Q: How many watts RMS per channel?
A: 110 rms 7.2 very very clear & loud just like my last yamaha receiver which was 110 rms as well but this new receiver is a little bit stronger
A: It has little bit more to offer and the advantage series is a good one it has lots of power and more there's a lot of receivers even the top of the line ones but this one I won't trade for anything it does it's job
Q: Do I need to go to TV, or can I go directly to AV?
A: There only needs to be a single HDMI cable from Receiver to TV. All other sources can go to the Receiver. If your TV HDMI input is ARC capable (Audio Return Channel) then the TV's built in apps such as streaming will play audio back to the Receiver over the HDMI cable
Q: Can you set a volume control, so the speakers will only get so loud?
A: You can set a maximum volume 'loudness' control and set a volume level the receiver will power up at.
A: You can use bare speaker wire. The terminals unscrew and the wire can be through a hole and then tightened. I personally put banana plugs on all of my speaker wires which make it so much easier to connect to a receiver
Q: What speakers do you recommend for this receiver?
A: Klipsch work great on my receiver
Q: Does receiver have an app to use on your phone to control sound and such?
A: Yes it does and the app can control many of the features not just volume. Look for "Yamaha Av Control" app on Google or the apple app store , they have images of what it looks like.
A: This receiver can 'pass through' 4k video information only. If you want 8k, you'll have to go from cable box straight to tv with hdmi. I dont think there's any 8k content available yet anyway (6/2020).
