    Synopsis

It is 1946, and the Nazis are on the brink of winning World War II. Deep within the heart of Bavaria, they are making plans that could unleash a deadly and ancient power on the world. One man is given the task of trying to turn the tide of the war in favor of the Allies. As a great war hero, B.J. Blazkowicz sets off to hopefully alter the course of history.

Your country needs you in this all-new, standalone prequel to Wolfenstein: The New Order. Enlist and take on the role of war hero B.J. Blazkowicz, and embark on a heart-stopping adventure into Bavaria as you fight to turn the tide of World War II and put a stop to the Nazi's horrific plans. Prepare for two interconnected stories across eight chapters. Break into Castle Wolfenstein in Rudi Jäger and the Den of Wolves to attempt to steal the coordinates of General Deathshead's compound. Then, explore the city of Wulfburg in The Dark Secrets of Helga Von Schabbs, as you discover a Nazi archaeologist obsessively unearthing ancient and powerful artifacts. Equip yourself with powerful new weapons, including the bolt-action rifle, 1946 shotgun and grenade-launching Kampfpistole, to engage in adrenaline-pumping first-person combat. Fend off and fight a vast cast of enemies and villains, such as new hulking Super Soldiers, shock troops, drones and the darkest and most terrifying Nazi creations yet. Dual wield metal pipes and navigate the environments with slick wall-climbing abilities. Are you ready to set out on an all-new Wolfenstein adventure that could shape the fate of the world?

The best thing about Wofenstein Old Blood, is the game play. The graphics were great, and depending on what level of toughness you choose certain parts can be challenging. There were a few parts that I replayed over and over. The other advantage of the game, is that it allows to sort of Roam through the map freely depending on the Chapter that you are in. It gives you the option to either stay and fight all the bad guys, or run through and complete the objective. The downside to the game to me is that it seemed very short. It didn't take very long to beat the game. Honestly, I didn't even know i finished the game until all of a sudden the credits came up. As a stand alone (if you have never played Wolfenstein The New Order), the story line is OK. But it is no where near as great of a story line as The New Order.. Also, at certain parts it resembles The New Order a lot. Which isn't necessarily bad. It does help lay the background story to New Order so that is a plus. Overall, i think it is a good game, if you like the option to run in guns ablazing or take the stealth approach. Lots of fun to just shoot and blow all kinds of people or machines up.

I loved Wolfenstein: A New Order and was excited to jump into this game/DLC. I wasn't disappointed. The Old Blood is a great chunk of what made A New Order an amazing game. It had great locations, interesting new weapons, new mechanics, new characters and more. The combat is still as fluid, exciting and gruesome as ever, especially with the use of the new pipe weapon that can be used for some gnarly takedowns. The length of the game, about 6 to 8 hours, is worth the money invested. This is one of my favorite DLCs for any game this year. The action was great and the story was good, although not as well-developed as the main game. The new characters this time around were also not as interesting, but that shouldn't stop you from playing this. If you liked The New Order or haven't played it and like action/shooter games, this is worth giving a shot. I don't think you will regret it.

A mediocre supplement to The New Order

As a supplement to Wolfenstein: The New Order, The Old Blood is decent content if you simply want more of that formula, sans the multiplayer. However, the story isn't as fleshed-out here and takes a backseat to the action. A couple of new weapons are implemented, but nothing game-changing. The campaign is only about half as long as The New Order's (roughly 6-8 hours), descending into a zombie apocalypse scenario near the end. That's fine, but I would have liked for it to have been further explored with different zombie types, other than just waves of plodding soldiers (perhaps a survival mode via Call Of Duty would have been cool). You probably won't come back to The Old Blood after you've beaten it–save for doing a few of the challenges for trophies. For the average FPS fan, this is a take-it or leave-it affair. 3/5 stars from me.

Wolfenstein: The Old Blood is a stand-alone prequel to Wolfenstein: The New Order. It was released on May 5 2015 for PC, Xbox One and Playstation 4. The prequel is set in 1946 and contains two missions called "The Dark Secrets of Helga Von Schabbs" and "Rudi Jäger and the Den of Wolves". The location of the game is Castle Wolfenstein in the German Alps. New weapons include the pipe, the bolt rifle and a handy grenade launcher. "Wolfenstein: The Old Blood" contains occult and supernatural elements, as well as many references to the older titles. Despite this, the so called "supernatural" elements are heavily implied to have a mundane scientific explanation

Wolfenstein: The Old Blood doesn't sharply alter the formula of The New Order, but still provides plenty of new and exciting locations to take down evil bad guys. It's a short-but-sweet standalone adventure, and while there isn't any of the emotional gravitas that uplifted The New Order, the Old Blood is filled with everything else to enjoy, including even larger combat arenas, and a few new weapons (and new enemies) to round everything out. If you enjoyed The New Order, this is a must-have.

Wolfenstein old blood is an awesome prequel for an awesome game. You don't have to play this before you play the regular game, I didn't and its easy to follow. The graphics are a titch better and the "nightmare" levels are a sweet throwback to the wolfenstein 3d of yore! At $20 this stand alone game with 9-10 long levels, this game is a steal! I recommend anybody who is a fan of Wolfenstein or a fan of first person shooters in general to definitely pick this up as well as old blood!

Judging by the price I was not expecting to get a really long game for $20 however this was surprisingly longer than I thought it would be so I thought it was a great value for 20 bucks the graphics are great and it is a great intro into Wolfenstein the new order highly recommend playing this game even if you don't have the other one it is still a great grab! Plus this also has a secret to where you get to play an old Wolfenstein game just like in the new order.
