I purchased this lock as the store only carried this and one other smart lock. The lock is sturdy and looks good. It is also fairly easy to install and get set up with SmartThings. The major problem with it is when it comes to programming access codes. I followed the directions exactly and got nothing but a headache. The directions were not correct. They stated that you had to push the gear icon to program, however the screen will not turn on with out first pushing the check icon. Then when you do that the lock engages. Then you have to push a convoluted sequence of keys to set the master pin. Once that is done you are suppose to be able to set many other pins for other users. Every time I tried it changed the master pin. It would have been much better to have been able to set the pins using my smartphone. The only thing that you get from adding this lock to your home automation system is the ability to lock and unlock. Long story somewhat shorter is that I will be returning this and getting a new lock.

I like the lock but... 1. The instructions were incorrect. In configuring the master code hit the gear, type the code you want and then the gear again. No need to hit the 1. 2. To do a factory reset, hold the reset button, remove one battery for 5 seconds, continue to hold the reset button, place the battery back in while holding the reset button for an additional 10 seconds. 3. While the lock is supported by smart things that support does not extend to The Google Home. It will require you to do some additional work with either switch emulation or IFTTT before you can control it with your voice. I believe that this limitation is intentional. There is always the chance someone could walk up to an open window and yell "HEY GOOGLE OPEN THE FRONT DOOR." So if you do one of these work arounds do so at your own risk.,

So I purchased this to see how it would compare to the first gen august smart lock. Overall I prefer the august smart lock due to its Bluetooth capabilities and geofencing. However with the august smart lock, you would have to buy a keypad to be able to enter codes and a device that connects it to the internet Vs the yale, in which you would need a smarthub such as smartthings. Some of the Cons Auto Lock is limited to only one option 30 seconds. If you have to get the mail or get something from your car, you need to re enter the code. I paired this device with smartthings and the geofencing does not work that good. Overall I would recommend getting the yale T1L lock that has a Bluetooth option. If you are looking for a lock that just has a keypad and will work reliable with long battery life this is for you. If you are looking for a smartlock, stay away from this product.

I own a real estate office and this lock is perfect to allow my colleagues and Realtors into my office while keeping track of who comes in and out, for accountability reasons. Each Realtor can receive their own code, making this lock very unique. Also, I can lock and unlock remotely so if I'm travelling and someone needs access into my office, I can control it remotely! This is also a great lock for all of my property managed homes...I have advised all of my clients to switch to this lock so that every time a tenant moves away, a new code can be programmed, which ultimately will save money in having to change locks all the time. Not only that..this lock is very cool and can be synced up with home alarm systems and compatible with smart home systems. Love this lock!

      The core function inoperable

I am so disappointed with this lock. I heard great reviews and had high expectations. The lock is gorgeous, a beautiful piece of work to showcase and the quality of the material demonstrates true crafmanship. It's simple to install. It took me 15 minutes. However, programming this lock so that you can actually use it has been a nightmare. Right now it has no smart functions that are beneficial to me. I can't lock or open the door. It doesn't allow me to create the master pin, thereby, rendering this lock in operable. The screen doesn't allow me to click on the keys as directed by the manual to setup the master pin. The touch screen disappears. If you must setup the master pin to access any functionality. I wouldn't recommend this lock and it is being returned

I've been using my Yale Touchscreen deadbolt with Z-wave for almost 2 months now and I've been extremely pleased with it. I replaced a standard deadbolt and installation was a breeze. One thing to watch for is if your current deadbolt sticks then you might have problems with the powered lock being able to close all the way. I had to grind out the faceplate on the doorframe for a smooth action on the bolt. Programming is simple and I have integrated it with a Samsung Smarthings hub. It all works seamlessly. My only disappointment with the lock is that you can't control the codes remotely and you can't customize the auto-lock time interval. Otherwise I would have given it 5 stars.

I had the lock installed through Best Buy. It is a solid deadbolt fitting. I was told by sales person that there was a key, unfortunately, I allowed the box to be scanned and sold without checking. It does not. I was also told it could be controlled by phone. Kind of true. It can be controlled by phone, if a Wink or SmartThings hub is being used. That said...IFFy... I can turn the bolt by hand and know it is locked. I can lock using the keypad outside and know it is locked. But the SmartThings app shows unknown...if I turn the lock, or even if I lock using the app. I can't trust it to be locked, without looking at it. This defeats the " away" purpose, as unknown is not security.

Installation couldn't be easier. If you have a old lock, it's as simple as remove and replace. The instructions that came in the box were off? so i ended up searching the internet for programming but now we are good. The one main thing I would change is adding the key to it. While it has the option of plugging in a 9V battery if the batteries inside die, I rather have a key hole. I have a Z-wave hub (Smartthings) and it's great being able to open the lock before you arrive or opening it remotely from miles away.
