Great music is still great music

As a Michael Jackson fan for nearly my entire life, I was reluctant to purchase a posthumous album of his in which producers he had never worked with had the freedom to do what they would with his music (admittedly, this problem is addressed in the deluxe version which you should check out if you want to hear the originals as they were). But if you have a clear mind about it, listening to this album should prove to you that great music is great music. The producers in question crafted the beats amazingly; they are catchy and danceable, and serve the greater purpose to support and accent MJ's singing, which truly stands through on the album. This album is a compilation of album cuts throughout his career, which gives a great opportunity to sample MJ's voice as it evolved throughout his career. If you're a fan of Michael's music and are reluctant just as I was, give the album at least a listen before you write it off as another "Michael" and never listen to it again. It'll be well worth your time.

Single Disc Version of this Album Is Average

There is really no point for anyone to buy this single disc version when there is a Deluxe Version that has these songs along with the corresponding Home Demo's that MIchael Jackson did. His Demo's are superior to the new production by Timbaland & Stargate. This is no shock since what made MIchael Jackson such a unique musician is his unique sounds and compositions that nobody could possibly match. I gave the Deluxe Edition of this same album 5 Stars because Michael Jackson's 8 home demo's really are incredible of these 8 songs plus the artwork is much more elaborate and the Deluxe Edition of this album comes with an awesome Poster.

    Old Michael, New Feel

This was a good album. They did a lot of compilations with current artists to keep it relevant. The issue I had with it is if you liked Michael you liked him for his signature style, adding all the modern beats and feature artists muddied that classic feel. I liked it but kind of wish they released it as is and then had a second cd with the "reworked" songs. Overall still a good job in keeping the music current.

I was skeptical of this intended purchase...another "back from the grave cd". After listening to it, I was pleasantly surprised! I like all songs on the album, which usually does not happen. I just wish this was something Michael could have released while he was alive, so that he could reap the rewards and enjoy the accolades. Congrats Michael! This album was a long time coming.

It's amazing how much this album takes you back to when Michael was making good Music for our entertainment . We don't hear wonderful songs or music like his today. It's refreshing hearing his music once again and I hope we have the opportunity in hearing many more of his unreleased songs. Looking forward in hearing from the "KING of POP" for many years to come.

This CD is 'Off the charts'. The Producers/Arrangers/Writers, certainly know their subject matter (Michael Jackson). Hats off to "LA Reid", Timbaland" , Paul Anka, Babyface. Serious tracks are Chicago, Loving you, A place with no name, Slave to the Rhythmn. Only regret, is that MJ could not perform this CD "Live" to his millions of fans.

I should have bought the deluxe edition. It has 17 tracks and this one has only 8. I ordered it on Best Buy's web site and their description for the regular edition is poor. The site says the deluxe edition has a second disc that's about the making of the album. I would have paid the extra $5 if I'd known it had twice as many songs.

Love most of the tracks, especially the carrier single with Justin Timberlake. I grew up in the 80's when MJ was the bggest star in d universe. I am a big fan of him, so any song he releases would be great. And this one to me is five stars, not necessary for the songs but just the fact that this may be Michael Jackson's final album.
