Buy this for both ps4 and ps5
|Posted .Owned for 4 months when reviewed. For people have Ps5, just buy ps4 version. It's free upgrade to ps5 version. It's 40$ now, and you will get one steelbook include with the game + 1 steelbook free gift from Bestbuy. So there are no reason to buy a ps5 version.

Perfect for a collector and a fan of the series
|Posted .Owned for 1 month when reviewed.I bought this on a sale way after the release hoping I could get at least one of the steelbooks and received both! They came in great condition and loaded up fine on my Ps4. As a collector of the series I recommend it even without the steelbooks.

A Dragon(fish) Rises
|Posted .Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.I would recommend this to a friendGreat game so far with 8 hours in. A more RPG styled game in the Yakuza series but quick paced battles and some great side stories so far and a different method of stat development. If you've ever played a Yakuza game or had a slight interest in the series, get this one. It may take place chronologically after the previous 6 games but it has a brand new protagonist and does not require playing the old games to understand what is happening. The dub is excellent and the cast is doing a wonderful job. In case others are wondering, the BB exclusive steelbook that was free with purchase is the same design as the Day Ichi Edition but with the inside and outside essentially switched.

Maybe my favorite game of 2020
|Posted .Owned for 4 months when reviewed.I would recommend this to a friendYakuza Like a Dragon maybe my favorite game of 2020. A very entertaining cast of characters and story. The turn based RPG gameplay works really well. While this game may be on the top of my list it is not for everyone. You have to be into RPG gameplay like Dragon Quest, a heavy story, and open to quirkiness. The story does not take it self serious. My one complaint is that there is a major difficulty spike around 3/4 of the way through. Other than that I can't wait for the next chapter. They really should make this game into a movie, so that non-gamers can enjoy the story.

A fun very good RPG
|Posted .Owned for 4 months when reviewed.I would recommend this to a friendYakuza going full simple turn based RPG is a treat to play. With this entry they changed and it was a good idea, the story is on point and the classes and dialogue to characters gives the franchise a fresh of breath air. I will say, the graphics look good but at times some items pop out in background can give it a rough look. Gameplay is super simple not much to really think about buy better armor do quest for better material and grind here and there. Story 8.7/10 Gameplay 8.8/10 Graphics 8.4/10 Replay Value 6/10(Once you beat it there is not much to do, unless you chasing a platinum)

Yakuza: JRPG Edition
|Posted .Owned for 3 months when reviewed.I would recommend this to a friendThis game combines all the things you love about Yakuza but changes the gameplay dramatically. This one is set as a JRPG. At first I was skeptical about the change, they had a winning formula... Why change it? However after playing I am glad they did. I love the series but even I have to admit it can get stale/boring sometimes. I am not saying they should change the entire series to a JRPG but I am happy they are willing to try new things going forward. The RPG mechanics in this game are actually really good too. There is basically a class system and (as you can imagine) it is just as ridiculous as the normal games are known for. Even if you aren't a Yakuza fan but enjoy RPGs I would recommend playing this game! It has a lot of charm, kind of like Persona 5

YAYkuza baby!
|Posted .Owned for 3 months when reviewed.I would recommend this to a friendYAY is one way of describing Yakuza you would think a game about the Japanese mafia would be dark brooding and serious (like the DC universe or most Western games) but not so! This serious has been anything but....well serious, there is so much crazy wacky fun to be had and this game is no exception. What was once a practical April's fool joke a few years ago turned out to become the new direction of the series. A JRPG that's right with a new main character comes a new way to play the series. And it totally fits trust me you will enjoy this game and the day one edition with the steelbook is fantastic & beautiful.

Good, fun twist on the formula
|Posted .Owned for 1 week when reviewed.I would recommend this to a friendFun game. I take it in small doses, too much Yakuza can become a grind, especially now that it's in RPG-format. Still, you can expect your standard Yakuza fare; mini-games, hilarious sub-stories, convoluted organized crime conspiracies with twists and turns, dating, owning a business, etc. Surprisingly, the dub is great. I tend to play the series in its original language even if I have the option for a dub (as Judgement did) but Like A Dragon's dub is fun, campy, and totally lip-synced to the characters-- they're animated in English as well. It definitely makes me skip text a bit less compared to the old Yakuza games, and it helped deepen my sense of the characters. Something about having a 1:1 on the performance really was nice. I still sometimes switch it back and forth, mostly out of curiosity. Steel book is sweet.

Q: QuestionWill there be a free upgrade for PS5/Series X when those versions come out? I know for other games like Cyberpunk they are doing upgrades. Also will those upgrades work with a physical copy or does the copy you buy need to be a digital one?
Asked by Trent.
- A:Answer Yes, both physical and digital copies have a free upgrade. However, the upgrade won't be available until March for PS5, whereas it will be available from day 1 on Series X. Additionally, saves won't transfer between the PS4 and PS5 versions, but they will between One and Series X versions.
