Great buy for YYH fans or new fans alikePosted .
This is where it all begins folks. The story of Yusuke Yurameshi. We have about 4 episodes or so for back story and the introduction to the title of Spirit Detective. Then we go right ahead to even more action packed events such as the mystical three items that Yusuke must retrieve before Koenma's father realizes they are gone (It's mainly set up like that for some extra humor). You'll quickly learn that YYH is action-packed, and very funny as well. Genkai's tournament will also be a mission for Yusuke, when he meets Rando, the demon who has the powers of 99 other Spirit Detectives that were slain by him. The final story starts near the end of the DVD's, and little is known about it (In this one). All that we learn is that there are three super strong demons in demon world that are infecting "Living World" with a parasitic type of mosquito, and Yusuke must defeat a demon who controls these bugs with a flute to stop the invasion. This set contains 2 DVD's, the first DVD I believe contains 8 episodes, and the second one contains 6 episodes. They left it off at a good cliff hanger too, so I would plan on buying Set 2 "Second Wind" as well when you get the chance (If you like this first one). This part of the series is remarkably the "slowest" pace of the entire series (which doesn't say much). This is a very quick-paced series, and this is no different. No matter which way you look at it, within 14 episodes you are introduced to 3 worlds, about 10 (5 of them important main characters) characters that will play a role in the future, and we also see if Yusuke can handle the 3 missions he is given. If you like DBZ then you will LOVE this. Even if you don't love DBZ due to it being too slow, that won't be a factor here, because this show is so fact-paced (it's really the perfect pace, because at no point will you be confused). The fights are ingenious as well, and within the next few DVD's we'll be at the Dark Tournament! Anyways, a must have for anybody interested in looking at this (14 episodes for 29.99, it's a steal!), or for the Yu Yu Hakusho fans (like me :-P). So I know people are interested in special features and such. These features included are pretty much the same with every Funimation DVD, which includes: Textless Song Character Profiles (about 10-20 characters included) Trailers for other Funimation shows. This set includes the full ENGLISH versions (as seen on Toonami). For those who don't know, there is really little diference between the English and Japanese versions. Also, EVERYTHING IS UNCUT IN THIS SET. He does swear and there's blood etc. that people tend to crave for some reason.... BUT it's not excessive by any means, so don't worry if you're not into those types of things. The edited Funimation version (as seen on Toonami) really wasn't too off from the original aside from a few edits with the script and a little less violence. All in all, it's UNCUT! So, this is a great buy, you heard what it is, and what it includes. SO GO GET IT!!!! :-)
