stealth approach where I could and there were parts where it felt a bit tedious. The levels are well made and are mostly linear, but they leave a lot of room to explore and there's plenty of interesting collectibles laying around. Wolfenstein 2 has a good amount of boss battles and most of them have are a good challenge without being impossible. I finished the game on the 'Call Me Terror-Billy!' difficulty, which is one step below the hardest difficulty 'I am death incarnate!'. I started on the hardest difficulty because that's what I did on the last Wolfenstein games, but even in the beginning portion of the game I found it to be punishingly difficult and knocked the difficulty down a notch. I probably could have dialed the difficulty down even one step further at some points in the game, but I persevered. I like to be the guy that says he beat the game on the hardest difficulty, but I really think this game deserves to be played at a difficulty where you actually get to have fun with it. The graphics are great, especially on Xbox One X. The environments are beautiful and have a good amount of destructibility. The character models also look really good. I didn't see any hiccups in performance on the One X with dynamic resolution enabled. You can find deals on this game on a pretty regular basis and I would highly recommend picking it up, as well as the 2014/2015 Wolfenstein double pack if you haven't played those yet.
